We were so excited to go on our first Ghan train trip -- which departed Adelaide from the Parklands…read moreterminal at noon that day. First the check in was pretty painless. We drove up to the front behind one other car and the staff helped With our bags. Then went into the terminal and went to the Gold line. Only one person in front of us checking in. Checkin was done within 8 min or so. The folks had the terminal all fixed up with mimosas, coffee and tea, cookies a few sweets and live music. There was plenty of seating for waiting passengers and a small gift shop with Ghan items such as tea towels, t shirts, wallets, magnets and more. The train pulled up about 30 min before we got on. The steward assigned to our car greeted us and helped us put our carry on luggage in our sleeper car. I love that they had the welcome aboard mural so u can take a picture with the train before you get on. It has some beautiful colors in it. All-in-all it was a well designed and comfortable terminal to wait to board the train. Good job!

5 start hotel just not up to scratch…read more Firstly, this is not a whingefest, just a really disappointing experience which I find inexcusable for a 5 star hotel. Lot of little things resulted in a poor stay. - stained sheets (rust or blood) which we were promised would be changed immediately, but an hour later still nothing done. - restaurant (Riverside) just not on par. From giving away our table one morning after we'd been seated to having my breakfast delivered to the wrong table the next, non-existent service and limited dinner menu, it was just not good enough. - incorrect information bring given by concierge about availability of hire bikes - beds had a distinct ridge in the middle (no doubt result of 2 singles being pushed together) which made it very uncomfortable In short, it says 5 stars, but it really isn't and probably shouldn't market itself as such.

It honestly makes it so much easy to get there now, though considering that the university is spread out over quite a large campus, it is still rather tricky. Mind you, I probably wouldn't have used it since it didn't go past my place. Anyway, the station is a typical Adelaide Railway station, which makes it rather annoying anyway. Still, it works.

The station itself is, well, like most other stations in Adelaide, and that is basically a couple of platforms with shelters, though since the tracks have been sunk it means that the accessibility is better, and you don't have to cross the railway lines directly to get to the other side. However, as mentioned, the thing that I particularly liked about this station is that the building is still there.

It took a long time, a lot of dedicated people and a whole lot of money to get her back to Australia from Scotland. So, it's worth going to have a look. The ship was used to take the first colonist from England to South Australia. It could fit up to 300 people onboard and was one of the fastest ships to get you here. It was like a jet of ships. I wont tell you anymore of the history side of things, you can learn more about it when you go on the tour. It is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. Good headroom inside of the cabin areas as well. Especially in comparison to other ships I have been on. So, I think that passengers had it pretty good on this ship. What is truly amazing is looking at the construction of the ship. All the materials, design and hard work to make it such a solid structure. No wonder it lasted so long. Take note of what the tour guide tells you when s/he explains the materials and processes. What I really do want to say about The Clipper is that you have to admire the hard work of all of the volunteers in looking after this girl and restoring her. It is so important for us to learn about how Australia came to be what it is today. And this is just one part. It is truly a piece of history that I hope continues to survive for generations to admire and day dream about. What was it like travelling on this vessel to a new unknown land? One thing is for sure, the people that travelled on this boat were really brave!

We were shown around the city and given lots of fascinating background information. We saw and heard about Adelaide history and passed by several places of interest. We stopped in to see the newly renovated Adelaide Oval then made our way up into the Adelaide Hills. The peak of Mt Lofty has a glorious view and we enjoyed that with a short stop. We then went on to Hahndorf. We had free time here to explore the main street, where there are shops, cafes and other things of German culture to investigate. Our schedule was managed very carefully and we left Hahndorf in good time to get back to the city as planned. Overall, this tour and our guide was excellent. I would recommend this tour and would definitely choose them for another tour in the future. Well done.

We ordered room service that was actually really nice very filling. The bed was amazing. Very comfortable. The spa was great but would be better suited if the pool was heated more. And the roof was covered was cold sitting in a hot spa. We did how ever find a hair on the towels in the bathroom but aside from that our stay was nice and was nice to get away.
