He was able to get imaging done (that previous doctors did not do) and find a torn tendon in my big toe. Dr. Mechanik did my surgery and was so kind and detailed in his explanation as to what he was going to do. After surgery I was even able to get in for an emergency appointment to get more medication. He was gentle with every checkup and you could tell that he cared. As someone who didn't have a ton of $$$ for this, the staff went above and beyond to let me know about resources that have cheaper options (ex. lower costs for MRI imaging, free medical equipment rental, and finding a PT that wouldn't break the bank). I was truly blown away with how much this office cared. Every time I went in I was greeted by name (not my legal name listed on my chart) with smiles. Renee at the front desk is an angel. I cannot recommend them enough!

Dr. Blue saw me the same day as my initial call, and he prescribed a drug therapy that resolved the problem. He also offered to meet me in the early AM the following morning (before his office even opened, and before I needed to leave for the mountains), to give me shots in case the prescription was ineffective (the drug therapy works for some, but not others). This kind of patient care was common when I was a small child, but is unheard of today - thanks to Dr. Blue for bringing the "bedside manner" back to health care!

It COSTS LESS than a visit & remediation like this. It is the Mizuno Energy Waverider 26 shoe. For $95 on Amazon, they got me from hobbling pain to walking with my wife again. Since my experience in this office with the training didn't recommend it, I send it your way.

Decided, after googling, that it was probably a midfoot sprain. No biggie. Did red light therapy, sauna blanket, borrowed crutches and a boot. But friends and relatives kept nagging me to get an x-ray. I finally decided that I probably should. Called one sports medicine place on Timberline, left a message, and they NEVER CALLED ME BACK. Called Elite, spoke with Dr. Brown, and got an appointment for the next day!! Dr. Brown is wonderful! Very jolly, also extremely competent. The x-ray revealed an avulsion fracture, exactly what my aunt Nancy and my friend Brian thought. Sadly, I had no prizes to award, as I was hoping it would be a tendon or ligament sprain. Dr. Brown told me to take Calcium and vitamin D3, and suggested two more x-rays. He also gave me a flyer for a knee scooter, but alas it is self-propelled and therefore will not go 30 mph. Very disappointing. I was excited about the "All-terrain" model. I'm very happy that I found this podiatrist office. I really didn't went to go, but I'm not an idiot and needed to be able to tell my mother why I am wearing a boot. I was hoping to be able to wear shoes in NY, but that's not happening. On the plus side, I can bring twice as many, since I can only wear one :D If you need a podiatrist, I recommend Dr. Brown wholeheartedly.

The front desk proceeds to lose my old pair of orthotics that was to be refurbished. The business offers to replace the lost pair. When the replacement pair is finally made weeks later, the lift is on the wrong side. Finally, when I try to go pick up the fixed pair no one is at the office 15 minutes after the lunch hour. I have to return on a second trip the following day and call ahead to make sure someone will be there. Start to finish it was over a year to get a simple pair of orthotics! I would not recommend using this business. Shoot, the signs on the front door alone are super confusing. Half the time clients walk into the spa next door!! Looks elsewhere for services!

I am writing this to warn others about my experience with surgery at this facility. My entire life…read morehas been flipped upside down since my surgery with Dr. Cramer. I am 28, used to run half marathons and play soccer regularly, and now I struggle to walk or stand for more than five minutes. I have spent months essentially bedridden. Details below. I had surgery with Dr. Cramer in April 2026 for what I understood to be a very minor plantar plate tear in my right foot. I went into surgery expecting a straightforward repair so I could eventually return to running and sports. The surgery was far more extensive than necessary. My toe was left in a forced plantar-flexed position, a graft was added, and deep internal sutures were left in my foot. After surgery, my toe became extremely stiff and essentially locked. I developed severe, constant pain and could barely walk or stand. I couldn't cook, grocery shop, shower normally, or manage basic daily activities without help. I spent most of my time in bed with my foot elevated. I repeatedly told Dr. Cramer how much pain I was in. I was given antibiotics because an infection was suspected, but that did not resolve the problem. I also struggled to understand why my toe was becoming increasingly stiff and unable to move. I was told to "just start PT and keep going," but by that point the stiffness had progressed significantly. I was also presented with additional surgical options if things did not improve. At one point, I was told, "Well, at least you tried something!" That statement was incredibly upsetting. I wasn't casually "trying something." I was trying to fix what I understood to be a minor injury. I eventually sought a second opinion at Massachusetts General Hospital with their Orthopedic Surgeons. During my revision surgery, he found an over-scarred and tightened plantar capsule, removed deep nonabsorbable suture knots, released the scar tissue, addressed a bone spur, and released an EHL tendon that had become contracted into the surrounding tissue. He was also unable to identify an obvious plantar plate tear on the original MRIs, which made me question whether surgery had been necessary in the first place. What makes this especially difficult is that I specifically told Dr. Cramer I was moving abroad to start graduate school shortly after surgery and asked whether I would realistically be recovered in time. She was very confident that I would be and even told me I could drive about four weeks after surgery. Instead, months later, I was nowhere close to functioning normally. I am now living at home with my parents, unemployed, and dependent on them for basic things like meals. I had to defer graduate school for an entire year and postpone my wedding. I went from being an active athlete to struggling to walk up the stairs. The physical and emotional impact has been devastating, I truly don't wish this on my worst enemy. I am incredibly grateful that I was eventually able to get care from Massachusetts General Hospital (top doctors in the world), and that I now have a path forward. If you are considering surgery for a plantar plate injury, please get a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon instead of a podiatrist. I wish I had done that, but I didn't know. Your feet are too important to take chances with.
