They base their claim of not having the skills to treat older people using outdated studies. The skills required to monitor for side effects are simple, require few skills and are as follows: Routine blood pressure checks and occasional kidney function recommended when increasing the dose of the medication. If the risk for side effects is insignificantly different at any age, do they have the skills to treat younger people when they have the same reaction or complications from the medication? Why don't they accept middle aged to older patients who don't want to take stimulants or just want to take the test? What do they do when a patient of long standing turns 55? Are these patients aware that they may be sent somewhere else, even if they are healthy and stable? If you know of anyone 55+currently being treated at this clinic, was referred somewhere else after they turned 55, or was denied treatment at any age due to complications or being at higher risk, please message me. In conclusion, if it is obvious they do have the skills to treat and monitor patients of all ages, why are they practicing ageism? I contacted them via their web form on Sunday March 21. I immediately got an email saying thanks for writing and they'd be contacting me shortly. Monday passed. Nothing. Tuesday passed. Nothing. I emailed late Tuesday asking what their turn around was and Heather wrote me back asking what my pressing issues were and a contact number. I replied that night. Then Wednesday passed. Nothing. Thursday passed. Nothing. And here we are on Friday with still no reply or call or voicemail. Nothing. Now I could have called. But let's face it I'm busy during the day. I dont have time to take or make calls. And all I wanted was to know if they had openings. To make things even better one of the things I wrote was that I had suicidal ideation. If we need her she does her best to get us in asap. We do virtual but have been in office once and it is a calming comfortable environment. Most recently I have started seeing Malia for one on one sessions and she has already given me some great tools for my anxiety and adhd symptoms. When he started at Bloom, he was minimally verbal. Only a few short phrases and they were rarely spoken spontaneously. We started seeing a huge difference in his speech and skills within a few weeks! It has been a little over a year and he is a completely different child. His speech has exploded and has a much easier time expressing his needs. Every member of Gray's team goes above and beyond to work together and communicate with us on his progress. It's incredibly overwhelming to not only find the right kind of care, but manage all of the back and forth admin. The staff has held my hand through all of this. Katie and Dan aren't just founders, they are highly invested in the families- and they make themselves accessible- far beyond what you would expect.
