But a new installation? weekend emergency? answer the phone on Sunday? Here's how this situation worked out. I was to leave town for the holidays and decided to check my house for problems, one of which has been my ancient hot water heater. This was an incredible 35 years old, qualifying for the some kind of world record. Sure enough, water was leaking onto the floor. And on Sunday afternoon. So I left a message and wrote an email. Within an hour or so Helene responded that the owner, Neil, would come the next morning. Neil was on schedule and offered to try to fix the leak, but it was due to an old fitting that might result in a bigger leak, and anyway replacement was overdue. One reason I'd postponed this for so long was I knew the job wouldn't be easy. The unit was jammed into a very small utility closet next to the HVAC. Neil gave me a very reasonable estimate, I could leave and the repair would be done in two days. As it turned out, the person I was to visit developed Covid. So I got to see Alix and Daniel do the work. It was not an easy job, many connections were outdated and needed to be brought to current code. The new unit is better insulated than the old so it was larger as well. Plus the old unit weighed a ton due to years of mineral deposits in the tank. But these guys made it happen. It is very apparent that Roman's Plumbing's goal is to make sure their clients know and understand their costs, the date and time of your appointment and at the job's completion what exactly Roman did. For twenty years my Dad lived alone. He always called Roman to help with plumbing repairs. We (Dad's out of state family) knew with certainty Roman would take great care of him. And Dad loved "visiting" with Roman. In Dad's later years, when he needed a bit more explanation of the plumbing issues, Roman was kind and patient with him. When it became time to sell Dad's house, we called Roman to fix the plumbing issues called out in the home inspection report. What I appreciated is that Roman took each issue noted by the inspector and gave us as his expert opinion. There was an issue that in his opinion did not need to be addressed.
