UNETHICAL is being kind. As others have stated, Thermotane randomly increases prices with zero advanced notice. Now they are breaching our contract by showing up four months early to refill our tank. Per our contract, we are to have our tank filled once per year. Our annual refill is to take place in August. I received a bill for a refill in April. Not only was this four months early, but the propane cost had gone up by over $1.10 as well. There was no answer as to WHY they chose to refill our tank early, without authorization, in breach of contract, only that there is no way to reverse the charge. I am currently waiting for a call back from Scott, the manager. read more

Does not disclose increases in gas and tank lease prices in advance. Price increases are significant. Will not remove their propane tank with over-priced gas when requested. Charges finance fees on invoices while they stall on the removal of the over-priced tank and gas prices that you are forced to use. Their tank lease and gas prices are above market competitors. read more

Well, a real pleasant change initially from when I had been with Amerigas for 21 years but it quickly has turned to a complete mistake! Trying to get a hold of anyone at any location is impossible! Had a hose installed on my porch that is approximately 8' in length when I only needed something 3' long. Technician told me that I could come and pick up a shorter one at the office. I explained to him that I had paid for the service of it being installed so he or another technician needs to bring out a shorter one and install it. Well, what a surprise, no one came out! SHOCKER!!!!! Decided to wait until I needed a refill so that was last week. Called and of course, had to leave a message and believe it or not, they contacted me back. (Must have been because there was something in it for them!) Told them about needing propane and a hose change out and she had indicated the hose would have to be a technician that would come out but they had me down for the propane. Had absolutely NO PROBLEM charging me ($70) for the propane before even letting me know when it would be delivered. I then get an email from a "project manager" letting me know that a shorter hose would have to be ordered and if I wanted to do that? Was then informed that a technician would have to come out and install because the bulk driver could not perform this swap out. I responded back that I felt as if she was indicating that I have to pay for this when it should have been done right the first time and what do you know, NO RESPONSE!!! Of course, by this time, I was not shocked at all as no one has bothered to respond back to me regarding this situation. I will update this review in the event I EVER get any resolution! read more

I would call this company unethical. They raised tank rental prices by 52% in one year and never notified us. They just charged our credit card as if it were business as usual. In addition, we asked them not to come to fill our tanks unless we called. We've made that request twice. But they continue to come and fill our tanks whenever they see fit and then they charge our credit card. They just filled a tank that we were planning to get rid of, and they say they can't take back the propane. Last, they filled our two tanks on two separate trips two days apart claiming that a car in the driveway wouldn't allow them access to the one tank. This resulted in an extra ~$30 hazmat fee, and the excuse about the car keeping them from the tank is just not true. Something has gone terribly wrong at Thermotane. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE.... completed my job and after just 3 uses in 2yrs, the firepit knob for propane release wore off and will not ignite. I called to see if they could work with me to fix it, since it should not wear down that quickly. Because I advised, I would expect them to work with me, within reason, they began avoiding my calls and still have not contacted me to reasonably rectify the situation. Even, if they decided to charge me full price, I at least deserve a call back, since I am a customer that has already paid for services, in the past. Very disappointing and shows a real lack of empathy for a paying customer... just terrible. UPDATE 11/2022- Thermotane claims the warranty ran out but NEVER offered to resolve issue, with reasonable pricing. Was told it would cost about 1K. I got professionals to fix the error for a fraction of that. The knob had an unnecessary piece on it that created the slipping. Again, if Thermotane would have taken the time to provide solid customer service, I could have lived with it. Unfortunately, they focus on dollars, without being fair to customers who spent thousands with them. Three/four uses in 2 years and it breaks.... Terrible experience...do not recommend. read more

I have to say the same as some of the other reviews not the same ethical and fair business it use to be. Trying to increase tank rental fees by over 200% in one year for a tank that was already in the ground. Claimed steel pricing driving increase. Two problems with that first off the tank is already purchased and steel prices don't affect something that is already purchased. Second off while steel prices spiked in 2021 they are currently almost the same as they were 6 years ago when this tank was originally installed. They think they have a captive audience there are plenty of suppliers out there we will see if they re think this supervisor is supposed to call. I will update review shortly. read more

Thermotane gas used to be a good and fair company 20+ years ago when we started getting gas delivery. Now, they have NO customer service and are overcharging customers by claiming "No Access" fees when they show up on any unexpected day they choose without regard to the many requests of day before phone call notification. They also charge late fees that they seem to make up without any fee schedules. Lastly, when they were notified 6 mos. ago that service was to be discontinued Dec 20 at the end of tank rental, they did not pick up, but showed up on Jan 4 2023 and filled the tank that was supposed to be removed, showed up again Jan 10, 2023 to pick up tank after my calling again, and now they are billing me for the tank full of gas + some other made up fees that they have included to the amount of $232. read more

I needed our gas fireplace reconnected, inspected and serviced. The company we had worked with in 2004 went out of business and the tank was removed in 2008. Long story short we decided we wanted our FP back.Several FP contractors wouldn't even talk me since it was over 15yo. Even Heat&Glo recommended someone in Ocala who said it would be $800 just to inspect it. THERMOTANE had already installed tank so they came back and started my FP. I have had an on going issue with them about a tank they installed underground. They keep telling me they are taking care of it and then we hear nothing. THREE YEARS ago the tank was installed and it's still not passed inspection. Do not use. The communication between office staff is non existent. The first time they installed it it literally came out of the ground because the installer "ran out of anchor" so when it rained it floated about 3 feet out of the ground. Started the permit process for an LP tank for a pool spawith this company on 10/25/2022. It is now 4 months later and I still haven't not received permit approval from the city. Their office is not responsive with phone calls nor email when I tried to inquire about the permit. When I did finally contact the company's permit point of contact she told me the city need my HOA letter of approval. She should have told me this 4 months ago before the permit was submitted to the city. Today I just found out that the permit was reject because the site drawings the company submitted did not include distances from the dwelling. These are very basic requirements that should be included with the initial permit submittal. I think this company is a scam stay away from them. read more

Beware of this company. We contracted with Thermotane of Central Florida (Sanford, FL) to install a propane tank for a fire pit and summer kitchen. They committed to an installation date that came and went without notification. After calling and only being able to speak to the rude operator, Thermotane showed up several weeks late, with an empty tank that took another month to get filled. The representative that filled the tank came and went without knocking on the door or leaving a notice. I had to figure out on my on that the tank had been filled. Six weeks later, when I had not received a final invoice for the work performed, Thermotane charged my credit card without notice or consent. Several calls to the office later, I was confronted again by the rude receptionist, who says that the office manager leaves everyday at 2:30pm, and basically told by the sales rep that he "doesn't own the company." Several people in our neighborhood use them, we have for several years. I don't rent from them (bought my tank) and we only use it for our fireplace but going on my experience and reading several comments on our community Facebook page, there's nothing but good experience with them. This is propane, they come and fill it in your tank...not complicated but they do a fine job and fair prices from my research. read more

I'm going to get to the point " Call them!" Very professional from the nice lady on the phone (Gracie) sales guy (Justin) and the installer (Ivan). I switched from electric stove to gas. In this order I called Sams Gas, Amerigas , Thompson gas, discount propane, Ferrellgas, Subarban gas, Lovelace and Thermotane. Amerigas actually came close but the estimate came in a month later. Thermotane was on it right away. And NO follow up from the other companies. I should not have to beg for a company to take my money. Ivan during installation explained everything to me. I bought a whole house generator from Colonial who apparently contracts with Thermotane. for service& installation. They are probably the one of the worst companies I've aver dealt with. On 1 occasion I scheduled an appointment with them, arranged to take the day off, only to be told on he day of the appt that they would not make it because their person had been ill for 2 weeks?!?! on August 15th, I scheduled another appointment with them for August 31st, made arrangements for work, day care, etc. only to called on August 29th at 2:19pm by Thermotane advising they would be at my place on August 30th instead of August 31st!! When I asked why the they waited to call me 1 day before the reset the new appointment date the answer was "something came up". When I asked to speak to a manager (Chandler) his ridiculous answer was "because its been raining everyday". Good thing this is a one-off, I would never, ever do business with them again. read more

Hummm I really like the owner when I signed up becausr they weren't trying to milk you for every penny and the driver that came to hook it up was very nice and helpful as well but since then the owner has retired and customer service and nothing is the sameI don't feel like a valuable customer and office girl spouts off all these different charges they could charge if your tank runs out, and then I'll be in the area and charge for destination,if this, if that, like a scare tactic. I'm very disappointed now. Told several times don't want automatic delivery yet they did and I had to pay for a service call just to ask the installer a question about lighting my antique stove? They credited my bill today for the automatic delivery let's see what happens from here. If it were my business I would love the installer to call and answer the question about relighting the antique stove so customer would be use the gas I'm selling so I can sell her more. Insanely expensive just to start service then they have the audacity to constantly bill you with extra unexpected charges, even when I never used any propane! Became a new customer when the Dad was running the business. Really liked him and the service. Chandler his son took over and now it is a totally different feel for the company and not in a good way! I had the same experience as the other reviews ARROGANT RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE one girl in particular spouting off HIGH FEES AND EXTRA CHARGES almost like its a threat. They tried to forces deliveries on me when I didnt need any gas when I was on will call only. Then left invoices for $50 NON DELIVERY CHARGES. When I called same RUDE office girl told me "We are in the business of selling propane" Obviously when you dont need it and not without any good customer service. LIED TO ME and told me they needed to do an inspection on the tank and when I asked the driver if he was going to inspect the tank he told me "He has never done a tank inspection" Then he top off the tank and used the SECRET CODE on the invoice (its a letter or something) and CHARGED ME $5.69 a gallon because they dont deliver on a regular basis. (well that is why I leased a big tank from you I didnt want to pay a $30? delivery fee everytime you can out to "top off" my tank. Already spoke with Ferrell Gas and got a better price and better customer service and they are installing a tank and getting better pricing and better customer server read more

I hired Colonial Generators in Sanford, FL to install and start up a stand by generator the end of July 2018. I have paid the $13,985.00, part of which ($3,400.00) was allotted to Thermotane for a buried and filled gas tank. They had me scheduled for installation on September 4 but then cancelled me along with 60 other Colonial customers. They have been uncooperative with Colonial Generators with regard to turning over file information (permits, etc.). I venture to guess there are probably some customers with medical needs who don't have their generators. A hurricane is headed for my front door today and I have no generator because of them. Their actions are highly unprofessional. I have nothing good to say about them. i would never hire them nor recommend them to anyone. read more

My experience with Thermotane in Sanford so far has been terrible. It started off great when the rep came to my home and discussed "everything" I needed to know about buying or leasing a tank. I opted to buy because it made the most sense for my situation. Everything rapidly went down hill from there. After I paid the deposit I didn't hear anything back for weeks. When I called I was told that the person with my file had already left for the day and they would have to call me back in the morning. This has been the line fed to me every time I have called since then, and I take it to mean they have no idea what they are doing and need time to get their crap in order before they actually talk to me. As luck would have it, when they called back at 7:30 am the next morning they had "just received" my permit and could start scheduling my install. Enter the next delay, because I didn't hear anything back for a week, and when I called back this time I got on the books for two weeks later. Install comes around and the men who get to my house have the wrong work order (not their fault, this goes back to the main office screwing up again). So I explain what actually needed to be done, and they modify their install plan, which now apparently no longer lines up with the permit and causes the rough inspection to fail. Of course nobody tells me any of this until I call the office more than a week later (again the lady with my file was out so I had to call back the next day). Now I am apparently waiting for the permit to be modified before the installers come back out to change something, then will have to wait for another round of inspections. All the while I have a trench in my yard that I cannot fill, and appliances that I cannot use. I am honestly one more screw up away from cancelling the whole thing and demanding a full refund, then going with one of their competitors, even if it ends up taking longer for me to get my tank installed. read more

Love this company! Someone answers the phone every time I call, compared to other propane companies I tried to get pricing from and instead only got long hold times. After speaking with a very upbeat girl, who had the courtesy to let me know I was on speaker phone so she could train another girl, I was informed of all pricing and fees. Everything was explained so well that I was able to reiterate it to my husband easily. He also had nothing but nice things to say after he called to set up our account. This was about 5 months ago and we have had a delivery every month, the driver is always very quick and professional. We have never had any issues with random fees added to our bill! read more
