Very disappointing experience! Money comes before the patient! I came in only for a dental cleaning, and despite they knew in advance that I don't consent to routine exams, they waited until I arrived to tell me they wouldn't clean my teeth without one. I lost two hours on a trip they could have easily prevented with a simple heads-up. Poor communication and inconsiderate of patient's time and money. read more

I wanted to express my extreme disappointment with my recent experience. Although the dental work completed was fine, what was frustrating was that the next day after I had the work done they texted with a promotion for the very work that I had done. The billing office knew how things have been financially tight for me, yet they would only offer to honor the promotion on future work which they were fully aware wasn't approved by Insurance. I had been told someone would call me, but only received a text response. Incredibly disappointing customer service. read more

Dr. Marie is very helpful and gentle, as I am afraid of the dentist. I have had IV sedation and was very satisfied with the work done. Unfortunately the billing dept is needlessly rude and sarcastic. I will probably take my business elsewhere because of the unpleasant billing department. read more

I recently moved back to the area this office was close. I visit the dentist every 3 months NEVER had major dental problems as discussed at this office. I walked in the door I wasn't greeted by the front desk I sat and waited for 15 minutes while listening to the three ladies at the front desk gossip about the other staff members. Then I was finally called back by the hygienist with long black hair only for her to tell me I need sealants I'm 30 years old(I had them when I was a kid) and to be told I need I need some laser and antibiotic treatment adding up to $400.00 then told by the doctor I needed $3,000.00 of treatment then went in to a room with a male who sounded like a car salesman he went on an on. Do not pay your bills online. I'm happy with the dental care I received, but the payment process left MUCH to be desired. When I received my bill I paid it online (on their website) the very next day. A month later, I received a past due notice. I brought my bill and confirmation of payment over to the office to sort things out. After checking the computer and seeing that no payments were ever applied to my account, the receptionist went back and spoke with whoever is in charge of billing. When the receptionist returned, I was told that "Yeah, you paid online on a Sunday, so we just didn't see it." Oh really? So you had my money for over a month and never bothered to try and determine who it was from or what it was for? Was it just an overage sitting around somewhere that you couldn't bother to account for in a month's time? I don't know what kind of bush league accountant you have over there, but they certainly aren't keeping track of all incoming funds. I've cancelled my future appointment as I refuse to do business with any organization that can't track it's money. And yes I'm sure it was a mistake, but it's a mistake that just cost them a patient. read more

Prior to visiting Dr. Brown, me and the dentist went hand in hand like peanut butter and....pickles. That's right, me no likey going to the dentist. Never have, never will. Until... I started coming to this lovely dental office! I've been a patient of Dr. Brown's for quite some time now, but I'll never forget my first visit. I honestly felt like I was more so at a spa than the dentist. Everyone was extremely calm and super nice. The whole staff is so personable and a pleasure to be around. I never feel pressured into getting work done that I don't want - they just honestly lay out your options, give you their opinion and then you take it from there. I cannot say this about a handful of prior dentists I've been too. I always felt like they were doing work and not explaining why it needed to be done! My visits to Dr. Brown's dentistry are legitimately educational! They have the latest in technology and are able to show you video, snapshots and everything else you need to know about or see in your mouth - right on the spot! I love this because I feel like I'm more educated on my dental hygiene and can make better decisions when deciding what to have cleaned and fixed. There are no surprises when it comes to cost either. Everything is spelled out for you up front before they work on your teeth. This is fantastic - I used to hate being smacked with a hefty bill after visiting the dentist! Last but not least - I love the little touches about this office. One day I must have looked cold because the dental hygienist offered me a blanket while I was in the chair! Much appreciated. They even give you Chapstick to put on your lips when you have to have your mouth open for a while AND sunglasses to wear since you're staring up at a bright light the whole time. This may sound silly, but I'm a fan! Dr. Brown always has referral incentives going on as well - anything from free trips to free teeth whitening. I'm telling you, this is not your typical dentist. This practice only cares about taking your money, they remind me of a sleezy car dealership. The work I had done here before I realized they are a bunch of crooks is terrible, the bridge I had done that I spent 4 grand on it and it's not sealed properly and already has a cavity on a tooth underneath it because of that. I also had one of their crowns break in half on me this morning during breakfast that is not even a year old yet, and my new dentist questions the material they used for it. So after spending thousands and thousands with these people I don't feel like my teeth problems were solved at all, and that I'm cheated out of my hard earned money. read more

I do have to update my review after another and last visit. I have to say this place tries to squeeze as much out of you as possible. I went to a different dentist 6 months after my last treatment here. While they do a good job, they do too much. I had a crown put in, and after two other dentist reviewed my same bite scans, my crown was not necessary. I paid for an $800 crown that could have been a filling. The squeezing for money really came into clear view after sitting with the billing girl again. Not so pleasant the second time around. They made it seem like I needed to have it done immediately, was pressured into opening a care credit card since I didn't have the funds right away and they shuffled me back into get the process started the same day so I couldn't really think about it or go get another opinion. Also turns out that I don't have periodontal gum disease that they diagnosed me with either. I don't need periodontal cleanings which are more frequent and my insurance doesn't cover. Convenient? Super disappointed in the way I was handled here. Positives, I've not had an issue with my crown luckily and I was happy with my cleanings when I was there. Please be cautious of billing department and get second opinions on major dental issues. read more

Seems like a really nice office! The front of the house is just super!!! Madeline has been so professional and helpful!!! Unfortunately I can't say anything else about this office as my visit was cut short by an overachieving, under performing hygienist who attempted taking my blood pressure (still not sure why...they didn't explain anything) on my ELBOW!!! 4 different readings with the cuff positioned incorrectly and getting the third degree about my medical history while the measurements were being made. Well the readings were ridiculous so she thought I was "having an episode" and ushered me out into the pouring rain to see my GP about her incompetence. She refused to provide the exam and the cleaning without medical clearance because the blood pressure in my elbow is high. She did consult the doctor but he didn't do much but accept her hypothesis. My advice is that if you are a new patient, refuse the blood pressure check unless it is necessary for some additional protocol (e.g. anesthesia, etc.), but don't let the hygienist take it!! Ask the doctor or if you have to position it yourself. read more

My sons went here hoping to get an adult dentist as they are all too old for their previous dentist. Each was told they had several cavities that needed attention. Their kid dentist did not say they needed treatment. Two sons then went to my dentist who assured them that they did not need any fillings. So beware. Also I thought the fact that they also offer botox was odd. And the office called several times urging treatment. They are not going back there. read more

I moved to Naperville a few years ago and put off finding a new dentist. After a few years I finally decided to stop procrastinating and get a new dentist. After searching around the internet I found Dr. Thomas Brown. The reviews were pretty good and his office is located close to my house, so I thought he would be a great fit for me and my family. I booked a cleaning and an exam, both were done back in February. The cleaning was great. The dental hygienist did a very good job with the teeth cleaning. She was very nice and extremely professional. However, that's about where this review turns south. After the cleaning they took some X-rays and I went and met with Dr. Brown's practice partner, Dr. Huguelet. She did an exam and looked at the X-rays. After the exam she said I was in need of two crowns...and had 12 cavities. That's right...14 teeth needed to be worked on. Now, I know its been a few years since I'd been to the dentist, but I take great care of my teeth and haven't had any issues, symptoms, or pain. Something didn't seem right. After the exam I went and met with their office manager to discuss my "Dental Care Plan". She discussed my insurance benefits and how much dental work I could afford to have done, but recommend I start with the crowns. It would take 5 visits to have all the work done. She even discussed possible financing...Something just felt completely off. I felt like I was at a used car dealership. At this point I told them I needed to get a second opinion before they could do any work. I made another appointment with a dentist in Elmhurst IL that my in laws have been going to for years, because I wanted someone I could trust. I had Dr. Brown's office send him the X-rays and inter-oral photos they took and he conducted an exam on me as well. Turns out, I don't have any cavities, and might need 1 crown in a year or two. You read that correctly...NO CAVITIES and I might need ONE CROWN in a year or two. Since my visit with Dr. Brown's office I received a letter in the mail explaining how much money I have left on my insurance benefits. The letter also states that, "restoring my mouth to a healthy condition is important to them" and "if you wait much longer, your condition could deteriorate, requiring more expensive treatment." Unreal...so, so, so unprofessional and even unethical. I'm very disappointed in Dr. Brown's practice. Unless you want to get ripped off and have unnecessary work done on your teeth, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. read more

We had been going to this dentist for a while. My wife went in to get her 20-year old mouthguard replaced. The dental nurse (?) insisted that she could repair it. My wife told her, "No, I want a new one - this is 20 years old." The staff member went away and reappeared after about 10 minutes, saying, "Dr. Brown agrees with me, we should just repair this - for the same price as a new one." My wife felt intimidated but reluctantly consented. At my next appointment, I mentioned this to Dr. Brown. He agreed to do an NEW mouthguard for my wife. She went in to have the mold made. The office manager just left us a message that they would only repair the old mouthguard and not make a new one. Why would we want to repair a 20-year-old mouthguard yet again? I too have had problems with this office. One time they gave me a new oral hygienist on her first day on the job. They should have supervised her. She really did not know what she was doing and made a lot of mistakes. When I complained, at first the staff just laughed at me but eventually they gave me $100 back. She's not working there anymore, but this shows how they did not properly supervise new hires. I had a problem with a tooth and complained that food was getting stuck there. They said, "No problem, we'll just watch it." Well, now I have a furcation at that point - which could have been avoided had they done something about it when I first mentioned it. One time I went in to have a mouthguard made. I told the appointment scheduler, "I will work with anyone but staffer X" (the one who intimidated my wife and who had gotten snooty with me after I asked her not to pull my beard). I insisted several times and the scheduler assured me that he would make sure I would not be seeing staffer X. Then when I showed up for my regular cleaning, I waited 45 minutes after the scheduled time, with no explanation on their part for the wait - only to find that I had been assigned to person X - the very person I had insisted I did not want to see! My overall impression is that the dentists have ceded control of this office to the staff. read more

This is as good as it gets when it comes to the Dentist. I came here almost a year ago because my coworker recommended them to me. I was completely nervous, as I hadn't been to the Dentist in too long to admit. I did not have a good dentist experience prior to this, which is why I was avoiding going. Anyway, both Dr. Brown and Dr. Marie are AMAZINGLY sweet. They explain every part of the process to you. The Dental Assistants are all very caring and thorough as well. They have amazing customer service too. I just had a root canal done by Dr. Brown, and he personally called me the next day to see how I was feeling. THAT is what sets them apart from the next dentist. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you are afraid of the Dentist, this business is the one to reassure you that not all dentists are scary. read more

I have been to several different dentists in the west suburban area growing up and Dr. Brown is the best one I have ever had. The office is very clean and the staff is very nice. They are very accommodating with my schedule and trying to fit in with short notice. My very first visit they had me sit down with someone in billing so I knew exactly what I would expect- this was very nice since I am now in charge of my own insurance for the first time. Dr. Brown is very nice and friendly- he is always willing to squeeze in a quick filling so I don't have to come back to the office. The hygienists are good with their critiques on my lack flossing and never push a product on me and make good suggestions to improve my dental hygiene. I hate the dentist...or at least I thought I did. I've been avoiding going to the dentist for years because, frankly, I'm freaked out by them. In the past, I've bit dentists, grabbed their arms during procedures, and yelled at them, all while keeping one eye on the nearest exit when I've needed to drag myself in there. Two weeks ago, that all changed. I was in an incredible amount of pain when I woke up from two molars that I knew were just waiting for an inconvenient time to fail on me and that's when I called Dr. Brown's office. They were able to see me right away and took x-rays that confirmed my fears: root canals and crowns. Thinking about the drill, the files, and the pain, I was ready to just walk right out and thank them for the images of my teeth but then...they introduced me to nitrous. I was set on IV sedation because of my anxiety and the amount of work that I needed done but it's kind of pricy so I thought I would at least give "the gas" a try to see if it worked and boy, did it! I had the first phase of two root canals while tapping my feet, joking with the dentist and hygienist and humming along to the soundtrack to the Prince of Egypt. No joke, it was amazing. Dr. Marie was incredibly thorough in explaining what work needed to be done, and in what order, to get me out of pain and back to having healthy teeth while keeping the cost manageable and in line with what my insurance would pay. Pat, in the finance department, was extremely generous as well, offering the nitrous for free to see if it would work. And Angie, the dental assistant who helped Dr. Marie, was friendly and very professional. I can't express my gratitude enough for making me comfortable to get back in the chair and ready to take on a treatment plan that, two weeks ago, would have kept me awake for days just thinking about. read more

Both doctors are excellent and able to address my family's needs including my younger son who is 8. The hygienists are excellent as well. They do their job right and have appointments available through out the day with hardly any wait. I have been to about 6-8 dentist offices and this office we have been with for 10 years now. I feel comfortable here with my dental anxiety and it took a few years to get my teeth/gums to where they should be and it great! I would absolutely recommend this Dentistry! I am currently getting Invisalign with Dr. Marie and my entire experience has been amazing so far! The office is super clean and up to date, so you can tell they take pride in their work. The staff is so friendly and respectful; you totally get that welcoming feeling when you're there. Dr. Marie and the hygienist who assisted her were AMAZING. I had never had braces or Invisalign before, and they did such a good job of letting me know what to expect. Their etiquette was relaxed but professional, so I've felt really comfortable the whole time. Honestly, not only do my teeth look and feel really healthy, but you can tell that they love what they do. Hands-down the worst experience I've ever had with any dentist. Aside from the fact that they are egregiously overpriced, when setting the original appointment I was told that the standard cleaning services were going to be conducted. Little did I know, upon my arrival I went through a series of x-rays, scans and ultimately spent 4 minutes with the dentist himself. I asked what was going to be done in terms of the cleaning I was told would be conducted and their response was "this initial appointment is to determine what is needed treatment wise." I did not want to make an issue out of it so I politely left. After a month, I get a call from my insurance company that over $2,000 was billed for the services provided. In addition to that, I began receiving bills and numerous calls daily from the dental office because they had exceeded my deductible and the difference was my responsibility to pay. Ironically, they were open to waiving the fees "if I scheduled my next appointment by the end of the year." So again, instead of making an issue out of it, I paid what was asked. At that point, I asked for my medical patient records to be released to me so that I could go to a more ethical dentist. All of a sudden, my patient files were misplaced or not available. After calling numerous times, being incredibly disrespected verbally and told I provided incorrect contact information they told me that the email I provided was incorrect. Even though they had contacted me via email, phone, mail and carrier pigeon prior. After THREE times of calling to ask for my patient files, I was essentially told to go pound sand. If you are looking to pay top dollar for TERRIBLE and UNETHICAL service, make sure you check this place out! I am livid beyond belief and while I am more than willing to pay a premium, I do not appreciate being treated the way I was and hope that this review prevents others from experiencing the same. I will be reporting this to the BBB and obviously would not recommend this financially motivated "medical" practice to ever treat me, my friends or my family. Proceed with caution. read more

After several visits here for basic cleanings and a couple fillings, I can honestly say I won't be back. Most recently, the fill in dentist screwed up filling a cavity causing re-appointment to correct the problem, where myself and my insurance was charged again later after being told no charge to correct their mistake. Also, I have made appointments with specific a hygienist but when I show up, that hygienist takes a different patient. I had an appointment with a specific dentist but was never informed that the dentist would not be there for my visit. I've showed up for appointments early but then don't get called for 30 minutes after appointment time. And the charges at time of service have on several occasions been slightly more than the EOB. Just too frustrating to keep going back here, even though they do a decent job. read more

I am a person who puts off going to the dentist as long as possible due to being traumatized as kid. My parents took me to an orthodontist who loved to pull teeth and since then I have always had the fear of going to a dentist. I was in so much pain and discomfort from 2 wisdom teeth that had never been a problem in the past. I finally had to give in to my fear and found Dr. Brown. I called up around 9:30 in the morning and explained how much pain and discomfort I was having and the person who answered the phone said if I could be there by 11:40. After I was brought into the room and had my teeth examined and me explaining where I thought the worst pain was coming from. It was decided that the top wisdom tooth had to come out and the tooth in front of that needed a crown (it had been cracked in half for years but no pain) and another tooth needed a filling. I chose to do the intravenous way, where I was slowly put to sleep and never felt a thing or heard what they were doing and I was given the novicane after I was out so never felt the injections in my mouth. To me this was the way to go for the work being done. I did have to go back a few days later for the other wisdom tooth which was probably the one causing the most pain in the first place but I couldn't tell where all the pain was coming from. Again I was put to sleep and never felt a thing and also had my teeth cleaned while I was sleeping. If I ever need any major work again I would do the intravenous in a heart beat. It is definitely the way to go. My last comment is how nice and personable all the staff was, they treat you like a friend not just a patient. Thank You Dr Brown. read more

Visited here for a free check up as I was interested in potential cosmetic work. As soon as I sat down I was pressured to immediately get the work done right there. When I remembered my credit card was being replaced in the mail, they urged me to make calls to have someone pay over the phone. In summary, they seem to push dental work on to you for profit. Free consultation which is nice, but don't expect to leave without papers claiming you need tons of work done. read more

My husband and I were getting ready to take a trip and found we both needed crown replacements before we left. Both the dentists (Dr. Marie and Dr. Cody along with Mary Carol) made the work we needed completed by using a same day crown method called a cerec crown. Along with excellent dental work, there was a good fit and color match. It is amazing that all the work is completed same day while you wait. My family and I have all been to the dentist regularly for many many years. I tried this office because it was close to home, but after all of us going a few times was greatly disappointed. As someone else mentioned in a review, I was told I had multiple cavities and needed a mouth guard. Other members of my family were also told they had cavities and needed multiple things. The hygienist recommended cleaning every 3 months for my husband and I, (insert eye roll). I feel like they are just trying to push services on you to have you return multiple times and make them money. I get it, its a business, but I find it very hard to believe that other dentists we went to for over 10+ years would miss that many cavities and issues. read more

I strongly recommend Dr. Brown for anyone if you are looking for a crown. The procedure went great and I'm very astonished on how my new crown looks exactly like my previous teeth but much better because it was decayed due to my previous root canal procedure. Dr. Brown walk me through the procedure and explain me throughly on the steps on getting the crown place in. I was nervous at first but now Im glad I went through the procedure due to the great outcome of my teeth. read more

I went to Dr. Brown on a recommendation of a friend. If you want to end up with a mouth of dentures he is your man. He told me I had 22 cavities that needed replacement with decay under each one. Since I go to the dentist every 6 months for my whole life I found this diagnosis hard to believe and I was 100% correct. After several appointments with long established dentists in the area I was told that my teeth were "fine" and one tooth which had a small crack needed to have the cavity replaced, which I did. Beware!!! If you don't watch your insurance papers they will try and over bill too. read more
