One of our first stops while visiting Rockland, Maine. We are very happy that we chose this spot! Some truly good beer on tap and excellent beverages! They also have a TouchTunes jukebox. The locals that were there were very friendly! My wife and I started with their onion circles. A very light breading that almost fell apart on touch, but we're extremely delicious! My wife chose to have their Grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. She went without the french fries decided for their Caesar salad while I did their fish and chips with a Caesar in place of their chips. Our meals were terrific! My second piece of fish could've probably use another minute in the fryer. All said it was absolutely delicious! Would love to come back. read more

Feedback on Hard Seltzer from Taproom Hi Rock Harbor Team, I visited your taproom yesterday and tried your hard seltzer on tap. Unfortunately, I noticed a strong rotten egg smell and the taste was quite off--like it was spoiled and had a terrible upset stomach the rest of the day. I wanted to bring this to your attention in case there's an issue with the batch or the lines. I would have had a further conversation with the bartender on why my blueberry seltzer sat with a sip out of it but honestly, she didn't want to be bothered after telling us no to wanting to purchase a few different merchandised items and the two different drinks we asked for were out. This was the only place I could find that was open on Sunday night, and we were not disappointed! The Fish & Chips was delicious, fish was fresh and moist with a well seasoned/crispy light batter, coleslaw was very tasty, and the fries were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. My only fuss is the same as other restaurants that use metal trays to serve dinner on, the fries cool down so fast that I only enjoy the first few. This place has by far the best mayo and butter lobster rolls in the Rockland. The fries were good; typical beer battered bar fries. My daughters loved the hamburger and chicken sandwiches. The chicken sandwich my oldest order was amazing. Again, their lobster rolls are the best we have had in Rockland. The location could not be better and it's a cool little pub and brewery but ambiance and location can only get you so far. I sampled a few beers and will say that they are all just meh as far as good beer goes. I am usually wary of breweries that sell other beer than their own, and this place is no exception. Should have realized it was a futile effort to look for great beer when half the clientele is drinking PBR. The other reason for the lack of stars is the service is lackluster. Just another example of a place that caters to the regulars rather that people that actually would like to try another beer. The bartenders could not be bothered to keep their head on a swivel to see if someone needs some help. They are too busy chatting with the regulars to help you. Even after all that, I wanted some merch because it's a good design. After being ignored for a few minutes I just gave up a left. Pass this place up if you want good beer a decent service. read more

They give us a menu, but tell us they are "giving the kitchen a break right now" Turns out, they should have just Baker Acted the cook. Because he is fucking insane. Again, 5:45 on a Friday night. I mean, is it unreasonable to think folks may want a bite to eat on a Friday?! The bartenders whispered to each other while warning everyone who walked in "the kitchen is closed " Unfortunately we sat right in front of the kitchen and heard the cook screaming bloody murder, cursing, and slamming things non stop. Not a good look. Now, I should mention the place was not even half full and apparently the cause of the cooks meltdown was that a table of eight ordered food. Dude... get help. Maybe get a job better suited for you, like smashing granite with your bare hands. But you sir, are no cook. Friday night should be jam packed with people and the kitchen should be hopping. A group of eight is not meltdown territory. I honestly thought he may burst out of the kitchen and slaughter us all. I finished half my beer, which was mediocre, and cashed out. We decided to eat here on our annual trip down to Rockland. Apparently it was their first day open in a while. Everything was spotless, tables were spaced out, and they had outside seating available as well. Staff all wore masks and menus were disposable. I got the fish tacos (I was a little hesitant because of the chipotle aioli because I don't like chipotles much) and they were delicious. I kind of wish the serving was bigger, or had a side with it, because while they were yummy, I was pretty hungry not long after lunch. Burger was fine, but the beer was awful. I sent my Pilsner back for a PBR. My wife had a DIPA that was nothing outstanding but the astringency and flaws were mild enough to hide behind the hops. The pilsner I ordered however, was obviously infected with something that gave off a strong phenolic band-aid off taste. No self respecting brewmaster would ever let this out to the public. I've drain poured better beers. The food was acceptable, nothing wrong with my burger but I didn't really hear angels singing either. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for decent pub fare, walk a block east and go to the Waterworks instead. read more

I've only been here for drinks a couple times and like to come here. It's a laid back atmosphere. They had live music the last time I was in on a Saturday and they were really good too! Great Sunday night dinner at Rock Harbor Pub & Brewery in Rockland ME. Place was a little quiet, but all of Rockland seems to close down in the evening. Service was a little slow but not terrible. We had: * Chicken Caesar salad, which was very good, great chicken. * Goat cheese with vegetable sandwich. Different, but good. * Blue cheese burger. Nice and greasy (in a good way that you sometimes need burgers to be) with bacon. Spruce head stout. Star of the show. Was a really great stout, good sweetness, not burned tasting. I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. We were looking for something for dinner. I had seen a bad review recently about the burgers, but decided to try it anyway. I shouldn't have. The burger was literally raw in the middle. We didn't order it rare and even it we did, raw is not rare. We also tried the crab dip which was just okay and the haddock Reuben. The food was great. I started with the pretzel rods. Still piping hot and served with some of the best beer cheese I've ever had and, of course grainy mustard. The beer cheese was so good, I saved the left overs to put on my steak and cheese. The steak and cheese was excellent. The steak was plentiful and nice and thin. Add the gooey, meaty cheese and the mushrooms, peppers and onions and it was a delicious mess. You know it's good when it's oozing out the edges! I understand it's a week or so after tourist season, but nowhere on the website/social media/front door did it say the kitchen closed early. I planned my day around breweries to end here for dinner. I got the Cobb salad and tried two of the RH beers. The most important thing I have to say is that if you don't like IPAs, you will be short of drinking options here. Even the Pale Ale and ESB taste hop-heavy and in general are heavy beers for the August heat. The Cobb salad was good and service was prompt; all I'd say is that this restaurant is among the scads that seem to think you can leave out the avocado and still call the salad a Cobb (it's a Chef, boys). Ratio of potatoes to meat was off. The meat in the pie was bland and way under seasoned. Way more potatoes than meat. Salad on the plate was sad. Only had lettuce and shredded carrots.
