There's so much cute trinkets and gifts at Therapy. Basically the first half of the store is gift items and home decor, with some accessories and jewelry. They had these two huge stuffed lemurs that i just wanted to pick and go "It's so FLUFFYYYY" The clothing section is well organized and not too pricey but finding a size might be harder. My husband has bought me many gifts over the years from Therapy which I have always enjoyed. They have a wide array of fun things from reasonably priced jewelry to cool novelty gifts and hip clothes. However BEWARE OF BUYING CHRISTMAS GIFTS HERE as their exchange policy is only 14 days. They do not do refunds under any circumstance, which I can understand to some degree, but a 14 day exchange policy is short when it comes to holiday gifts. I wanted to exchange two items that didn't fit properly, but I wrongly presumed they had a 30 day exchange policy. When I went to retrieve the gift receipt to make the exchange today, I noticed the 14 day policy. (The gifts were purchased on 12-23) When I called the store to verify that their policy really was indeed only 14 days, the salesperson said that because they are a family owned business and not a corporation that they do things differently. I found this reasoning a bit empty as Therapy isn't a "Small Mom-and-Pop Shop" considering they have 10 stores in some of the most popular boutique-filled Downtown shopping streets in the Bay Area -- San Francisco, Burlingame, Mountain View, Campbell, Los Altos, Pleasanton and Berkeley. There's Over-Delivering, the Norm, and then there's Under-Whelming. Zappos, with their 365 day return policy gets noteworthy buzz for providing awesome customer service. Most stores do a 30 day return/exchange policy, but 14 days is uncommon. Given that it's unusual, I suggest every time a customer asks for gift receipt during the holiday season that the salesperson emphasize the return policy so the purchaser can in turn point it out to the gift recipient. Either that or do a 30 day return policy during December. Disappointed that the gifts will go unused... read more

I dig Therapy. Stumbled upon this store for the first time when I moved to San Mateo a few years back - and fell in love instantly. It's like a cool, independent version of Urban Outfitters, without the pretentious indie staff that would rather sulk under their knit beanie than talk to customers. They have a great selection of cards and gifts that are funny, whimsical, and just plain stylish - I have gotten some cool jewelry here, my favorite piece being a pendant that features a vintage typewriter key with my initial ("S"). I love unique pieces like that - and I love supporting smaller businesses! When I take friends here, they are blown away by the great clothing section too. This store does have a lot of cute, unique little trinkets. But once again, I let my expectations be built up by reviews, aaaaggghhhhh!! So of course, I was disappointed. The one thing I did buy, a hook to hang my purse off a table, was pretty expensive at $15. The clothing, shoes and handbags didn't really fit my style but I will be back when I'm shopping for some whimsical and useless gifts. Therapy is evil. Or it's my favorite store ever. Both the SF and Mountain View locations are bigger, but this one wins for being the closest to my house. I wish it had been around back when we lived near Burlingame Avenue. I stop in here...well, whenever I can. It's my go-to store when I need sunglasses or unusual gifts. I'm liking this boutique! It has both affordable and "anthropologie" labels for both men and women. It has the cool trinkets similar to what Urban Outfitters sells. They also have cool art that you normally don't see in certain stores, i.e. Cost Plus. The clothes are too cute! The customer service is helpful. When they were sold out of something, they shipped the item from another store to theirs without a charge. I am definitely a fan! read more

I enjoy going to this place when I need retail therapy. Yes, it is also coincidental that there is another store by that name within walking distance, but this store is my FAV in Burlingame. I must admit that Therapy items are a little more higher than what my wallet can afford, which for me, the name suits perfectly with the post-shopping aftermath... a front of the line spot for shopping addiction therapy. One of my latest addictions. With eclectic pieces ranging from clothes, shoes, to even housewares, Therapy, is a unique, modern, boutique shop. The staff at the Burlingame location are super friendly and accomodating to each customer that walks into their store. Although, this location is a bit smaller in comparison to the SF one, its a lot closer to me. However, a Suggestion that I would push all Therapy stores to take notice is to have more variety in their shoe sizes as all of their cute shoes don't come in my tiny size of women's size 5! Nonetheless, I still would come back to shop at therapy. read more

If I liked Paul Frank more, this might be a 5 star spot. Hip, but not so much that I feel like a nerd. They always seem to have a good selection of moderately priced, as well as splurge-worthy, items. Therapy definitely leans towards casual clothes tees and jeans. There's a good bit of summer dresses, but not so much for fancier party dresses. Shoes are often on sale and I always peruse the handbag and jewelry sections too! I like that it combines clothes and gift items -- I can shop for myself and pick up a birthday gift all at the same time. If I had more money, I'd shop here more and probably knock it up to 5 stars, but I just haven't bought a boatload of items here (how's that for twisted logic?). read more

Therapy is a cute little urban boutique like the ones in SF, but without the hassle of parking in the Haight or on Union St. They have a good mix of affordable and higher end labels. Beyond the girly clothes, I especially like their huge selection of unique purses and wallets. The first time I came, I bought a silk'ish Moroccan wallet that I constantly get compliments on for only $18! They usually have a great sales rack. This past Friday, I tried on a bunch of things (jacket, dresses, and tops), but unfortunately left without a purchase. I loved everything when they were on the hangers, but it's not their fault I'm feeling like a fatty right now. An extra star for this location being open past 7 pm, which seems to be the usual time boutiques close. It's impossible to get to these stores after work when they close so early and I always try to avoid the crowds of weekend shopping. So I was excited to see the store still open on Friday night at 7:45. When I left after 8 pm, the store was still open. read more

Prices are higher than Francesca's Collection across the street but they do not have semi higher end brands. Look out of the sale rack in the back also...have found some dresses as low as $9.99-$29.99! Service here is friendly- the associates are nice and are here to help. I love this store, it's a great place for little trinkets, home decor, and gifts. You can never go wrong with buying someone a gift from Therapy, everything is either really funny or really cute. This is less a review of the inventory of the store and more a commendation of the wonderfully helpful staff at this location. My girlfriend had bought me the best jacket evar for Christmas but it was a little small for me. The didn't have any left at the SF store so my sweetheart started calling around. The sales girl at the Burlingame Therapy, Nina, went out of her way during the busy holiday season to do an inventory search (she physically went to find the thing in the post-holiday sale warzone). Then she did the amazing. She returned the call to let us know she found the jacket. If you've ever left your number with a retail store you'll understand how amazing it is to actually receive a call back. When we came to exchange the jacket, Nina gave a solid confirmation that the larger size fit me better. After she had me do things like stick out and cross my arms and other poses that made me think she knew her stuff... but might have just been entertainment at my expense... I had piece of mind that I was leaving with the right one. If that wasn't enough, Nina and the other sales staff patiently helped us figure out some exchange and price adjustments that would have given a banker a headache. Because of the attention to customer service (and a healthy store credit) I will be back at Therapy in the near future, and will recommend it to friends. read more

As evident from my Yelp, I spend my money on good food and drink rather than clothes, which is something that I'd like to change. Most of my work wear comes from Gap or Old Navy or Bloomingdales, because I'd been intimidated by boutique stores and just the atmosphere overall... I'm picky about cuts and fits, and I was nervous about sizing and JUDGEMENT! Thankfully Therapy revised all of my preconceived notions about boutique clothing shopping. The sales women were super friendly and warm, amazingly accommodating and so encouraging. I had one sales girl concentrating on helping me - pulling items for consideration while I was trying on others based on the things that I had selected to bring into the fitting room, but it felt like a fun party vibe with the other girls on the floor stopping by to compliment. I felt like I was clothes shopping with my best friend and some sisters - who all had their attention on ME. Aside from the warm service, I also didn't feel awkward at all asking for a different size or a less expensive sweater, for example. The clothes are all really nice quality and I didn't see a lot of hit-or-miss dodgy quality brands like you find at places like Asos. I'll trek to Burlingame for a fun productive shopping experience any day. read more

I love stopping in this little Therapy spot as I walk around Burlingame Ave. Though I don't usually buy the little knick knacks, it's fun to look through. There's cards, purses, jewelry, seasonal gifts and all sorts of random fun. The clothes vary in prices and styles. And it's helpful that the clothes are organized by colors, makes looking through the racks fun! The last few times I was at Therapy I bought cute dresses - floral and bright colors, perfect for summer. And the cute dresses were only around $40! There's dressing rooms to try the clothes. And though I've never come across this problem, each time I've been there, the sales people are always helping customers find a size for them even if it requires them calling their other branches and sending it over. I was surprised there was a Therapy outside San Francisco, all along I thought it was a local mom and pop which I have been a patron for probably a decade now. This one has the same vibe, staff are extremely nice like the ones in SF. Got great clothing and knick knack collections which I come for. This store is so chic and funky at the same time. I love it. Shopping here makes me feel okay that I live outside of the city and makes me feel good that I'm supporting local business. There is so much good stuff and the staff don't act "too cool for school". They are friendly and helpful. They have great gift ideas for everyone. I like to park off Burlingame Ave and walk down Lorton to get where I need to go. I've always walked by the place, maybe even browsed through their sale rack on the street but never stepped in the store. Love the mix of items they sell and the clothes. Super sweet sales associates helped me out today. Found a cute dress on sale for $29.99. Got mad that a dress I had purchased at Ambiance a few months ago was about 40% off their regular price. I come to Therapy once in awhile, and every time I come, I never leave empty handed. I always end up buying something haha They've moved to a new location that was difficult to find at first, but still the same great clothes, accessories, and super friendly staff. I love me some Therapy. The first Therapy I went to was in San Luis Obispo many years ago. Then I went to the one in Mountain View. And then by coincidence, my hairstylist thought I would love this "particular store" around the corner (referring to Therapy). When I walked in, I had a big smile on my face b/c I had missed this store (the SLO location was full of great memories). I had no clue it was here until it was mentioned to me. I wish the clothing selection was larger but, personally, I think I'm asking for too much (lol)-- it's more of a boutique store (no mass production). Prices are very reasonable; not the insane boutique prices. I love all the unique accessories and gifts (some are silly and random items; silly quoted magnets, cute pic frames, etc). Bah! This place is dangerous. I discovered this Therapy location and spent 3 hours there trying on their adorable sweaters and dresses. I ended up spending a sh**tload of money because their customer service is fantastic and their clothing is unique and fits well. Plus, they had plenty of stuff to entertain my poor boyfriend, who lets me drag him there on the weekends. My only wish is that they have slightly lower prices so that I have enough money left to buy groceries... Other goodies they have include tees, jeans, cardis, jackets, purses, and hilarious knick knacks. I feel better supporting this small chain of boutiques than a pretentious, overpriced Urban Outfitters filled with booty sweater shorts. Love the girls at Therapy BG! They're all awesome and have made my visits to the stores I much fun! I know most people wrote about the clothes or presents, but I actually marvel at some of the cookbooks they have. I found some books I thought were surprisingly very foodie driven. This place is a wonderland of little knick knacks and cool random stuff. It's in the heart of downtown Burlingame. I bought a pair of druzy earrings there that I am completely obsessed with. The first time I wore them, my friend made me take them off so she could look at them more closely. I also bought a bottle of rich, luscious lotion that even my hubby loves to use. The saleswoman was super nice and friendly and suggested things for me to look at. Great experience! read more

I always chuckle a little when I turn to ask a friend, "Wanna go to Therapy?" I stumbled upon Therapy after dining at Nectar one evening and vowed to visit again. I'm impressed by their selection of unique clothing (men, children, & women), handbags, accessories, necessities such as Spanx!, shoes, house ware, and random trinkets such as bacon luggage stickers, ha! It is a boutique with not-so-boutique prices, I appreciate that. I can find something unique without having to pay with an arm & a leg. My first time there, last weekend, I walked away with 2 dresses, and a gift for my best friend's upcoming flirty 30, which can I just say, I was eyeing a necklace on nordstrom.com and found the same exact necklace at Therapy for $18 less! Alex hooked me up with the discount anyways. sweet! picked up a cute dress and necklace that I'd been eyeing forever :) Love that Therapy has unique items that you might see on etsy and other smaller shops. Some of the clothing/outerwear can be pricey, especially with copycats nowadays that you can get cheaper at the local mall. But you're shopping on the Ave, so you pay the price - unless you hit up their sales :) So glad that I work close to their SF location on Valencia and live walking distance to their new location in Bgame....maybe my wallet isn't so happy. hee hee. read more
