I've been a customer for 5 years. Excellent produce and seasonal items, it's our favorite place to get a Christmas tree.

I had used their online order process several times before without any issues, so I assumed the order had been accepted and their were no questions or concerns with the order. When I arrived to pick up the cheesecakes, I was told that the order could not be completed because they require five days' notice. However, I never received an email, text message, or phone call informing me that the order could not be fulfilled. In the past, I had received messages from them with questions about an order or notification when they were unable to complete one. The situation became even more disappointing when I asked to speak with a manager. I showed her that the online ordering page was unclear about the required advance notice and suggested adding specific information for customers ordering cheesecakes. I also explained that I had not received any notification about the issue and suggested sending customers a text message when an order cannot be fulfilled. Rather than acknowledging the communication problem or apologizing for the inconvenience, the manager placed the responsibility entirely on me, stating that I should have called to confirm the order. She also said that, because they are a small team of three, they do not have time to communicate with customers by phone or text. I understand that small businesses have staffing limitations, but the lack of communication and the manager's dismissive response were unacceptable. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed, and after this experience, feel less likely to return despite their awesome pastries. (UPDATE: the following day I noticed they had updated their online order request to include "7 day notice requested for all orders". So, even though the manager/owner did not accept any accountability to to situation and acted completely unsympathetic to the outcome, she must have realized that they could do something on their side to keep this from happening again to someone else in the future).

We were on a LIME scooter ride on the greenbelt, and this little set up caught our eye. We paused and discussed going over to check it out. A guy at the bar yelled to us "It's better over here! We have beer!" Come to find out this was co-owner Mike who is such a great person. We were roped in! We sat at the cool bar on the tree stump stools (this place is SO COOL!) and were immediately sold. Tom was talking about these drinks called Boozies. (my new favorite thing) I of course had to try one. They come in grapefruit or cranberry. GO FOR THE GRAPEFRUIT! And this is what I drank ALL. DAY. $7/can. Didn't even care. They brought out 2 cornhole boards and we ruled the court! Probably played 20 games and met so many cool and new people in the process. A band started up around 7, and it was a great vibe. other notes - - only 2 portapotties, but were relatively clean. - Boozies, and 3 beers from Western Collective. The IPA was good! - food trucks & live music! - amazing view of the river - big umbrellas for shade / if that's your thing. Mike and Tom deserve major high fives for this rad place. What might look like a gravel lot with some old spools & tree stumps - officially kicked off my 2019 summer. Planning on coming back every time I'm in town! Thank you for the memories!

But that's the great thing about Boise- every day luxuries are just way more accessible. I came by on a Saturday morning and picked up a few coffees and somethings for our long drive + camping trip we were heading to right after. We picked up beef jerky, protein bars, chia seed puddings, banana bread, and even some pre-mixed canned cocktails. I also picked up their East-ender sandwich with turkey, havarti, pickles, and mustard. They offered to heat it up but I knew I was going to save it for a bit and eat it somewhere along our journey-- so I got it cold. It held up very well on their sesame roll. I knew it was going to be a long day so I ordered an iced Americano for myself and an iced vanilla latte -- the much needed caffeine boost! What really makes this spot 5-stars is the whole vibe. It's clean, open, organized and you can just feel the pulse of the neighborhood.

Amigos Original Salsa…read more I love salsa, but I rarely eat it outside of restaurants because it's hard to find a good store-bought version. Problem solved. I recently tried Amigos Original Salsa (Hot), which is made in Boise, Idaho. This salsa has no preservatives or additives, so you need to eat it quickly. Trust me, you won't have a problem doing so. The ingredients in the Hot salsa are: tomato juice, fresh tomatoes, Japanese chilies, onions, garlic, cilantro, salt, pepper and spices. I have included a photo of what this salsa looks like in its original container, below in the comments. Be sure to look carefully towards the right side of the image to determine if you are buying Mild, Medium or Hot. Because of the way it's packaged, it's easy to miss. I didn't see it at all when I bought it and assumed that this salsa just came in heat level. I bought mine at Winco, along with some fantastic Winco store made tortilla chips, which I highly recommend. They're better than anything you will find on the shelf. I started to eat my chips and salsa and was amazed by the fantastic flavor of both. I'm not someone who delicately dips my chips and salsa. I'm more of a "salsa scooper." If I find a great salsa at a restaurant, I always run out of the salsa long before the chips. That's exactly what I was doing with my first container of Amigos, when it suddenly caught up with me. I stopped in my tracks and said out loud to my cats, "Why is this so hot?" I took a closer look at the packaging. By that time, I had consumed enough of the salsa that I could clearly see my container was marked "Hot." Indeed, it was. If you like hot salsa with lots of flavor, Amigos delivers. I am sure the Mild and Medium flavors are great too. Owner Gil Portocarreno used to own a restaurant with the same name. I never had the chance to visit his restaurant, but boy am I glad has continued continuing to make his salsa. Gil was born in Peru. His mother taught him how to plant and grow his own vegetables. He came to the United States in 1979 with the dream of making salsa with Peruvian chilies. I don't know if it's still available or not, but according to his FB page, he makes a Peruvian salsa for sale too. Amigos salsa is sold at Albertsons, Winco, and The Boise Co-op. Highly Recommended!!!
