I recently moved to Goleta from New York, where I had the best and same dentist for 10 years. Suddenly I broke a back tooth on some nacho chips. In a panic, not knowing a good dentist, the only one I was referred to was closed on Wednesdays. I went to Yelp and saw reviews on Goleta Dental Practice. They also accepted my insurance plan. I like the idea of a family practice, so I made an appointment. What a joy!!! Dr. Morteza Mazloom, DDS was the kindest, most soft spoken, gentlest dentist I have ever had. He was through and clear with what was going on with my tooth. He did a few x-ray's, put a temp filling (until he got insurance approval). He reviewed a few things he saw on the X-rays for the future and said we would work on a plan on my next visit. Work on a Plan...what is that..no dentist works on a plan....But he does. A plan for great dental health for life. What a treat....He also gave me a great cleaning...Not a tech but him. It was painless (even with some difficult plaque) and my smile is glowing. I was surprised by the fact that he did the cleaning but as a family business, maybe this is the way. If not...I got special, wonderful and excellent service If you need a dentist, pick a family practice, not a big box practice. Support local. Not sure if this practice has their negative reviews removed, or if we came on a bad day... my partner had a cleaning and X-rays done today and was very dissatisfied. She said that the dentist didn't even introduce himself, and was very rough with her teeth. He didn't explain what he was doing at all, and the front desk did not offer to help schedule a follow up or do a referral for her wisdom teeth extraction. Will not return. read more

Given the other reviews here, I was astounded with how poorly the dentist seemed to operate. I came for a simple cleaning and to check a few suspected cavities. To begin with, the operating room was rather disorderly and the equipment poorly-kept; and it was dark while they were working ()like lights off inside on a rainy day), which seemed like poor procedure. During the cleaning, he was extremely rough on my teeth and did not finish them (usually, a dentist will put a protective substance on your teeth after a cleaning and tell you not to eat or drink for two hours. He did not do this). Even worse, when I got home, I noticed that he had scuffed a few of my teeth, making a quite noticeable horizontal groove in one of my front teeth. As for the cavities, they took a few X-rays and said I has three they could take care of at another appointment. They did not discuss the treatment with me or indicate the cost. In the end, I cancelled that appointment and found a different dentist, who asked Dr. Mazloom to send the X-rays over to their office. When the x-rays arrived, it turned out that they were so blurry that the new dentist dd not feel comfortable using them and had to take new ones (turned out I had five cavities, not three). Maybe I was very unlucky, but they seemed truly awful to me. I switched to Dr. Dobransky, who was very good about discussing my treatment and generally seems much more competent (though his office is much less convenient to get to from UCSB by bus than Dr. Mazloom's). read more

I had never been to a dentist since I moved to Santa Barbara/Goleta area. I consulted Dr. Aryan Mazloom on a friend's recommendation when one of my molars partially broke. He was very thorough with the examination, X-ray scans and also explained the treatment options in detail. He was very gentle with my teeth cleaning process during the same visit. On my second visit he filled a couple of small cavities, and made me feel very comfortable in the dentist's chair. The prices were very reasonable and I had a small copay with my insurance. I am glad I have found Dr. Mazloom for regular visits and maintenance of good dental health. I would highly recommend him! This was my first time going to Goleta Dental Practice for a filling. Right away I noticed the differences between this Dentist and my last. I was called to go in right at my appointment time (no more waiting 30min+ after my appointment) I was taken care of by Dr. Aryan Mazloom who was incredibly kind and thoughtful. After my filling I told them I wanted to do a cleaning as soon as possible and when I told them I live far away they offered to do it right there and then.
