Dr. Heidi listened to my concerns/issue and knowing that she has dealt with similar back pain made me feel that I made the right decision. At about 3:30 a male assistant came in to the exam room and stated the Dr was still tied up and would be another 15 minutes. After another 15 minutes the assistant refutation to advise me the Dr was still with other patients and would be another 15 minutes...he did give me the MRI report. I waited,and waited and finally left. To date, I've not heard from Dr Johnson and I don't suppose I will. This is the third time Dr Johnson has been abusive to my scheduled appointments. When I left the exam room I met another lady patient of Dr Johnson and apparently he left her waiting as well. I do not believe he has any regard for his patients time and this behavior is rude and entirely unprofessional. I have otherwise received excellent care by the Doctors and staff at Panorama, so my experience with Dr Johnson seems disturbingly unusual.

We have 2 children at the facility that are suffering from a terrible neurological disease. They will never recover, and Rowan Community is their home. The staff treat them as such and take care of them like they are their own. You can't put a price tag or a star rating on that. If something were to happen to my wife or myself, we know that they would be taking care of. With that said, it is an older building and has a lot of the issues that come with an older building. They unfortunately are dealing with staff shortages much like every other business these days, but they are doing the best they can. Everyone pitches in to help. It is all hands-on deck when it comes to meal service, and they do the best they can. We are very involved with the care of our kids and you will find my wife there at least 3 times a week. Unfortunately, several of the residents have been forgotten by their family members and they expect the staff to just "handle" their needs. If you are looking for a state-of-the-art facility, Rowan probably isn't that. If you are looking for people who care, Rowan is the place.

My father was brought to Rowan after a back surgery for rehab, because it was affiliated with the VA. They seemed to be highly rated but this is the biggest nightmare of a care facility I've ever experienced in my life. This is the hell you send your loved ones to when they are dying! Before I even got there, my dad was texting us non-stop to come save him. He did not get breakfast because his dinner the night before was practically inedible. He begged us to bring him outside food. Upon walking in you are immediately hit with a smell of a mixture of morgue and mold-riddled cafe. Then you see the paint, decor, and bedding is all from the 1970s and 1980s. The beds spring boards and the mattresses are foam, not memory foam, regular camping mat foam. The beds at the hospital were more comfortable. The staff seemed mostly nice, but the Director of Nursing seemed to find us audacious for saying that the beds were not adequate. Dad was complaining of pain three times more in these beds than he did at the hospital before his surgery. I asked her how old the beds were, and she answered with "They are perfectly functional! What's wrong with them?!" That's not what I asked. The more I sat with my dad, the more triggered I got by the sounds and smells. It sounds like an insane asylum. Doors being slammed every 30 seconds, equipment knocking and slamming, staff yelling at each other across the halls, patients melting down, etc. There is no AC in the individual rooms. The PT center can only handle one patient at a time, and with as many patients as they had, I'm not sure how often they could have gotten around to my dad's care. As I walked to different places in the facility I was hit with what smells like feces and rotten menstrual pads. Then I had to get on the floor because my dad dropped his hearing aid battery and the floor was sticky. There were no chairs for visitors or patients to sit on. We sat on the unoccupied bed in the room and our backs started hurting as well.

The bridge health coordinator we worked with was slow communicating with us. This resulted in not getting seating next to each other on our return home after my wife's shoulder replacement surgery. My wife would have been forced to set in a center seat. I don't know about any one else, but having had a shoulder replaced the last thing I would want is to be stuck between two other people and be bumped back and forth. The hotel we were placed in was non-ADA compliment. We requested a different hotel, but were charged the difference between the two hotels. Their lack of communication and terrible travel plans for us caused us to incur additional expenses. I will be placing a complaint with my employer and bridge health due to these issues. And I would have probably died from it, eventually...it started in my shoulder and then migrated over time to my ribcage/clavicle. Your skin is crawling with them. And if everything balances out just right...it gets *into* your body, and then it's game on, especially if you're suffering from a depressed immune system. Mine started blossoming 3 days after I came down with the flu. It can happen from as little as scratching your skin, causing microincisions. It's not a fun thought to think about. And I can tell you, it can be excruciatingly painful. Dr. Ben Young is the head of the DIDC. He (along with Ken Greenberg, another PhD), provide top notch care of people in the Denver area dealing with infectious diseases. Dr, Young is Assistant Clinical Professor at CU's School of Medicine, and can sometimes be found abroad as well, sharing his expertise when he educates HIV providers in Russia, the Ukraine, and Eastern Europe. But on top of all that, he's friendly, he'll spend extra time with you conversing on the particulars of your issue, and most of all -- he's probably the most laidback doctor you'll ever meet -- his "cool factor" is way up the charts. I wanna do tequila slammers with this guy, that's how cool he is. (I think he agreed to it when I last visited him and got the "all clear" sign...thank God that nightmare is over...) And he removed a surgically-implanted IV line that was in my arm (long story) by telling me to take a deep breath and hum...and he pulled it right out of my arm like fishing line. I boggled at that!! If you have a low-grade fever for a long time, or feel exhausted continually, or have -- ha ha -- flu symptoms that *just don't add up to FLU* (like I did!), make an appointment here and see one of the fine physicians.
