He far surpasses many other doctors. Monday, April 13: admitted as inpatient. Surgery was performed and went well. Tuesday, April 14: discharged to go home - various items of mine were in the small hospital bag issued to me. Items include: 1 pair of white shorts black stripes; 1 pair of black Rothy's , and 1 pair of prescription glasses. As of this moment no one has contacted me with updates. My prescription glasses were approximately $300 and my Rothy slip on black canvas shoes were $150. The shorts were part of a set valued at $26. I had no bottoms. The third floor nurse kindly found me a pair of blue paper pants. My brief stay at Thomas Hospital went fabulously well until things could not be located. .... I still have incredible respect for Thomas Hospital. Things don't just walk off...I would like my items back. I look forward to hearing from you. ..Thank you, Becki Ducote

The level of systemic negligence and lack of communication at this facility is unacceptable. During…read morean emergency room visit for severe neurological symptoms, we explicitly requested a full tick-borne illness and Lyme disease panel. The attending Infectious Disease physician assured us the test was being completed. After being discharged, we waited two full weeks under the impression the lab results were pending, only to discover the test was never even drawn in the ER. We only found out when a lab order randomly showed up two weeks later--after my husband had already been started on antibiotics, which completely compromises the accuracy of standard antibody testing. Patients seeking emergency care rely on doctors to follow through on confirmed orders. Dropping the ball on basic diagnostic testing and leaving a family in limbo for weeks shows a shocking lack of patient care coordination.

I called AFC to see if they would accept us and they welcomed us with open arms. I explained to them that i would like to sit in the car until we were ready to be seen and they told me to just call them when i arrived. When i pulled up, i called, and the doctor got on the phone and explained to me that they will do whatever i feel most comfortable with. Two nurses met me at the door, checked me in and gave my paperwork and let me sit in the car and filled everything out because i did not want to bring my fussy daughter inside just yet or expose her to anything. The DOCTOR came out, brought my daughter a sticker to help soothe her. When it came time for the visit, which Only had a 5 minute wait period before being called back, we did vitals and the nurse was super sweet and gentle with my daughter who was not so cooperative. When we were moved to room, the doctor came in, brought my girl a teddy bear to KEEP, and blew up a glove and drew a face on it to keep her occupied. Still fussy, the doctor was quick as possible, explained the game plan, and when he came back in he stood off in the corner to not stress my daughter out even more. I can't begin to explain how thankful i am for this place and the care they gave my daughter and i. I will most definitely continue to use this facility for my family as long as i am here in Alabama. 11/10 recommend AFC to you and yours!

We were Traveling from out of state and thus was closest to where we were at the time. Realized I didn't have my ID and needed help uploading it on the app. She made a comment under her breath about if I had a better attitude she would have helped me. I asked her to write the very long email down she rambled off bc it was very long. Well that must be where she drew the line of her front desk clerical duties. Then the Doctor came up to the front and wow......her attitude completely left. Needless to say we left - but then as we get in the Lyft and shared the experience - I find out from a local they had been in trouble with the DEA. Truly never experienced anything to even compare to this experience in my life.

Although they called me the day before the procedure and confirmed that my insurance had approved and get my info, they "lost" it overnight which caused me to sit in the waiting room for several hours while they contacted my insurance company AGAIN for approval. The procedure itself went fast and was pain free. Once they called me back, I was out fast. The doctor explained the procedure to me and what he was doing as he did it. He also explained what to watch for afterwards and when to call to come back in if necessary. Everyone was nice and the place was clean, but the administrative staff clearly needs some work, hence the one docked star.

My 80 year old mother other experienced a neurological event & was sent to this location via…read moreambulance to be evaluated for a post stroke by a neurologist. A brain scan was ordered by the dr, but we were informed that her scan would have to wait for the already scheduled outpatient scans to be completed. It was in no way treated like an emergency situation, but I was told she should not leave before the scan was completed since the time frame for administering the medication treatment to stop or reverse the damage caused by a stroke was a small, hours lomg window...So please explain why her scan was treated as a non-utgent matter & why ER patients would ever not take priority in the order of operations?! My mother's neurological event occurred around 11 a.m. & the brain scan was not completed until 8 pm. If she had a stroke, that far surpasses the short window for the treatment options previously mentioned. This is gross negligence & highly irresponsible. Not to mention head ER nurse blatantly refused to call the imaging department to find out a time frame if when she would receive her scan that the hospital insisted she needed. Please explain to me why my 80 year old mother was left on a triage bay all day, to witness over 9 hours of horrific trauma patients right next to her for no apparent reason. If the scan wasnt done immediately, there was no point to holding her there. This ER visit at this hospital is the single worst excuse for medical care I've ever witnessed. ER patients should be priority over outpatient scheduled imaging in every single scenario, period. The scan was only completed when I was finally able to track down a physician in the hallway & explain just how long my mother had been waiting for a scan that was ordered for an emergency situation. Thankfully, he called the imaging department immediately & we were finally able to taje her home well after 9 pm. If there had been a stroke, it would have been far too late to administer the needed medication. Appalling behavior in behalf of the head nurse,he should be fired.
