A year ago, I was a pitiful little creature. I woke up one morning looking like I'd gotten a left jab on my jaw by The Pacman and it hurt like it too. Sadly, I was already expecting this. A year of procrastination led to the infection of my bottom wisdom teeth and I was paying dearly. One of my friends had recently gone through a similar experience and referred to me to Dr. Ying's office. So I called them up and booked an appointment for a Friday afternoon. I seriously thought this was only a consultation, though once the paperwork was submitted I was taken to a private room with a TV. Oh no! The interrogation room! Actually, they showed me an educational video about the risks of removing wisdom teeth, which was a professional touch. Made me feel like they cared, though it's probably more of a well devised tactic to keep patients from suing over...*cringe* complications. Five minutes after the video, they're taking x-rays of my teeth with their state of the art equipment. Get this: no need to bite down on any foreign objects or tilt your head in awkward positions, cause their machine whirls around your head and does all the work. Now that's fancy. With the x-rays complete, it was time to meet the man himself. Turns out Dr. Ying is not your average dentist, but a licensed oral/maxillofacial surgeon who doesn't perform general services like filling cavities. And after the conference we had about the procedure and the Q&A session, it showed. No question left unanswered. I was sold and off to surgery. I'm told the whole procedure took approximately 45 minutes; I wouldn't know cause I was off in slumber land chasing unicorns. But when I awoke, there was NO pain or discomfort, even after I stupidly tried to talk. I was sent home with an ice pack, but didn't realize what an outstanding job Dr. Ying had performed until I started healing. Two days later Dr. Ying himself called for a status report, and a week later I was in for a complementary checkup. Still NO pain or discomfort. My face wasn't swollen and NO complications afterwards... till this very day. I'm really thankful for Dr. Ying and the amazing dedication he puts into his work. I DREAD any work done in my mouth like no ones business, but he restored my faith. My only gripe was the price since I was a cash patient with no insurance, but the quality of care was worth every cent. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Dr. Ying, you rock. read more

I avoided getting my wisdom teeth removed for way too long and I was finally forced to bite the bullet and make an appointment with my dentist when my lower wisdom teeth kept getting infected. It turned out I had a partial bony impaction so no matter what it would never come in properly so I had no choice but to have surgery. Thankfully, my dentist referred me to Dr. Ying. He was amazing and everything went well! Dr. Ying went through great lengths to ensure that all of my questions were answered and that I understood the surgery properly. Dr. Ying was extremely gentle and took great care with me. My mouth is actually pretty small and a lot of dentists find it hard to work in my mouth, so I have no idea how he could do it without causing me too much pain or discomfort. Before the surgery, his nurse went over the after care instructions with me which really helped afterward. They provided me with some supplies but the most helpful thing was the curved plastic syringe. I healed so well that my face barely swelled and now a year later, I can't feel any scarring on my gums like some people complain about. If you're suffering from wisdom teeth pain and need surgery, I suggest seeing Dr. Ying. He made a traumatic experience for me a lot more tolerable and I'm forever grateful for that. read more

Was amazed he left his personal cell on his machine and even more amazed when he called me just minutes after receiving my 10pm text. He provided me instructions to get me through the night and then met me at 8am Sunday morning in his office to treat me. I had explained my concern over leaving Monday morning on a business trip to NY and he did this to allow me to hit the road Monday without concern (not to mention pain). I was referred to Dr Yings office by my local dentist for a tooth that needed to be surgically removed in the back of my mouth. When my husband and I arrived at his office, it was beautiful very clean simple and organized. The staff is quite friendly and professional and were already prepared for me. The paperwork process was organized and brief which I appreciated as a first time patient. When we were directed to the back room, my xrays were already up from my dentist and Dr Ying greeted us almost immediately. No waiting. He spoke to me in great detail and asked many questions about my condition. I did not feel rushed at all. He then examined my tooth. Then, he went into great detail with my husband and I regarding what I needed. He went over all of the options of anasthesa with me and was very informative. I felt that he was very thorough and engaged us with every detail. I really appreciated his professional demeanor. I also felt very relaxed, like I just knew I was in good hands. The actual procedure itself went very quickly and painless. I was under some anasthesa (local and nitris oxide). He was very quick, and I felt no discomfort. I was recommended to Dr. Ying by a family friend and can't even begin to explain how amazing he is. Front office staff are so nice and pleasant from my first phone call in until I left surgery and all appointment and communication in between. Theyre appointment scheduling was very flexible. They made me feel 100% comfortable about getting my 4 wisdom teeth removed (way over due). Dr Ying doesn't beat around the bush and does go over every risk and side effect which I feel is important so you know what to expect. My son was referred by his orthodontist in Manhattan Beach. Dr Ying is awesome! It's been about 2 years since we were there, but I never was into leaving reviews, until my friend told me it's important, and I should do a review to help the next person. I was extremely impressed with the high tech equipment at the office. All the staff were very professional. My son had an extra tooth blocking his upper right front tooth from coming down. So, Dr. Ying, took this 3d X-Ray, and then removed the extra tooth. Dr Ying did mention that my son's permanent tooth will not come down over night. Our pediatric dentist referred us here, and a close friend of mine who's a dentist has also heard good things. The staff is very friendly/professional, and Dr. Ying was extremely patient and informative during our consultation. My daughter needed 3 molars extracted, and Dr. Ying and his very kind assistant worked quickly but efficiently. Dr. Ying has a slightly brisk bedside manner (or maybe I was just annoying ), but my 7yr. old seemed to not notice. She asked me what she looked like as they had hooked her up to oxygen, and monitors (she had nitrous oxide), so I offered to snap a photo. It was her first time ever needing anything other than a cleaning/X-rays. Just then the Dr. entered the room, and sort of snapped at me,"no photos!". A bit embarrassing! It's not as if I was planning on taking pics once they started working... Maybe that happens sometimes? Whatever the case, I felt like he could have told me a little gentler. I also got the feeling they prefer parents to stay outside - I understand there is a sterile field, etc. but afterward my daughter commented that she was very glad to have me in the room for the procedure. We were given thorough discharge instructions, and so far my daughter is doing very well. I highly recommend this office! I felt like everyone took very good care of us, and even though I felt "in trouble " for the photo attempt, I do feel that the Dr. treated my daughter with respect and friendliness- and truly explained everything in a way a nervous 7yr. old could understand! read more

Last week, the doctor took an abundance of time with both me and my ten year old, explaining the process in detail in his clean and modern offices. Dr. Ying is very gentle and has a mild manner. His staff are highly professional. When I called to make an appointment I told them I needed an early morning appointment. They did not have a time slot available, but within 15 minutes they called me back and gave me the time I had wanted. The office is exceptionally clean. The wisdom tooth extraction took less than 10 minutes. I had local anesthesia and it was fine. Cynthia, Dr. Ying's assistant, massaged my shoulders during the procedure and reminded me to breath. This was calming. Her post-op instructions were also helpful. I had very little swelling and bruising and I was able to eat solid food the entire week! Having a procedure like that (I opted to stay awake) was never going to be "enjoyable" but what I was most impressed with was his speed and efficiency in what he was doing. The receptionist was very cruel and sarcastic when it came billing problems. BAIT and SWITCH -- Spoke to the practice and received a form estimating my payments to be $180 after insurance. Obviously this practice should know that the treatment I received would not be covered and I was stuck with a bill for an additional $290, totaling $470 for a 15 minute procedure. When I called the office they didn't bother to help and said I owed the money and sent my bill to collections. They could have worked with me because it was their negligence that cost me all this money. STAY AWAY! read more

This dentist is awesome, truly.. I was referred to him for a wisdom tooth extraction, he did it very nicely, I was able to get off of pain meds by next morning as I think there was minimal bruising due to the way he did it, only 1 stitch. I followed the instructions fully, something that might have also helped is that I started taking antibiotics 5 days prior and continued till next 3 days after the extraction, the antibiotics were given to me by the referring Dentist who also saw some infection under the tooth.
