Haddock sandwich

They were a little short staffed but didn't have to wait long. My wife and I shared a Haddock Sandwich and we both like it. Great little small town and Cafe. Had Rhubarb pie for dessert

Passing through on way to the coast for the Gardens in the Watershed tour and found this great bistro. A quick Sunday morning breakfast. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was great. Coffee had great flavor. Just what we needed to start the day.

We stopped here for Sunday brunch. It was not busy and we were immediately seated. The fresh squeezed OJ was good but the Wild Mushroom hash was too spicy and boring - all it is are mushrooms, some red pepper flakes and a very few potatoes (why serve this with even more potatoes in the home fries?). The b/f had the crabmeat quiche, which he found dry but crabby. Because I disliked my hash so much we ordered the Belgian waffle which saved the day - it was so awesome, we wished we could have started the meal over again! So I am not sure quite what went wrong today. So many people, my Mom especially, love this place! We just didnt see it with these choices.

Fresh scallops the size of silver dollars, with farm fresh greens in the center. It was a melding of delicate tastes.

Great food and service! Very cozy vibe. Highly recommend the steak bomb and don't forget to end the night with a perfect blondie sundae!

Best blueberry pancakes we had in our lives! We tried them multiple times on our trip to Bar Harbor and no where topped the Thomaston Cafe.

The homemade tomato basil soup and creme brûlée are the best I've ever had.

There's plenty of parking but during busy months (the Season) you may need to park above and walk down to the restaurant. This is one of those very typical seafood shacks you see along the coast of Maine serving lobster, fried fish and oysters. We were exploring the local landmarks and dropped into Thomaston and our local friend suggested this as a good place for lunch. We were there in mid-September just before the restaurant and much of the are shuts down for the off-season. We sat outside as tables extend from the restaurant out along each side of the pier. The shorline was pretty muddy as we stopped during low tide, so not much of a view - I'm sure it's better at high tide. The food here is all fresh and really, hard to go wrong with any of it. We each ordered the fish-and-chips - in Maine the fish is haddock rather than the more atypical cod. Ended up with 5 pieces of delicately fried fish that were perfectly cooked, still juicy on the inside, on a pile of hand-cut fries with a container of tarter sauce (cocktail sauce is also an option). I'd say the food above average and about what I would expect for the location. Service was very good with a very attentive server - they were out of a few things including the draft beer we would have been interested in so demurred to water. I think this is a great location for a quick lunch.

I'll start with-- this is a cute little restaurant in a cute little downtown of Thomaston…read more We didn't have a reservation but it was a cold Sunday night after daylight savings so everyone was likely home complaining about how dark it was so early. Needless to say, we got seated right away. They seem to prefer reservations though. My favorite thing? The small rotating menu. It's nice to see them try to do only a few dishes really well. The service was good. The menu had some solid options. The food? We had the steak chili, shrimp allá vodka and the pizza with pumpkin. All the dishes were very delicious. But really, the shrimp allá vodka sauce was actually so good. We did not want the dish to end. Why the 4 stars? Our $27 shrimp dish only had 4 small shrimp in it. While it was very delicious we called the shrimp "gold" because there were so few and they were so good that it was like finding gold in your plate when the bite had it in it. The other piece, I read this in a review below, but decided to try it for myself. There seems to be a problem with their ventilation system in the kitchen. We were sitting at our table and suddenly it got Smokey but not like visible smoke but you felt it in your eyes. One of my eyes started watering and burning and then my son said his eyes were hurting even though I didn't say anything about it. It seems odd, but definitely impacted our dining experience. This place is a great little gem and we will come back when a new menu is around to try all the new in season dishes.

This place intrigued me with its ever rotating menu as they use what we fresh ingredients that may be available at the time. We began with salmon croquettes and carrot ginger soup-both were great but the soup was seriously out of this world-just the perfect amount of flavoring! My husband had the birria tacos and I had the risotto. Portions were large and reasonably priced. It really is a tiny saloon that probably can't fit more than 20 people or so unless you sat at the bar, but it was phenomenal. I do wish restaurants in the area offered dessert, but maybe there more of a big city thing?
