At her first appointment, there was inclement weather, and we completely understand Stacey's concern for her children's whereabouts. However, I felt it unfair that my mother lost time at her paid appointment due to this. Stacey told her she had another client directly after her, and she refused to go over exercises with her. In addition, the location was unable to schedule her next appointment until March 2020, which was more than 7 weeks out? How is it that you accept a new patient, and you fail to accommodate? The office called several times with cancelations for the same week she had therapy? She did not need therapy the same week, she needed an appointment 2 weeks thereafter. They told us they are short-staffed and Stacey was the only therapist on hand. How is this our problem? I will say the other Duke locations are great, and they are very accommodating, but I would not go back to this particular location again, even if it closely located.

I Left With a Punctured Lung and Little Accountability... Please read before you seek care there…read more I underwent what I believed were routine trigger point injections, and what followed was one of the most frightening medical experiences of my life. Immediately after the procedure, I developed symptoms that ultimately led to the diagnosis of a punctured lung (pneumothorax). I required emergency treatment, hospitalization, and placement of a chest tube. I experienced significant pain, difficulty taking deep breaths, missed work, and weeks of recovery from an injury that never should have occurred during what was presented as a relatively straightforward procedure. What has been equally disappointing is how the practice handled the situation afterward. Rather than accepting meaningful responsibility or attempting to make things right, I received what amounted to an apology accompanied by statements that the procedure was performed within the standard of care. Their position was essentially that complications can happen, and therefore no further action was warranted. In my case, I was never informed that a punctured lung was a risk of the trigger point injections I received. Had I understood that risk, I would have asked additional questions before consenting. Patients deserve informed consent that is specific to the procedure actually being performed. While the practice stated they reviewed my case and even identified opportunities to improve their documentation and procedural processes, those acknowledgments have done nothing to address the physical pain, emotional distress, lost income, and disruption this complication caused. Mistakes and complications can occur in medicine. What defines a practice is how it responds when they do. I expected accountability, transparency, and a sincere effort to resolve the situation fairly. Instead, I was left feeling that protecting the practice was more important than caring for the patient who was harmed. I hope future patients never experience what I did, and I hope the practice follows through on whatever changes they identified during their internal review. My experience, however, left me deeply disappointed and without confidence that patients are truly supported when serious complications occur.

Be careful when parking and try to park far away from others to protect your vehicle from potential damage. The security guard was super friendly. When checking in, you do so on an iPad that the front desk gives you. The front desk staff was NOT friendly at all. The 4 stars is mainly because of the nurse, who was friendly, and the PA (Jason). Jason didn't rush the visit and allowed my friend to ask as many questions as he needed to. They made the experience great and less stressful for my friend who had to get stitches removed. Dr Alonso is my newest favorite doctor. I was referred to him by Durham VA community care for my…read moresleep apnea. My claustrophobia and recalls on CPAP is why I'm being treated via a mandible device for my sleep apnea. The process was relatively easy. He made cast of my upper and lower teeth. The impressions are then used in lab to construct my custom mouth piece that pushes my jaw forward to prevent my tongue obstructing my breathing and snoring. I was lucky my device came back within 3 weeks. His staff called me in for instructions they are very helpful and friendly. He explained how to adjust the device which has a tiny key that can push your jaw further out or inward. My device came in a nice dental case for storage and cleaning it is a snap. It gets brushed and cleaned as my own teeth then dry it store until bedtime. He also made me a retainer to wear in the mornings after removing my device. I practiced inserting device with Dr until I was confident. Now I wasn't sure id feel any relief or get any sleep with this but boy was I pleased. Dr had told me that I have a large tongue which is why I have obstructive sleep apnea. Id tried several over the counter sleep guards and tongue devices to no relief. My 1st night I was convinced omg it keeps me from grinding or locking my jaws so much when my mind is racing or can't sleep. It so helps my TMJ pain already the next morning I awoke feeling that I actually got gd rest and wasn't so tired. Dr Alonso and I discussed getting the approval to add Botox injections into my TMJ areas to help with pain as well. He also suggested trying Voltaren gel on my jaw at night which is helping. If you have sleep apnea and have insurance ask your Dr are you a candidate. Its something I wish I had years ago. After a few months I will have new sleep study while wearing device to check if its helping my sleep apnea while the monitoring is happening. BUENOS NOCHES!

He kept having me come back all the time not making me better until I finally put a stop to it. When one is in chronic pain you will do almost anything to get out of it. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I tried to complain to the practice manager about the exorbitant prices. I also talked to Duke patient advocacy about Dr Park's promises and the cost. For months I tried to get a phone call back from them. When I finally did they did nothing. This was a complete waste of money and to me very unprofessional. Again I felt very taken advantage of. I get care from both Dr. Ping and my western med physician. Each of them can do some things the other can't. Dr. Ping doesn't perform surgery or send referrals for ultrasounds, x-rays, or CT scans. My western doc doesn't provide plant based medications, or acupuncture. I value them both yet I depend on Dr. Ping in my unhealthiest moments.
