    [Experience with vehicle repair and car rental.]…read more My car broke down on the turnpike, and this was the ONLY place in Bedford that was A. open, B. worked on motors, and C. also rented cars. 3 hours from home, and 2 hours from my destination, I was stranded. the folks here were so kind and understanding of my situation. I was able to easily rent a car to get where I needed to go, and I would leave my car at the auto shop while they repaired it so that upon my return, I could return the rental and drive my car home. The rental process was easy, and, although I would have driven anything at that point, the rental was in great condition. The staff kept me in the loop with regards to the (bad) updates on my car throughout the duration of its stay, via phone calls and texts. When it became apparent that my car would NOT be fixed by the time my excursion was done, they worked out payment over the phone, and provided answers to all my questions. The car needed a new engine, a new radiator and a new coolant system. When it was time to me to pick my car up, the only available day was one where they were closed. They left my car for me in the lot, and I was able to get it with an extra pair of keys. I am NOT car-savvy, and I was in a really tough situation. These guys were professional but empathetic, and really held my hand through the whole thing. which, as a not-car-savvy person, was exactly what I needed. And if they weren't so far away, I'd absolutely go to them again.

    Husband was approved for vehicle. he decided to put down what they ask for. upon that was told he…read moreno longer qualified for vehicle. but they wanted him to go ahead and put insurance on a vehcile he didnt even have in his name yet. if he would have done that he would have been out the money for the insurance. what kind of practice is this? better educate your sales staff the price you quote isnt always the price you need to pay. tell people up front before someone gets the law involved due to mis representing your self

    WARNING!!! IGNORE my previous Reviews of Barnes Garage! Bob Barnes retired and there is a new and…read morehorrible owner. I made an appointment for an Inspection and for new tires. The appointment was made almost 1 week in advance. I showed up on the day of the appointment at 7:15 A.M. (they open at 6:30 A.M.). After I reviewed what was to be done for my vehicle, I was told that they would give me a call. I waited (wasted!), all day waiting for that call! They close at 5 P.M. I gave them until 5:10 P.M. and called back. When I called back, I got a recorded message that they were closed!!! I drove there, tried the locked door, saw someone was still inside and I knocked. The guy who said he would call answered the door. At first he did not seem to recognize me. Then he started to apologize with the feeble excuse of how busy they were that day. (How is that my problem?) He said that the tires did not come in. Was the vehicle inspected I asked? No, nothing was done to it and it was parked out on the street! He offered me a "loaner." What, will you be loaning me my own, perfectly working vehicle? I drove my vehicle home and I will never return. What type of way is that to treat a customer and to run a business? He deservers ZERO stars!

We were driving on I-70 through Pennsylvania on a Saturday night when my car began acting funny. We decided to grab a hotel and let a mechanic look into it the next morning. Sac has towing 24/7, but the service department did not open till sunday noon. At 12:30p Kevin, a 20-year veteran mechanic, looked at my car and realized the serpentine belt was broken, and within 15 mins he had taken it all apart and found the problem - the belt tensioner broke, breaking the belt. Luckily their parts store had another belt tensioner and belt, and he fixed it in about an hour. The parts were expensive, but since I have a volkswagen I'm used to paying thru the nose. Besides the parts, they only charged us $50 for one hour of labor. Yay! After they fixed it we drove the next 2 hours to Washington DC with no problems - plenty of time to enjoy the Obama Inauguration events.

The guys took my vehicle in the bay instantly. Figured out both problems, both simple, had us ready to go in ten minutes. The rest of the drive was peaceful. What wonderful service. Thank you so much. Totally saved our lives.
