First off, this is my second time leaving a review. The dishonest practices don't stop with them;…read morethe first review they requested it be taken down saying I was never their customer which is a flat out lie. See the screenshot of my appointment confirmation for proof. In addition to being liars who can't stand being called out, they not only manipulate the review system, they also manipulate the DHMO system. That is to say they take money to provide services, but then do everything they can to deny those services. For those of you who don't know how a DHMO works, the office that accepts DHMO gets paid a flat rate by your insurance, and in return they are supposed to give you the basic services like a cleaning a couple times a year. But that's not enough for this dentist, they make up fake issues and try to do unnecessary work in order to bring in extra money. Read some of the other reviews, it's horrifying. My personal experience was they made me run through a bunch of hoops to get a basic cleaning that I was due through my dental insurance. Extra xrays and exams, multiple appointment times on different days (so they can bill extra, doesn't matter to inconvenience the client). Then had the nerve to try and tell me I needed a couple thousand dollars worth of work done. I evidently have all kinds of problems that my former dentist that I saw twice a year never noticed. It was sus, so I went back to my former dentist to get a second opinion; he said there was no evidence I needed any of the work Beachside Dental was trying to get me to sign off on. They wanted to mess up my perfectly healthy teeth to make a buck. And no doubt have me follow up with additional expensive procedures later to fix the very real issues they would have likely caused. When Beachside found out I had gotten a second opinion, they refused to honor my insurance and DHMO and even do a cleaning. They "won" after all, collected money and didn't do the work they were supposed to. Run, don't walk away from this crooked practice.

Due to the confirmation of the veracity of the negative reviews by my own personal experience, I have chosen now to forgo dental care rather than get any done at this office. They are dishonest, and tried to have me get unnecessary work done, with the ominous prediction that things might not go well and a simple procedure could turn into a much more severe and expensive one (while I was under the proverbial knife/drill, with no options to back out). I have no doubt that the more expensive would have been quite likely, as it is apparent this practice is about drumming up large bills regardless of what is truly necessary. Even if you have a dental emergency, I would urge you to seek care somewhere else, or risk harm to both your budget and mouth. Like a bad mechanic, a bad dentist can make more problems for you than you had going in. You'll also notice no positive reviews within the last year. Some 5 star reviews from 4-5 years ago but anything recent is 1-2 stars.

She was aware of my situation, and she went above and beyond to assist me in gathering all the information that I needed. She called multiple offices on my behalf and did not hesitate giving her time to assist me in the most helpful way possible. They didn't pick up when I called, and then I kept getting emails that were obviously sent by AI - not real people; this should have been my first red flag. I showed up at my appointment and they informed me that I would not, in fact, be getting a cleaning, but rather getting a full dental exam and x-rays, and only after they made sure I had no severe issues would I be able to schedule a cleaning. I thought "whatever, I'm already here" and just went along with it because I wanted the cleaning. I brush and floss 2x per day and have no pain or discomfort, so I figured I would be fine. They told me that they weren't sure how soon I could get in for a cleaning after I was "cleared," but the woman at the front desk was perfectly nice and seemed to just be doing what she'd been told. I spent an hour in a half in that office doing god knows what. They put me in a million different machines before the actual dentist saw me. Dr. Vitez waltzed in with this extremely phony, patronizing voice and gave me this whole scripted schpiel that made me want to roll my eyes to the back of my head. She glanced at my scans and looked at my teeth for all of 2 minutes before she informed me that I had TEN CAVITIES that needed to be filled IMMEDIATELY and all at once. Oh - and suddenly they had wide open availability next week to get me in for my 10 fillings! I asked if I could just get a cleaning first and she told me no, for "liability reasons" I would have to get my 10 fillings first. When I got to the front desk to check out, they informed me that I would have to pay several hundred dollars for these fillings out of pocket (they would get a few thousand from the insurance company too). Total scammers who are clearly just trying to get a payday. I got the hell out of there and sent my x-rays to a different very reputable dentist who informed me that my x-rays looked TOTALLY FINE with no visible cavities or issues and warned me not to get treated at this place.

Dr. Hurtado and his staff always introduce me with a smile and they are so kind, not to mention extremely professional. Julio, the treatment coordinator, is simply awesome. He has impeccable patience, off the charts customer service, and just creates a positive and welcoming environment. Which, believe me, I NEED in a dental office. And then there's Myra, the office coordinator. Myra is another gem at Dr. Hurtado's office. Any questions regarding insurance or financial coordination - speak to Myra! She helped (over three years ago) develop a payment plan for a new Invisalign treatment that worked with my finances. I couldn't believe how transparent and upfront she was - after 6 months of financing and payoff, I know there was not any "fine text" or "disclaimers" from Myra. She has a heart of gold and is an absolute angel! Both dental assistants (Aracelli and Lindel) are extremely experienced, knowledgable and never less than professional. And last but not least, Dr. Hurtado, although I am not even sure where to begin. Dr. Hurtado spent so much time with me perfecting my Invisalign & complex dental treatment; I was really blown away by his attention to detail. He has created an absolutely exceptional practice in every capacity. The entire office staff are genuinely kind, incredibly friendly, and make a point of explaining procedures they need to perform with every little detail you could think of. A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Layus and although it's a bit more of a drive for me, I only usually visit the dentist twice a year so no biggie. Let me just say, I am so very very glad I switched! Dr. Layus is such a nice guy, and he made me feel very comfortable. I felt like he was honest and didn't try to upsell me the whole time (one of the reasons I left my previous dentist). He offers Invisalign, which I am very excited about because I've been considering doing it for a couple years now. My old dentist did not do Invisalign, so that's a huge plus. I am returning in a couple weeks to do a scan for Invisalign and will hopefully be able to get started soon after! The hygienist, Tatiana, was great and very knowledgeable about airway dentistry, which was another huge plus as I have recently been learning quite a bit about airway health, and she was able to give me some really wonderful insight. The woman at the front desk, Anayi (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) was really sweet and easy to work with. Overall I loved my experience here. My one and ONLY very small complaint is just that the waiting room is really small. But it's an older building, and they have made it look really nice and updated inside. The bathroom was clean (really important to me), and the whole office was decorated cute with beach and surf photos. I forgot to grab photos at my first visit, but I will be going back in a couple weeks to do my Invisalign scan and will update my review with photos then!
