Dr. Blake and staff are simply a cut above the rest! Staff are kind, answer any and all questions and are incredibly helpful and accommodating-and that's the tooth (pun, groan)! The dental assistants make my teeth sparkle with thorough cleanings and are amicable. Dr. Blake is a highly skilled dentist. He is knowledgeable, thorough, takes the time and listens to his patients. He is arguably the best dentist in town. The ambiance and design of the office is absolutely gorgeous. A historic building, it is stunning in every way. I could just sit in the waiting room and read all day it's so lovely. Decked with orchids, a fantastic aroma from a warming candle, sparkling water and a Nespresso machine, the waiting room is divine. Some of the dental "rooms"(?) even contain a living wall lush with verdant plants for a beautiful and relaxing environment. Don't walk, run those chompers straight into Dr.Blake's office! read more

I only went here based on their location and the reviews. They're pretty professional about taking your money and showing it in their speech upfront as well. It's fine that they take my money but with a bogus shotty job, I've learned my lesson not to go back. If you want a doctor and staff that don't really care about your dental needs, rushes you and makes you feel badly for making an appointment there, then this place is for you. I came in for an appointment per the front desk receptionist/sales associate's pleasing words of their amenities....Telling me me over the phone that their units are basically state of the art bc I can use the xrays at all dental offices. Came in, their equipment was so old that the dental assistance was running back and forth to take pics like she was working hard but for me to pay $300 ...it was pretty subpar. The receptionist told me the X-ray was for $150 over the phone and upon leaving with an invoice, there was a surcharge of a crappy (moves tongue back and forth really quickly) cancer charge (that I didn't request) that docked me $300. There was also another patient that came in last minute and the doctor was not concentrating on me during my duration. Pretty horrible experience and made me feel subhuman for the most part. And going back to my usual doctor, they couldn't even use the pics bc she said,"they may use older technology that's not as comparable to ours." As in it was very old technology and usually at nice dental offices, they can pull it up online and on the computer immediately and without the quality degrading....usually the dentist would use a CD to put the dental pictures on, so you don't have to keep on asking for the pictures (as this office stated they'll offer) and use a panoramic dental X-ray (at nice offices.) This place seems to charge a lot for bad customer service with an inauthentic facade and definitely not a patient compassionate dental office. One front desk receptionist even told me That the doctor asked if she wanted a job at her old restaurant that she worked at. Not sure this is their passion and probably just a pay check..just don't project that to the paying patient. Just my opinion. read more

I just came back from his office... it his day off and he came in because a crown (not one of his) fell out! He was there cheerful as ever to take care of things. My first experience with Dr. Blake was during Fiesta Friday a few years ago, a tooth broke and I needed to see someone over the weekend. I called his office and since they were closed (Fiesta) they gave me his cell phone #!!! He still has his cell phone number on his answering machine, and he ANSWERS it!!!! The next morning he took care of my tooth. No concerns about billing or that I was a new patient. Actually apologized that the rest of the staff wastn't there. Since then he has replaced a few fillings with crowns and his work is top notch! Over and over I have been impressed with his great service! Wow, amazing staff and very attentive. I had an excellent experience here. Just the place I needed for my dental care. It was very hard to find a great place where they could know what I needed to be done and how honest they were with my treatment. This is so fabulous, I have a secure place to come and get great care of my lovely teeth. Their price is fair for the excellent results you get! I highly recommend this place, and obviously now is my place. Everytime I come to my appointment, front desk personnel is super attentive and kind. I always experienced a pleasant visit. Dr. Blake on the other hand is very proffesional and always care about his patient. He does an outstanding job, I am very picky when is related to my oral hygiene and he passes all my expectations. Very glad to have found Dr. Blake's office after a less-than-stellar experience at another local dentist. The staff is courteous and friendly, office is clean and comfortable, and I feel like everyone there has my best interests in mind. The hygienist was very thorough and spent a lot of time explaining how I can change my brushing habits to avoid problems in the future. This review is about ten years overdue -- my wife and I have been patients of Dr. Blake that long. Bottom line: No dentist in Santa Barbara could possibly be more skillful or have a better "chair side" manner. The reason I am finally getting around to writing this review is the wonderful new crown I am sporting. When I went in for its installation, Dr. Blake felt that it was just a nano-inch off, so he sent it back to the lab to be made PERFECT, and I returned a couple of days later to have the job finished. The dental hygienist in his office (Hattie) deserves a five-star Yelp review herself. (Perhaps I should post a photo of my lovely gums!) Great team in there! read more

HORRIBLE people. Really! I came in for an abscess. When I asked if I could forego full X-rays because COVID has affected our business, $$$, the doctor stormed in the room and attempted to intimidate me. As a large fit man in his late 50's, I am sure this worked in the past. Not this time. I fit the same description. It only served to shock and disappoint. When his assistant returned to the room begrudgingly giving me pricing before service, she was quick to be snarky, saying I'd only wasted their time. Evidently transparency isn't "a thing" with them. Inquiring what and why you're paying for a service was treated as a form of unwelcome harassment. I said I'd pass, but my wife who was waiting in the car with our children, with a much more serious issue, in pain, would come in for treatment. They refused to serve her based on my passing on paying for a service I felt was excessive in evaluating my condition. Isn't there some Code of Ethics regarding caring for a patient in pain. Highly recommend, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Blake and his entire office. Dr. Blake and Kisha have gone above and beyond for me. I had front veneers put on by a dentist in Los Angeles, and I've had a series of problems with them since moving to Santa Barbara. Dr. Blake has saved me by affixing them (in a way that no other dentist has been able to!!!) He has come in on his days off to help me, so I didn't have to hide my smile an entire weekend. When Dr. Blake was away on a trip, Kisha spent the morning calling other dentists around town to see where I could get in for a temporary solution. The dental service here is 110% better than any dentist I've ever seen - professional, thorough, patient, and the people who work here are so kind and accommodating. This is such a fantastic office. My girlfriend referred me to them, I've been putting off getting my teeth cleaned for over 2 years now, because I haven't found a dentist I like in SB. Everyone is amazingly helpful and welcoming, from Hope, the receptionist, to the hygienists, to Dr Blake. I had to go in first for xrays, then the next day for the cleaning. Krista cleaned my teeth, and I can't tout her enough. She explained everything she was doing, and what the results were expected to be, and how I shaped up. I felt informed which put me at ease during the cleaning. She knew I was sensitive in some area's by my gums, and for the first time, it didn't hurt one bit to get my teeth cleaned. The entire time I was in the office, I was comfortable and enjoying myself. They are a family practice, and will not up sell you on additional products. They are there to clean your teeth, and keep you happy. It's a breath of fresh air! I have seen Dr. Blake as a dentist for the past 5 years. I moved here from the east coast and was referred to him by one of his patients. I was immediately impressed by his professional dress, up to date office, and courteous staff. He carefully examined my mouth, identifying problem areas that needed improvement while confirming the quality of my previous dental care. My biggest worry was to start with a new dentist and have him/her tell me that I needed to redo everything my previous dentist had just completed. Nonetheless, he really approached my dental care in a slow and methodical manner which made me immediately trust his opinion and knowledge. Since meeting him I have had a number of crowns done which I feel have been completely perfectly. He adjusted my bite very carefully until it felt just right. Just recently I received my first dental implant which to my surprise was very straightforward and quite painless.
