The intercontinental Adelaide is located in the city centre. It is seconds away from the convention centre and walking distance to rundle st mall. The streets nearby have a range of cafe and restaurant options. The hotel itself has a light yellowy brown decor. The staff are friendly. It is quick to check in. Breakfast is served in their Riverview restaurant and includes a breakfast buffet with a coffee machine that spits out vittoria coffee and hot chocolate. There are a broad range of tea options in tea leaves form (you get your own little teapot) or tea bag form. Breakfast includes the usual western breakfast options such as eggs, sausages, hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms, cereal, granola etc. What's new though is that you can use their juice machine and squeeze out fresh juices in a few minutes. They also daily serve an Indian delicious tasting vegetarian potato curry with paratha. Yumm. The room itself had a comfy double bed, a work desk and chair and a couch. A massive room for one person. The bathroom contains a large bathtub and the bath products provided contain lemon balm (such a refreshing smell). The hotel contains a fitness centre, a pool, restaurant and bar. When you enter the hotel you might even get to try one of the restaurant's gourmet dishes. I had the chance to try duck Confit with quinoa. Yumm.

Being a visitor to Adelaide a few times now I am getting more familiar with the area but not the hotels. So, I left this one up to the travel agent and wow what a great place this is, especially for the price. In the USA you could touch a room this nice for even $100 more a night. The view, bar, floor to ceiling tiled bathroom with both a tub and shower are all reasons to stay here. They also throw in a fully stocked fridge (not complimentary), bath robes and a variety of snack options to purchase in the room for that late nite craving. No complaints from me and I will certainly be back. Enjoy!

31/12/2010 Intercontinental Adelaide (Formally known as the Hyatt) is officially the best hotel in North Terrace Adelaide. I was here for one of my close friend's birthday party and I gotta say this place is swanky nice! I knew before going in that mixing it up with crazy friends in such a well-behaved hotel didn't feel right... but Intercontinental managed to accommodate a room full of young drunk European, Australian, Asian men that I've never met before, sleazy girlfriends, best friends that you've known from growing up in Adelaide, who immediately bonded over discussions about....school, drinking, sex, watching soccer in the hotel room, and hearing about random unnecessary fights in the city (that had nothing to do with us). There was no limit to the bottles of alcohol my friends bought. But somehow the setting of Intercontinental kept it all real classy despite all the chaos. What I really liked about this hotel was that the security guards are quick in telling us all off, if we were too noisy or out of control. Thanks guys! The drinking didn't help as friends disappeared and disconnected from the group as we all went our separate drunken ways. The night was crazy, I somehow lost all my friends by the end of the night, stranded in front of the Intercontinental, and had to call another friend to take me home 4am. Lucky when you say "I'm front of the Hyatt", most people in Adelaide will know where you are. It was, indeed, an AWESOME birthday for my friend Chris. I will not forget that night!

Rooms are octagonal shaped with orange marble bathroom behind small bi-fold doors to the right. The shape makes the room smaller

This is really a hub for creativity, whether it is for artists, businesses or events. No matter your venture, you will be welcomed here and looked after. The crew at Tenth & Gibson went out of their way to help me out with my event. No matter my enquiry, they found a way to assist and support what I needed. What I do love about this space is that it is well priced, open, well sized, funky, colourful and you can pretty much work the space you want it. There is nothing to navigate around; and there is great acoustics and lighting. There is some pretty cool street art on the walls and the decor is really funky and eclectic. So, you don't really need to do much to dress up the room. It already looks really great. The other bonus is it is just outside of the CBD and there is free street parking! Your guests will love that! If you need it, you can make great use out of the photography backdrop. You can project onto it or use it for your own photography for your event. It was a brilliant backdrop to my photos of guests. If you do have a catered event, there is a space to the side of the main Venue room you can use with easy street access. Speak to the staff about using this. I was absolutely delighted to have used Tenth & Gibson for an event. It is by far one of my favourite venues in Adelaide and I recommend it to anyone looking for a space for large or small events.

It was quiet for a Wednesday lunch with only a few tables. I noticed there was no salt and pepper on the table, and this was brought to us. White salt flakes in a little dish and pepper in a small grinder. Funnily enough I didn't use either on my meal. We started with a plate of dips, hommous, pumpkin and I can't remember the third, it was presented with two slices of crusty bread and little crispy biscuits. The entrees came out, and I was happy to see a beautifully presented pork belly and an artfully placed carrot. My only criticism (if you could call it that) was the crackling was completely white and it would have been nice to have some colour. I think I'm being picky. The arancini balls proved quite popular at our table. Mains were served and the lamb wasn't how I thought it would be presented as my brain was thinking lamb with the bone. Those that chose ribs received a finger bowl. The lamb was delicious, and the acidic balance was perfect. Dessert was a shared banana caramel pie (one person had to leave so we had hers), and washed it down with an affogato. We did request frangelico with our affogato and oddly they had run out, so I had mine with baileys. Tia Maria might have been the better second choice. The serving was pleasing with lots of coffee beans spread on the plate. Utopia is known for their afternoon teas of scones and jam, and as a wedding/function centre with the beautiful waterfall surrounds. The water was cascading down the hill and many joggers went passed our window after their long hike. I will most definitely be back. On a side note, an entree, main and dessert from a lovely selection is only $55 pp.

When I was there most patrons were seated outside to soak up the sun and the sounds of swing band Lucky Seven Swing (http://www.luckysevenswing.com/) who play afternoon slots there semi-regularly. The great location attracts an after-work-drinks type of crowd and Regattas superbly accommodates them with cocktail specials and divine nibbles. I had never tried sardines before, and certainly not as a bar snack, but from the first munch my interest in repeating the experience was, like the fish, anything but canned. The bowl of fries were also of an excellent quality, but by far the nibble king was the chorizo. The inside of the bistro is extremely spacious and no doubt would make an excellent venue for large private functions. The best time of day anywhere along the water is in the morning or early-evening and this venue is no exception. There is parking available for both Regattas and the Adelaide Convention Centre, but I have found it extremely confusing and have had to move my car from one seemingly-appropriate car park to another. I've also traversed an Escheresque series of staircases and lifts to get to and from the bistro. Fortunately for me a helpful security guard showed me which lift to use to get to my car, and the Regatta staff directed me to certain stairs to get out of the bistro itself. Parking is validated by Regattas if you spend over a certain amount.

The service is attentive and very friendly. There are only 2 red wines available by the glass, so it's not an extensive wine selection, but they are very nice wines, so I'm not complaining! I haven't seen a band here yet, but I look forward to that treat soon. It looks like it would be a magnificent place in summer sitting outside under the fairy lights, so I look forward to that too. The outside of the Venue does not look like much when walking past, but when it opens up you will find a room filled with graffiti by well known street artists in Adelaide. So rad! There does not seem to be any limits with types of events you can run here. There are a couple of supporting beams in the space, so if you need it to be completely open this might not be for you. You can place staging in a couple of different spots. There seemed to be good access to power. There were some ceiling truss beams set up above the front of the stage with lighting. Not sure if that was in house, I presume that it is. I watched a DJ set there and the acoustics were good considering the placement of the stage being so close to the open entry. They had a couple of mobile bars set up that you could hire. Also good to note that there was decent access to facilities out the back and a backstage area for bands/performers. Another perk was the booths set up on the side of the venue. This is a great edition if you are running a gig here. Love booths. You can hire a bunch of furniture here as well, they are all quite well priced. And considering that you will not have to pay for delivery this is your best option. My thoughts are that you could run anything from a music show to a wedding here, depending on your taste. Unless the graffiti walls don't suit your event style. You could cover them with drapes they have for hire. Not the cheapest, but it's an option. If you are looking at including food at your event, they have a range of set menu options, which is great! Another surprise is the hire of a Food Truck on the packages. That is pretty cool!

Bear in mind, I've always been a vodka man. All other spirits are second-rate to me. (Except the green fairy, but I don't really consider THAT a spirit. It's more a monster unto itself.) But this is some good rum. The decor is great, and not at all cheap or tacky (as you'd expect from a members club), and the music complements the decorating perfectly. Though I'm not typically a fan of rum, if you've friends who love the stuff, bring them here (or be dragged along), and you'll have a gay old time.
