Sunday late afternoon we had two devonshire teas with meltingly delicious home made scones and homemade jam,also with the cakes of our choice which were moist and delicate homemade cupcakes. My guest had a gourmet tea, also locally blended and I had a very good skinny latte. Not at all pretentious, very friendly and what a great place to go for a little interlude and so way above a generic bustling coffee shop. I am going back on 28/2 for an evening degustation .

However they do have a small beer garden, which is actually a bit bigger than your ordinary smokers cage, but it is still a spot for the smokers and there beers. However, the thing that grabbed my attention was the really friendly staff, which is something you generally don't get as much it a lot of pubs, namely somebody who seemed to enjoy her job as opposed to simply doing her job. 5 start hotel just not up to scratch…read more Firstly, this is not a whingefest, just a really disappointing experience which I find inexcusable for a 5 star hotel. Lot of little things resulted in a poor stay. - stained sheets (rust or blood) which we were promised would be changed immediately, but an hour later still nothing done. - restaurant (Riverside) just not on par. From giving away our table one morning after we'd been seated to having my breakfast delivered to the wrong table the next, non-existent service and limited dinner menu, it was just not good enough. - incorrect information bring given by concierge about availability of hire bikes - beds had a distinct ridge in the middle (no doubt result of 2 singles being pushed together) which made it very uncomfortable In short, it says 5 stars, but it really isn't and probably shouldn't market itself as such.

Nice place for a romantic dinner. There's a full bar and menu. I chose the burger to take up to my room. This was in the evening and the instructions were to order at the bar. I've found that restaurant food is expensive in Australia, and even a bit higher here. But the burger was big and came with fries and even a few onion rings. The soda I had was priced about the same as other places. Strangley although I had specified takeaway, it came out on a plate. I wasn't given napkins or anything. When it was brought out to me, a french fry fell off. The bartender saw it, made a comment about it, and then just left it on the floor, which I thought was odd. She didn't come back, so I picked it up. Another fry fell off, so now I lost two. I couldn't find a trash bin and the two bartenders were busy, so I left the fallen fries on a counter. The burger was good, nice and juicy. It was topped with bacon and the usual suspects of lettuce and tomato. There was a mayo topping that seemed to have a mild kick. It comes with beetroot relish but I asked that it be left off. The fries and onion rings were crispy outside. At first they smelled a bit fishy - must have used the same oil - but thankfully they did not taste fishy. It was a satisfying meal, the hit of protein and fiber I needed. The restaurant can be reached by stairs or elevator, so it is accessible. However, I did not use the restroom, so I do not know if it is accessible. There are Happy Hour specials. Check them out.

Levi Park will be on this tour, and there will be a giant statue of me, possibly wearing Speedo's! Levi Park is Grrrrrrrreat! I used to head there on weekends with my family for tennis picnics and to dob the footy with dad. There is a very nice, rustic feel to Levi with a lot to explore for a group of kids while the Adults slog it out or sit back with a box or two of fine wine! In the centre of the caravan park is the old homestead and one of the biggest old fig trees you will ever see. It is well over 100 years old and great for a bit of hide and seek. Also, because it is located on the Torrens River, you can slip out the back and let the kids have a play on the nearby stone bridge. If you're lucky you may even find a yabby or two!

In fact this caravan park is just 5 kms or 10 minutes from the heart of Adelaide. This place is great if you've got family or friends coming to visit and no room to put them up at your place. Situated at Vale Park, it's in a pretty ritzy Adelaide suburb but more significantly it backs onto the River Torrens and Linear Park. Now don't think of the stinky old Torrens Lake at Elder Park, this part of the River Torrens is surrounded by natural vegetation, families of ducks and is really very pretty. There's a walking and riding track so packing either your shoes or your wheels for your stay is a must. Levi Park Caravan Park caters for all different kinds of guests. There are spots for caravans and for those who like to camp out in tents, and then there are a range of cabins and villas with all the luxuries of home if you want to get away from it all but still need those extra creature comforts. The amenities too are first rate with BBQ, laundry and shower facilities there for guests to use. The really good thing about it is even though you're staying in a caravan park, you're just out of the city and there's a bus stop right out front so getting around is really easy. To top it all off the grounds at this caravan park are pretty stunning. There's a beautiful old Moreton Bay Fig tree just next to the historic Vale House. The old house has been divided into apartments and you can stay there as well. All in all it's a far cry from my memories of staying in caravan parks as a kid where cold showers and hot caravans were the norm.

Things have certainly changed since those days, and while I would like to say that the Ambassadors hasn't, I have to admit that in a way it has. Okay, they still have the restaurant upstairs (which I have frequented a number of times - it's pretty classy) and I'm not sure if that basement bar is still there (it is usually closed when I came by), but the Marble Bar is still out the back, and is still pretty much the same, with the exception that it now has a back door that opens out into a, well, not so much a beer garden, but a beer alley way spot to sit down (and they have another bar behind that). I'm not actually sure what to call it, except that it is out the back in the alley, but it is still pretty cool because it actually adds a bit of a grunge element to what in former times was sort of a classy bar, but not really.
