I've gone to Thompson cleaners for years and they once again rose to the occasion. I had purchased two pairs of pants and was sure I could hem them. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. The fabric was a little stretchy and they were nice pants. I decided to take them to get hemmed. What a great job. I would not have been able to anyway make them look like they hadn't been altered. They were ready when they said they would be a look fantastic. And the price was well worth it. I have brought things to them in the past and they tell he what they can and can not do. I greatly appreciate their honesty and they would rather loose business, than to do something half - assed. Ive brought them comforters many times and am always pleased. Definitely recommend! read more

The owners are so very nice. Always have my stuff ready and any item that needs altered is always done perfect. They were closing one night and I was running late but needed my suit and I called them 5mins before closing and they stayed for me so I can come pick it up. Hard working couple that always has a smile. read more

I called several local cleaners a few weeks ago because I needed to get a suit dry cleaned w/ a quick turnaround. Thompson Bros was not only 1 of few whose hours worked w/ our sched but they were the most courteous on the phone. In person, they are even more accommodating. The price they charged for the rush order was also unbeatable. I definitely recommend this establishment! read more

Would not recommend for alterations, have not done dry cleaning here, but would never give them my business based upon their unfriendly (lack of) customer service. I brought several pairs of work pants to be hemmed, which was not cheap. I brought them in in September, picked them up in October and had to go back in December because the stitching was already coming apart. When I first went to drop It off to be fixed, I stated that the repair was going to be free. The husband thought about it and then said ok, only because it had been two months since the original hem. He was going to charge me if I hadn't said anything. When I went to pick up the pants, the wife got them and she was confused why I wasn't paying. When she realized that it was a "repair" she told me only this time since it's been two months but that I can't bring it back in six or seven months. Which kind makes you think what's going to happen in six or seven months. The hemming is awful especially if she's warning me that if it comes apart in six or seven months I can't bring it back. I wouldn't go here. There was no apology, or helpfulness. Just accusations that I caused it by washing the pants as if I were taking advantage of them. I paid good money for the hem and I expect good quality and for the hem not to fall apart after two months EVEN IF I WASH THE CLOTHES! You have a laundry business for Pete's sake. read more

Good little dry cleaners in Montrose. They aren't the cheapest, but they have coupons on the back of the receipt from the Vons up the street. Depending on how much you spend, you get a certain amount off on the dry cleaning. They can turn something around in a day, but usually they take a few days. I like them because parking is easy and they are close to home. Just wish they would post their prices... read more

Great Customer Service. They really know how to take care of clothes and customers. I have been going for years and have yet to have any problems. read more

Thompson Bros. Cleaners - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Montrose, California

I've been going to Thompson Bros. Cleaners since I went there with my mom as a little girl, more years ago than I'll admit. They've done the bridal archive for both my wedding dress and my mom's when I found it. Back when I worked a corporate job, I was in there every week to get my skirted suits cleaned. I'm still very happy with the excellent work they do for me and my family. Highly recommended!! Mindy Morrison read more

Diana described the setting perfectly. I've never really had a problem with parking or navigating but perhaps I've just been lucky. We really like the way our clothes turn out and haven't felt the same coldness Diana described. We're not Asian but they've always greeted us when we entered and wished us well when we left. The owner even carried my items out once when I had my hands full. The employees always seem busy working on clothing and I guess I wouldn't really expect or seek more service-wise. I usually pop in a few days after picking up our clothing to drop off the hangers and they're always cool with me just dropping them off at the counter. There is an on-site tailor who has fixed our hems beautifully. Also, if you shop at Von's up the street you can usually find coupons on the back of your receipt. read more

I have lived ALL over the U.S. but my family resides in La Canada and has been using Thompson Bro. for as long as I can remember. I have used so many cleaners and absolutely no one does as good of a job as this cleaners. To make this review short I will say: -they have the best customer service I've ever had at a dry cleaners. So friendly and kind to my family -they can get out almost any stain. I've actually shipped clothes home to my mom that my dry cleaners in other states weren't able to get out -they have never damaged or lost anything -they go above and beyond if I need them to. Two thumbs up! read more

Thompson Brothers Cleaners is a small dry cleaners in the back parking lot behind all of the stores on Honolulu in Montrose. Specifically, they are behind The Black Cow and Star Cafe. First, the reason I like them is if I ask them to have my dry cleaning done in 48 hours, they'll do it, I had a very small hole in a sweater once and they mended it for free and it was completely unnoticeable, and finally, I had the add a lining to a pale blue skirt and I was so surprised then the lining actually matched the skirt. Reasons I don't like using them is first, their parking. You're just asking to hit a phone pole or a too-high cement barrier or a car that you just can't see. I don't like that even though they say if you have your clothes in by 11am that they'll get it back to you before 7pm the same day, they really don't like to do it. Don't offer a service like that if you really don't want to provide it. Finally, and I'm SOOO not racist by the way, I feel like when I go there I'm walking into their HOME uninvited. I know that Europe and Asia are different than the US and that specifically, Europeans don't like us because to them it's like we REALLY ARE walking into their home when we shop with them and that' just not how it is in the US. The saying "The customer is always right" must really be a US-only idea. The owners or managers of the Thompson Brothers Cleaners is an Asian man and I assume, his wife. They are both really nice but they are cold. There is an attitude like I'm not as good as them. Personally, if you want customers in this country you schmooze, you make your customers happy at all cost, you're cheery regardless of your actual feeling, and if you advertise a service you provide it without grumbling and pretty much without exception. Your customers should never feel like a bother. My family has always been in the business of providing a service of one kind or another and whether we like it or not, our customers NEVER feel unwelcome. This is why they got three stars instead of five. I have to say, if all that doesn't bother you, we have yet to have any problems with clothes not coming back in excellent condition as we have experienced with other dry cleaners. Just weigh your options before choosing this company. I personally have just stopped buying dry clean only clothes. read more

Total Rating breakdown: Work quality = 3 stars + Customer Service = 1 star (or zero) Work quality breakdown: dry cleaning/laundry = 4 stars + alteration = 1 star Quick review: - Never had a problem with parking - Keith is a nice, friendly guy - They get the cleaning done in house. Keith is always working on fixing his equipments or finding the "magic" solution that would remove tough stains. - Never met the alteration person; but he/she is not very good. The work is messy and mediocre to average at best, especially for the money they charge (expensive). The biggist hurdle for Thompson Bros, in my view, is their inability to communicate properly with their clients. Let me elaborate, if I may. Yes, there appears to be a language barrier, especially in the case for the owner lady. Not that she does not understand what you say; but her ability to "finesse" words is severely limited, and she could come accross a bit rude and argumentative. Go to Keith, if you want to avoid this. A bigger issue is their lack of communication in general. I offered to pay $2.50 per shirt (reg. $1.90+/- I think), for I wanted my french cuffed shirts to be cleaned more thoroughly. Yes, I VOLUNTEERED to pay more to give added incentive for them to do a good job. I tried to remind the lady one day that I was paying more for extra attention, she simply replied "I do not know that." Uh, but you just rang me $2.50 per shirt... you did not know that was more than what you normally charge...? More egregious example: in my most recent visit I realized I was being charged $3.50 per shirt. When I inquired about the price I was told "it takes a lot of work to clean your french cuffs, so we had to increase..." Keith acknowledged that they did so without first informing me and apologized. Appology accepted; but it is not the right way to do business. In fact, it is a horrible way to do business. I am not returning to this place. read more

Friendly and helpful family business! I have been using them for many years and always get terrific dry cleaning.

I've been using Thompson Bros cleaners since 1981. They are the best. I have to tell you if Diana S. has a problem hitting the telephone pole (or what concrete wall?) when she parks there, she's not a very good driver! Parking is easy. And, both the owner and his wife are extremely friendly and always have been. Several years ago, the owner's wife stopped me in a different parking lot in Montrose to let me know there was a problem with one of the items I'd dropped off for cleaning, and asked if I had time to go over to the shop so they could show me. That's customer service!! read more

My family and I have been dealing with Thompson Cleaners for as long as they have been in their present location in Montrose. They are excellent at their work, take care of our clothes and go the extra mile to take care of any extraordinary problems that I come up with (and in more than 20 years, I have come up with a few!). On request they will properly clean and press any garment within a day - and always with a smile. I have never had any communication problem with any employee there. Absolutely none at all. I look forward to another two decades of cordial and competent service relationship with Thompson Cleaners. read more

I have been using Thompson Bros. Cleaners for at least 30 years. I believe it is family owned and operated. They give outstanding service and do a fine job; I have never had a complaint, and they have gone above and beyond to help me turn something around with same-day or next-day service. Fair prices. I have also been well satisfied when bringing some small alteration or sewing repair items to them. As to the temperament of the man and woman I take it run and probably own the enterprise, while they may not gush, I find them to be friendly and helpful, knowledgeable about their business, and dependable. This is my go to place for small alterations like hemming or replacing elastic or zippers. Good prices!

They do an okay job of dry cleaning my clothes. Definitely not the best, but adequate. Husband and wife have an "attitude" which is off-putting. They're quiet and cold, and make remarks that are "off", indicating that they don't quite understand the definition of good customer service in this country. read more

I took in a long jacket with a few really horrible grease stains on it. It wasn't ready for almost a week after a brought it in, but it looks beautiful. It turned out that, although it has suede trimming, it is not dry cleanable and they had to wet wash it, while making sure the suede wasn't damaged, three times. The charge was supposed to be $12, but with all the extra care I assumed that it would cost quite a bit more, which was fine with me. Instead the owner wanted to charge me nothing because to his eyes it wasn't perfect; to mine it is. I insisted that I pay him at least $15 and handed him my credit card. As he was putting it through he said "I'm only going to charge you $10"--and that's only because I had insisted. If you want high quality dry cleaning and exceptional customer service you would be wise to choose this company. I'll never take my cleaning anywhere else. And they are lovely people. too. read more
