I had the police take my youngest because of a behavior issue and was there for hours. But that's another story , and the reason I didn't want to take the older sister however I needed help with her. She was taken from school by a crisis team, and they stated it would be faster if they took her but NOPE it was not. 9 hours later they kept her, I left and when I came back I finally spoke with someone via phone due to staff not letting provider know that I was in the lobby. Anyway I let the provider know what was happening and that she needed a med wash because her meds were not working which my daughter told the crisis team. So I got a small list of facilities and started calling ( all denials). Then I got a call stating they had re evaluated her and was going to discharge her, not med wash nothing. I go and get her and instead of letting her change into the clothes she had on she was brought out in scrubs. Same pads I gave her were still in the bag. Was told that they don't have panties for the girls to change daily... so I'm guessing they let them shower and put on the same nasty undies they came in and been wearing if they were there for days waiting on a facility to approve them. UNBELIEVABLE Not to mention the bathroom in the waiting room..

My personal belongings including my electronics and wallet were immediately taken and I was unable to leave the property. Staff members personal cell phones are used to discuss personal, psychiatric, and medical information. Information that is protected under law is no longer safe as that information could be seen and sent to anyone. Appointments with medical and psychiatric doctors are held online and are overheard by other clients and staff. Conversation between staff regarding protected medical information is also often over heard by clients. There is absolutely no privacy. Videos and photos of myself and other clients were shared on staff personal cell phones without my knowledge or consent. There is absolutely no privacy when you are able to contact loved ones, medical providers, or legal representatives, as a member of staff listens to your conversations. Rules, policies, and procedures that were posted were changed when I pointed out several of the laws and policies that staff was not adhering to. The schedule that was posted was not followed, then changed when I asked about not being able to attend scheduled meetings, groups, and activities. There is no access to phone "privileges". There is a black out period when you initially check in, phone times then scheduled from 4pm to 730pm 3 times a week unless in groups or other "activities", and if there is a member of staff available to listen to the conversation. Often times "phone time" was denied. I had requested to call doctors office to cancel upcoming appointments and was denied for 3 days. Was denied access to check email and make calls in regards to FMLA and legal matters. I have also had extreme stomach issues since arriving at Sequoia and taking all prescribed medications. I had requested to contact a doctor several times a day for 4 days before access was given. Medication management is neglected. I was not given antibiotics and other medications as prescribed on multiple occasions. There is no holistic approach to treat clients as advertised. Was prescribed at 7 new medications during my stay there. Refusing medications was considered to be a "punishable offense". There is very limited "treatment" is actually offered. This included group therapy for several hours a day and one individual therapy session per week. I was able to attend one AA meeting in a 3 week period and one hike during that time considered to be recreational therapy. The treatment services are completely misrepresented on their website. My insurance was fraudulently billed for treatment I never received. A copy of medical records, all signed documents during my stay, and itemized billing information was requested. That request was denied and was never sent to me. I was was also called a "dick" by a behavioral health technician and disrespected on multiple occasions by several staff members. I over heard staff talking badly about myself and other clients on several occasions. Other clients can also attest to witnessing me being treated differently, singled out, and targeted due to lgbtq discrimination. There is also a "24 hour hold on all personal belongings". So although this was a place I went to on my own free will and checked in voluntarily, I was not given permission to call anyone for a ride home and was told if I wanted to leave, I could walk home without my wallet, cell phone, or any other personal property. I was told this at 1030pm, in 40 degree, rainy weather by the "director of operations".

I was losing myself and my way, just barely able to try and meet everyone else's needs, completely unaware of my own. I didn't want to fade away, but I knew for my heart and mind to engage I would need a good therapist. I read Carol's profile, and immediately knew she was the one. Her approach took into consideration sensitive people. In life I have been misunderstood by many. I was so often referred to as "sensitive". I tried to push this aspect of my personality, the deep feeling and thinking, down until I could just communicate on the surface. Looking back over the last 10 months I realize that Carol has respectfully guided me to a place where I can honor who I am and find a way to live in harmony with others in my life. It's a tricky balance, and I'm still working on it, but I have made progress. She has managed to provide insights that I had not seen on my own, because she listens and I believe truly cares about those she sees. I will forever be grateful for Carol, as she had had a profoundly positive effect on my life.

What Jess brings to the table is something more, which was a genuine concern for my child. On one of our conversatios she said " I went on this run and I was thinking about"... she was thinking about my kid and how to help. She made me feel like we ( we because as parents, things that affect our kids affect us) were "seen." I think more often than not people get complacent in their careers, including the medical or mental health field, which I would chalk up to human nature. However, she never made me feel like my kid was number or just another patient. She was someone going through something and Jess was going to figure it out. We had to stop seeing Jess due to some circumstances out of my control. Which only lead us to a merry go round of therapists and it wasn't until then, that I was able to fully appreciate her, not only for her emotional investment in my child but also for her instincts, which were proven to be spot on. While on that mental health merry go round, I learned that not every therapist has the capability to convey a genuine sense of commitment and concern for their client/patient , however Jess did. Taking on someone else's emotional pain, trauma, anxieties and fears has to be one of the hardest jobs I could imagine, especially when it comes to children...so I can understand having and internal shut off valve and not fault anyone needing to enact that protective mechanism. But as a parent who's child hurts....I sure as shit want someone who sees my kid, as I see them. Once again I saw Jess early in her career. Not only do I magine that she has gotten better with time but I imagine now that she has her own practice, she chooses people who values their clients as much as she does. ...I did recently refer someone here and they had positive reviews about Jess, Teena and the facility.

I attended the SABR program beginning in December 2022. The group was really great when run by Debbie McRae until May 2023. After that, I felt a very weird and uncomfortable shift, and the therapist that led the program left seemingly out of nowhere. In March 2023, Floyd Godfrey, the owner and executive director of Family Strategies was accused of sexual harassment by employees, and his license was voluntarily revoked as you can read for yourself here: azbbhe.us/node/1003. I encourage potential patients to do their own research into Floyd Godfrey and come to their own conclusions. Family Strategies has not provided honesty and transparency to clients to allow them to make the best and right decision for their care with all of the facts provided to them. It could have been handled so much better and the practice could have built trust with clients by being honest and transparent. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. The truth always comes out, and unfortunately, there's often more to a story so more may come to light in time. Even though Floyd Godfrey is no longer allowed to see patients, as the owner, he's still profiting off of clients so there's absolutely no way that I feel safe continuing services at this practice.  I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Family Strategies.

I thought this was great because it was close to my house, it had what I was looking for, and it was affordable for my partner and I. I unfortunately couldn't make the two initial appointments due to life circumstances and a bit of a misunderstanding with my partner; since he is still skeptical about doing mental health counseling. Once that was cleared up, I spoke to Sylvia and she instructed me to talk to the hospital manager. I called multiple times WITH THE OFFICE MANAGER'S EXTENSION, saying that I would like to schedule an appointment and that I really would like to move on from my crisis situation and improve my quality of life. I cannot comment because I never received care, let along quality care on the phone with anyone. I keep getting referred to the voicemail. I left numerous voicemails that were never answered. I only received a call back twice from Sylvia. Besides the aforementioned customer service representative, this place has no customer service whatsoever and ignores people who actually need help. This is a sad excuse for a non-medical counseling office. I should've just took my friends' advice and took advantage of veterans' resources. My mistake for trusting another source.
