Jerry and his team of 2 electrician just finished the installation of my Tesla wall connector. The communication started well with e-mail exchange between Maria and I with clear instructions to take pictures of my existing electric panels. Then they proceeded to schedule the install very timely, with daily communication and follow up. Very impressed. The team of 3 arrived to my house on time, they all wore mask, they explained clearly what they would do. They made sure I understood well and we did check some of the breakers. After a 2 hour install, everything was ready to go. They made sure the charger was connected to my wifi, we testing the charging and it was at full capacity. They touched the breakers to make sure they were not over heated and we tested my house lights again to make sure they turned on. They patched my wall and which was appreciated since they are electricians, not painters. The price was the same as agreed during our early phone call, no surprise. I called on Thistle Electric to help with a 240v outlet install for an EV charger. I can be pretty picky with contractors, so I researched a bit before choosing who I thought was the best choice. I'm not always right, but I was definitely right to choose Thistle Electric for my EV charger needs. Gerry was my main contact and he spent a lot of time explaining things to me. Even before sending me a quote, or scheduling the work, he seemed to care enough to call me and explain my needs based on photos I emailed. My job involved routing 100 feet from my outdoor electrical panel into the garage where I wanted to charge my car. I was very impressed how the crew did the work, keeping the area neat, and running the conduit in such a way that it looked super clean and professional. Price was reasonable. Scheduling was easy. We had Thistle install a ChargePoint EV charger and replace our 1956 Zinsco electrical panel, which we discovered was potentially dangerous. We found Gerry to be extremely responsive during the entire process, which involves not only us but the utility company (SCE) and the city (Torrance). SCE was terrible to work with, not only delaying our project by dropping the ball (not having an inspector follow up after a technician opened the meter, skipping an inspector appointment without any notice), but by sending a seemingly inexperienced inspector who initially insisted that our entire electrical panel had to be moved! Imagine the cost of rewiring essentially the entire house. After letting Gerry know about this, he apparently schooled the SCE inspector, who finally approved a panel upgrade in the current location ... but SCE cost us a three-week delay. The electricians from Thistle always showed up on time and worked the entire day. Always pleasant, they clearly regarded us as their *customer*. You could hear them on the phone with Gerry, who while not present 100% of the time, obviously stayed entirely on top of the installation work. Gerry got the Torrance work permit and met with the inspector for the final approval. The wiring in the panel could easily be considered artwork with everything neatly bent, routed, and zip-tied in place ... perfect evidence of the electricians awesome skills! We had Thistle install a NEMA 14-50 Tesla Charge Port in our garage. They had to run a 100 foot line from the panel in the backyard, through the house (via the attic) and out to the garage. Thistle was quick to respond to my request. They came out initially to inspect the property to ensure that the work could be done. The employees at Thistle, especially Gerry, were all very professional. When they walk into the house, they put on booties over their shoes and lay mats on the floor to keep things clean. This was a multi-day job, and some of the days were interrupted by rain. Thistle did a great job of communicating to me each day, if there would be work done. And once the rain stopped, they came back and finished the job (which happened to be New Years Eve). All of the work looks really good, and everything worked great. Researched electricians for a Tesla home charger install. Several folks recommended Thistle so i got a quote. I also received quotes from other electricians. Needed a C10 contractor (electrical) for the rebates from the state and AQMD. Gerry was not the most expensive but not the cheapest either, but rather he submitted a fair and equitable bid. But he has done several of the installs of this charger and he has a great rapport with the city inspectors. Gerry also demonstrated good knowledge of his trade and is a stickler for details. As an engineer, I appreciate all of these traits, so I would classify him as a Great Value. His crew was courteous, clean, professional, and knew what they needed to do to run 60' of conductor, installing the breakers, poking through stucco and dry wall, etc. Didn't need to run to the store to pick up something they forgot. They cleaned up after themselves as well. Took them the better part of 5 hours to complete the work (plus a lunch break). Started at 9am and finished up around 2pm. If you need to break dry wall, his guys repair it, but they don't sand/finish/paint, so be prepared for that. You'll probably have that issue with any C10 though. City inspector was happy with the work. Took less than 5 minutes to satisfy the inspector all work was done to code and sign everything off. Final bill was what was agreed to in his bid. He didn't nickel and dime me for making a change to the routing even though it resulted in a bit more material. (invoice included a $/length of conductor). Definitely highly recommend Gerry and Thistle for medium to large jobs. If have another job that requires permits and a C10 license, I would hire him again. read more

Can't recommend Thistle Electric enough. We will be using them for all our electrical needs going forward. I found them through the Tesla website as a recommended local electrician for installing my Wall Charger. I'm very glad I did. While the price was generally in line with some of the other quotes I was getting, it's the honesty, quality of work, and responsiveness that truly sets Thistle apart. I'll lay out some of the areas that I was very impressed with: 1) Thorough - Gerry (owner) took time to explain what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, and what the biggest drivers of cost were. Not only that, but their quote they provided had the best breakdown of what was going to be done and its cost. Makes it much easier to trust, and also know what you're going to get. 2) Honesty - Gerry did everything he said he was going to do. When the brand new dryer purchased for my duplex's laundry room wouldn't start, the installer suggested the problem was in the 240v power supply. The tenants had already been without a dryer for a week. So when my regular electrician told me he was booked for a week, I headed to Yelp and found Thistle Electric.
