What Jess brings to the table is something more, which was a genuine concern for my child. On one of our conversatios she said " I went on this run and I was thinking about"... she was thinking about my kid and how to help. She made me feel like we ( we because as parents, things that affect our kids affect us) were "seen." I think more often than not people get complacent in their careers, including the medical or mental health field, which I would chalk up to human nature. However, she never made me feel like my kid was number or just another patient. She was someone going through something and Jess was going to figure it out. We had to stop seeing Jess due to some circumstances out of my control. Which only lead us to a merry go round of therapists and it wasn't until then, that I was able to fully appreciate her, not only for her emotional investment in my child but also for her instincts, which were proven to be spot on. While on that mental health merry go round, I learned that not every therapist has the capability to convey a genuine sense of commitment and concern for their client/patient , however Jess did. Taking on someone else's emotional pain, trauma, anxieties and fears has to be one of the hardest jobs I could imagine, especially when it comes to children...so I can understand having and internal shut off valve and not fault anyone needing to enact that protective mechanism. But as a parent who's child hurts....I sure as shit want someone who sees my kid, as I see them. Once again I saw Jess early in her career. Not only do I magine that she has gotten better with time but I imagine now that she has her own practice, she chooses people who values their clients as much as she does. ...I did recently refer someone here and they had positive reviews about Jess, Teena and the facility.

Troy Stone is one of the better counselors I've been to. He is honest, calls you on your BS, relatable, and has plenty of examples. He will chat about your day-to-day stuff but he always pulls it back to - what is your goal and what is the science behind it (love language, attachment theory, trauma, etc.). Other MFT counselors I've gone to barely touch on such subjects which greatly hinders long term fixes - to fix what is wrong today you must understand where you came from. If you simply talk about what pissed you off last week and never touch on why or what happened to you in the past that predisposed you to those emotions... then you're just spinning your wheels.

This place is terrible I don't know where to start it's like hell on earth. The staff is only there…read morefor the money. The food is terrible. I lost 30 pounds from not eating no lie. The staff completely ignore your needs. There was some days when it stunk really bad in there the beds are uncomfortable it's hard to sleep. The staff also like to talk shit and won't assist you if they don't want to. The patients are loud and rude. There is no support from psychiatrists or social workers. If you want to make a phone call it is very loud and hard to hear. They sedate you with medication and expect you to be up and active. The staff also likes to mock and laugh at patients in there. They lie on the reports. If you have a loved one who needs help find a better place do not send them here it's completely inhumane how they treat you in there it fucked me up im sure there are better places who don't just see you as another paycheck.

The patients were ganging up on me telling me that they killed my cat and burned him in a fire, they accused me of doing things I have never done they never told me why i was there. the cops who brought me there gave me ativan in the back of the cop car so i have no idea how i got there or why i was even being pursued like a criminal. I was not charged with anything, they were trying to get me killed. They gave me something after they were saying stuff about killing my cat like i was the problem. They let the patients put laxative in my water and i shat on myself and they wouldn't let me change. I still don't know why I was in there or who put me there I would be better off dead than going to valleywise I ended up leaving behind everything and left that state.

I was losing myself and my way, just barely able to try and meet everyone else's needs, completely unaware of my own. I didn't want to fade away, but I knew for my heart and mind to engage I would need a good therapist. I read Carol's profile, and immediately knew she was the one. Her approach took into consideration sensitive people. In life I have been misunderstood by many. I was so often referred to as "sensitive". I tried to push this aspect of my personality, the deep feeling and thinking, down until I could just communicate on the surface. Looking back over the last 10 months I realize that Carol has respectfully guided me to a place where I can honor who I am and find a way to live in harmony with others in my life. It's a tricky balance, and I'm still working on it, but I have made progress. I attended the SABR program beginning in December 2022. The group was really great when run by Debbie McRae until May 2023. After that, I felt a very weird and uncomfortable shift, and the therapist that led the program left seemingly out of nowhere. In March 2023, Floyd Godfrey, the owner and executive director of Family Strategies was accused of sexual harassment by employees, and his license was voluntarily revoked as you can read for yourself here: azbbhe.us/node/1003. I encourage potential patients to do their own research into Floyd Godfrey and come to their own conclusions. Family Strategies has not provided honesty and transparency to clients to allow them to make the best and right decision for their care with all of the facts provided to them. It could have been handled so much better and the practice could have built trust with clients by being honest and transparent. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. The truth always comes out, and unfortunately, there's often more to a story so more may come to light in time. Even though Floyd Godfrey is no longer allowed to see patients, as the owner, he's still profiting off of clients so there's absolutely no way that I feel safe continuing services at this practice.  I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Family Strategies.

Beware!! This is a company who only wants your money. Despite what their mission statement is, they…read moreare for profit. They discharged my son because insurance "denied" more time requested. My son left on a Friday night, showed up to group Monday and was told "oh, your insurance approved 3 more days". This is not how you help addicts. My son needed more time per his clinical counselor but said it is up to our insurance. My insurance never denied more time, but since Evolution Way assumes he would be denied, they had him leave. My son did very well at this facility but money talks. They had others on a scholarship to stay when their insurance wouldn't pay, but wouldn't help my son. It took 5 messages left before someone returned my calls. My son has since OD and is currently homeless. Evolution Way did not return my son's phone calls for help either. So, my advice, make sure you have cash!!! It is hurtful when you think people care but when it comes down to it, they want the money.
