    Mil-Spec Construction - Kitchen remodel

I am giving this company 3 stars because the work itself was completed on time, but the overall…read moreexperience was deeply disappointing. Bait‑and‑switch concerns. The owner, Blake, initially presented one set of expectations and then shifted them once the project began. Warranty issues. I was told the work came with a two‑year warranty. Within one week of the bathroom being completed, I discovered a leak behind the wall. When I requested assistance, I was blamed for the issue rather than offered support--despite the problem appearing almost immediately after completion. Contract practices. The contract I was asked to sign was blank. When I raised concerns about the work, I was told the items I questioned were "not in the contract." Instead of addressing the issues, I was met with threats of litigation, and at one point the owner made comments that I perceived as physically threatening. Several mistakes were made during the project and were only corrected after I pushed back--only for the situation to be turned around on me again. I invested approximately $30,000 in this project. My original review was posted on Yelp but was later removed after the owner disputed it. I have text message documentation of the entire experience and will provide it if further false statements are made by the owner or Blake (B.G.). My strong recommendation: do not sign a blank contract and ensure every detail of the work is documented. I made the mistake of trusting the owner as a friend, and that trust was not respected.

I have either recommended or worked with Mil-Spec four times. As a Realtor I had recommended…read moreMil-Spec to two friends, both thrilled with the work. I recommended Mil-Spec to a Buyer client, very satisfied with job. Mil-Spec also handled a house flip, great job on all. The Mil-Spec team sends pictures and reports that customers can easily understand. Screening, scheduling and managing supplies, suppliers and subcontractors is not easy for the homeowner who is not involved with aforementioned on a daily basis. You have to use a general contractor that uses trades and suppliers on a regular basis. If not, every step of the way or you will be a low priority to trades people and suppliers. Your project will take 3 times as long. That is just the reality. There are so many moving parts and pieces to a remodel, hire the best, hire Mil-Spec. Honest, fair, reliable.

Newmyer Kitchen and Bath completed a bathroom remodel for us in 2025 and we are very, very pleased…read morewith how it turned out. The bathroom is small and increasing the size was not an option, so we weren't sure that "rearranging" the space would get us the bigger shower that we were hoping for, but Aimee (the designer) came out and took measurements and later presented us with a layout that would accomplish our goal. The finished product not only provides us with a bigger shower but it is absolutely gorgeous. There were some "hiccups" along the way, some major and some lesser so, but Aimee and Lauren (the scheduler) were reassuring and professional, and every issue was addressed. The crew always arrived when scheduled and, because of their professionalism and thoughtfulness we were not inconvenienced anywhere near as much as might be expected when you are living in the home during a construction project. I would definitely recommend Newmyer Kitchen and Bath to our friends and neighbors.

We have used Newmyer for 2 projects, one in 2021 (remodeling basement to include a bathroom and…read morefinished recreation room) and one 2022 (remodeling laundry room/powder room/garage storage space into butler's pantry and laundry room). Both projects were done well and to our complete satisfaction. Planning with Jen, communication with Tracey, and oversight by Joe were excellent. The workmanship was great, and the workers themselves extended themselves to insure our complete satisfaction. We actually enjoyed having them around. There's one more project in our future, and we'll definitely use Newmyer.

Stay away from this company. All they have are excuses on their poor quality job. The first time…read morethe came out 2 years ago they did a decent job but when question as to why they did not seal the cracks like it was stated on the quote I got that they did not really need too. They just gave me a bunch of excuses and did not want to seal the cracks. I was ok with that but this year when they came out I pointed out the cracks and let them know that I want them sealed like the invoice states this time and they did but the job looks terrible. I agree with Jimmy that the sealer was watered down and thin this time. Mike told me that they are having a hard time getting this product so they are diluting it to get more jobs done. Mike would not even come out and walk the job with me because he knows that is what they did. He claimed that the neighbors used a cold tar sealer not like the more expensive eco sealer and I check with the neighbors Sealer company and they also used the ECO sealer as required in Michigan just more excuses and lies. Beware!! I will see them in small claims court.

I had placed no less than 5 calls to Metro over the past three weeks looking for crack repair…read moreservice before late fall. It was only 10/7/18. I finally got a call back and explained what I was looking for. A Metro quote was delivered approx 5 days later. I called back the same day and left a message to go ahead. Then I left another message, and another. Finally just got a return call stating they were done for the year. Then why bother giving me a quote and telling me that they would do hot rubber crack filling late into the fall? Thanks for wasting my time. Guess who won't be calling back...
