Dr. Deutsch is also my favorite. I have been to SO many dentists and she is by far the diamond in the rough. My mouth is quite sensitive but never has she hurt me and she is always very respectful and keeps me up to date. The office is small and she usually runs the show herself. I believe she has a part-time receptionist but I've been about 4 times and only once have I seen another employee in the office. I love her consideration, passion, honesty, and hard work. If you have been disappointed with the packed dentists with hygenists giving you cleanings, go to a dentist that does cleanings herself and really makes an effort to learn your needs. read more

I switched dentists after several disappointing experiences with my dentist of 10 years. Many Hermosa locals recommended Dr. Deutsch and since I could walk to her office, I gave it a try. 2 years later, I am so satisfied with the care that Dr. Deutsch provides. She is thorough and cleans her patients' teeth herself. Dr. Deutsch is no-nonsense, punctual and doesn't try to sell you services that you don't need. She has a part-time receptionist and often picks up the phone to answer it herself. Messages are returned promptly. The parking situation can sometimes be challenging but early morning appointments seem to address that. If you are looking for a great dental experience, I highly recommend Dr. Deutsch. read more

Dr. Deutsch came highly recommended from my coworkers. I work across the street from her office, so nearly 1/3 of my coworkers are her patients. Dr. Deutsch is amazing, very knowledgeable, honest and she takes her time to explain what she's doing so you don't just hear that drilling noise and wonder what's going on. Nothing is worse than your doctor/dentist being distracted while examining your teeth or rushing out to the next patient. I like the fact that she attends to all her patients. Charged me $107 to look in my mouth at a non-infected, cracked molar and tell me that I needed an oral surgeon to extract it. That would easily be $600-800. Love Dr. Deutsch! I've been her patient for 12 years. She has taken great care of my teeth all these years. She takes a very conservative approach at tooth care and doesn't recommend unnecessary procedures. I make sure I see her twice a year for my cleanings and so far so good, all is well. At my very first appointment she recommended a filling on a small front tooth. I was skeptical, but after she thoroughly explained the basis for her recommendation, I assented and got the filling. I haven't had any since! Also at that first appointment, since I was a new patient, she did a full set of x-ray's to set a basis for my care. Since then, she does very limited x-rays on an extended schedule. I think every couple of years or so. She's very conservative in exposing patients to unnecessary x-rays or procedures. Except for paying for 1/2 a night guard, I haven't paid a dime outside of my insurance coverage for any of my procedures, including the one & only filling. As far as some of the negative reviews, consider the whole review. One sounds like an issue with insurance, not the dentist. The other sounds like a very angry person. Dr. Deutsch has been a wonderful dentist for me. She takes great care in my teeth and is always disappointed in me if I put off my 6 month checkup. She always remembers me when I stop in and performs all of the work herself. She is thorough in her explanations and lets you make an educated decision in whatever work she will be doing. Even though there isn't a dedicated parking lot, street parking is readily available. Side streets don't have meters and I can usually get a spot right next to her office or across the street next to the fire station. Hands down , the best practical, no nonsense dentist you will find in this day and age anywhere . She is a straight shooter and as gentle as they get. She practices dentistry and she does it well in a bare bones hands on 100% involved style .As she works on you , she gives you play by play on what she is doing and what you can expect. No surprises. I have been to about four dentists since moving to the LA area. Each one was unsatisfactory because they wanted to do extensive dental work immediately $$$ before even establishing rapport - treatment my previous out-of-state dentist had never mentioned. I thougt I'd never find a good dentist in this area. Dr. Deutsch really impressed me by her professionalism and knowledge. I would say that she is the "thinking person's dentist" because she gives you all the pros and cons of various treatment options and invites you to contribute to deciding on your treatment plan. Gave me a gold crown about ten years ago. So far, so good. Advances in dental technology have resulted in... crap. Seriously. Dentists used to do gold fillings and gold crowns, so older people are used to getting dental work that lasts for decades. Now they use garbage materials. I feel like I could ask Dr. Deutsch to give me a gold filling, and she'd know what I was talking about, unlike most dentists today. Dr. Deutsch also volunteers at a dental school, I believe, and I would guess that she has kept abreast of the latest technologies. Thank god she didn't use those technologies to give me some crappy porcelain crown, unlike another dentist I know. That other dentist gave me a crown that broke, fell out, and resulted in an abscess (and money pit). I think Dr. Deutsch is O.K. with amalgam fillings, which contain more mercury than I'm comfortable with, so if you don't want amalgam fillings, be sure to tell her that (and don't be surprised if you get a little push-back, as amalgam is stronger than white fillings, and Dr. Deutsch can be a little firm sometimes). Gold is the best, but it's expensive. read more

Dr. Deutsch is the most gentle dentist I have experienced. She has light hands and you hardly know she is cleaning your teeth. A few of the things that stand out: - Personal Service: many dentists and other professionals have secretaries or admins call to confirm appointments. Okay maybe the category isn't quite right but as a guy the closest thing to a day spa experience is when I have my teeth cleaned; which I do about 3 times a year. BTW Ladies, a great smile will do more for you than nice nails. Yes, in my opinion only a few things are sexier than a nice smile; clean teeth and good breath are a large part of that. After all, the money spent on grooming is wasted if you have a nasty smile or bad breath. Good and great are arbitrary and often we never get to experience great services because we've settled for good. So here's why Dr. Deutsch is my dentist of choice. Dr. Deutsch is incredibly passionate about her profession and it shows in her work. She's obviously a perfectionist, very competent and incredibly friendly. Thanks to my cycling accidents I've had the chance to spend time with lots of dentists throughout my life. I thought I had some pretty good ones over time but once I sat in Dr. Deutsch's chair I discovered what great was. I can't say enough about the quality of care I received and obviously others must agree because I was referred by a local. I also discovered that Dr. Deutsch has grown her practice by only word of mouth. She does not advertise, does not pay the fees to be listed on 1-800-dentist or any other listing/advertising service. (I hope everyone is aware that those finders' services all charge a fee and places service providers on the list based on how much they pay to be listed ... usually if you have to pay to get customers you probably suck). This was one of the most enjoyable dentist appointments I've ever had! Not only is Dr. Deutsch is an excellent dentist (knowledgeable, skilled, gentle, trustworthy and explained each thing she was doing and why throughout the check up and cleaning), she has such a happy, positive, friendly and welcoming vibe. You can definitely tell she really likes what she does. Even from the second I walked in the office, she was super nice and really seemed like she wanted to get to know me, like she really cared. I never felt rushed. She even apologized about all the new patient paperwork (even though I didn't think it was that much, especially for a new patient) and said to take my time with it if I needed to. We talked and laughed and joked throughout the whole appointment... I actually kinda had fun. She also never pushed to "upsell" any additional dental work like my previous dentist did. Went to Dr Deutsch for the first time this morning. I am the biggest chicken when it comes to the dentist. I have to say she is the best dentist I have been to in a looong time! Dr. Deutsch is wonderful! I had my first cleaning after 2 years of not seeing a dentist and it was easy and gentle. She did not try to sell me on any procedures I did not need which has happened to me with other dishonest dentists. I was able to get my first appointment within a couple weeks of calling. She runs everything herself so it may be hard to get her on the phone, but she is quick to respond to messages. Highly recommend! read more

I did not like her that much. She was very negative during my cleaning, complaining about everything and everyone. I asked her about my old crown, she flipped. She was saying she can not see anything that the gum was too deep and she could not see anything. So i never went again. She does not have any help. She does everything by her self which could be good, but also bad. read more

The reason I didn't give Dr. Deutsch a 5 star rating has more to do with the way her office is run then how she is as a dentist. I had no complaints with her per se but I found the fact she didn't have a full time receptionist a real pain in the butt. I have a 9 month old baby and I spent a lot of time playing phone tag with her office trying to reschedule an appointment.
