    Cute coffee shop

This place is so cute! The highlight of my short stop at Rock Island was finding this coffee spot. Hubby and I stopped by to get coffee. I have NEVER been to Rock Island, so thank goodness there was yelp to help out. Anyway, walking in, it was a cozy coffee shop that offered a variety of food items, sandwiches, teas, coffee and a whole bunch more. The 2 baristas working were friendly. They were patient with all my questions and they took the time to explain some favorites. I ended up getting an eggnog latte (which they make from REAL eggnog, NOT a mix or powder) The latte not only warmed this Hawaii girl up, but tasted so creamy and delicious. The coffee was smooth! There was no need to add any sugar. It tasted fantastic. Overall, if you ever find yourself around the area, this is a nice place to grab some coffee and snacks.

A clubby coffee shop with a few breakfast foods and several more deli sandwiches, Theo's is good for start of day, midday, or windin down end of day. Has a comfortable, casual vibe much like hangin out in your best friend's apartment. Across the street from the downtown Holiday Inn, it's a cooler breakfast alternative to the hotel's chain restaurant.

Just move to the Quad Cities and decided on a whim to try this place out. Staff was very friendly and relaxed. It was obvious they liked working here, which is a huge sign of a good business. When I hesitated on what to order, the barista suggested the Toddy - a 24 hour cold brew over ice with milk and lightly sweetened. BEST DECISION EVER. It was so delicious! I also got a veggie breakfast burrito which was amazing. Very laid back vibe, Sinatra playing in the background. All sorts of customers came in, from hipsters to the elderly to businessmen. There were regulars the baristas knew by name and they greeted each other like old friends. I will definitely be coming back!

Definitely love this java joint! My husband stopped in first one morning and raved about it so much that I had to try it! Great coffee, tons of choices... I had the veggie burrito! Yum! Great salsa! Hubs had the cinnamon roll! They also have breakfast and lunch. I saw paninis and soup on the board, need to try it out! Great local feel!

The quintessential cool coffee shop with the coffee to back it up. Amazing coffee, though the baristas can be a little lackluster!

I ordered the fried egg with chorizo and it was a sausage patty marinated in chorizo flavoring?? The egg had zero seasoning, not even salt and pepper. And the English muffin was hard. I wouldn't get this item ever again. Additionally the food was out and ready before I could even pay and tell the cashier thank you. Thanks for the jimmy John's speed, but I feel they could've used that time accordingly to season my food and maybe chop up the chorizo.

Redband delivering that espresso punch I love so much…read more On a free Saturday where I find myself up in the Quad Cities, my friend Cassey and I drop in for a quick cup of coffee before heading to a beerfest event. I needed something strong and I needed it an hour ago. Luckily Redband was on my radar and it was on the way to the event. If you've read any of my recent coffee posts, you know I love a good espresso with a solid punch to the mouth of bitter. So, I was delighted to see they had an americao on the menu. I ordered it iced like I usually do and Cassey got her usual breve. The barista disappeared to the back of the shop and started preparing our drinks. Walking in, you notice there is nowhere to sit and there is a sign on the wall that tells you that the waiting area has a maximum of 4 people and all items are 'to go'. A very unusual arrangement considering there seemed to be a full-sized building for Redband next door... but the entrance to the parking lots were blocked off. It almost felt like this building was the roasting facility and the one next door is the proper coffeehouse but I forgot to ask whats up with that. Any who, the lady came back with our coffee and we made our exit. I took a sip a few steps outside the door and I was floored by the bitterness. It was strong. Stronger than was I was used to and I loved it. The level of bitter made it a slow drink, which is fine since I can down almost any drink in a minute or two if I am not conscious of trying to pace myself. There is another location and that one is located in a really cool, unique building. I really want to try it but don't know how often I can pop into the Quad Cities just to try out coffeehouses but where there is an americano... there is my desire to go there.

All style, no substance…read more On a daytrip to the Quad Cities, I made a list of places for Emily and I to visit. After pouring over all the possibilities, we settled on getting 392 for our caffeinated needs. We pulled up to a bunch of sidewalk construction but were lucky to find our way inside. Once inside, we were greeted to a really loud, really vibrant coffeehouse. Nay, I wouldn't call this a coffeehouse. It felt more like a jungle gym. The place felt upscale, bougie, and a bit pretentious. We walked up and were greeted by some friendly, if not standoffish, baristas. Emily knew what she wanted beforehand but once she got there, she tried ordering a cold brew with some flavor shots to it. The barista seemed confused and told her she should just order a different item (a blended drink) if that's what she wants. Well, they finally worked it out and Emily got what she wanted. I got my usual iced americano with no troubles. The place was busy not with just kids but there was a business meeting going on. The place was very loud and reminded me of Zion Coffee Bar. Stark white walls with sounds bouncing around. Luckily, Emily and I were making plans to dip out and explore the city with our coffees in hand so we weren't subjected to the volume for too long. The wait time wasn't too long for our coffees with how busy the place was. We waited maybe 10 minutes for our drinks and were very happy to make our way on to the next destination. Maybe we are getting older and hate sound but it's not a place we could've sat and enjoyed a quiet conversation or relaxed to a nice book. As we left, we tried our drinks, and I knew instantly my drink was a bust. The americano was an off-light brown color when it should've been a deep brown. It tasted... off. Emily hates my americanos but she took a willing sip and said that my drink was messed up and couldn't place it either. It's like they used only one shot of espresso for the size; it was too diluted, too not-espresso-y tasting. Emily really enjoyed her cold brew, and we made plans to get coffee somewhere else later in the day to make up for it. I can't say I recommend this particular 392 location due to the weird vibe amongst the baristas and awful Americano/espresso. Maybe it was an off day or maybe that's just how it is. The change from your typical coffeehouse was a nice change of pace, though! I don't get up to the Quad Cities too often but would be willing to try one of their other locations after I make my way through all the other coffeehouses first.

Review Visit: April 10th, 2017…read more Aroma = Amora. Aroma backwards is Amora and Amora means 'love' in Spanish. I do love some good coffee, but do I love Aroma? Yes. Aroma was fantastic. When driving to it, it was a bit hard to find due to it being tucked in with a placed called The Green Thumbers, which is a pretty nifty gardening store in itself. So aside from being attached to a gardening store, it is a full-fledged cafe/coffeehouse on it's own. Upon entering, the staff was super nice and struck up a conversation and asked what I was doing today. Told them the boring part of my business reasons for being in the area, but also the fact that I like to try new coffee places while out and about. They offer a large variety of coffees, lattes, frappes, baked goods, sandwiches, salads and more. I ended up just getting a specialty drink called 'The Tuxedo', which was hot espresso and milk with white and dark Mocha added to it. It sounded pretty good and it did not disappoint at all. In their display of baked goods, they had a chocolate peanut butter cookie that was calling my name... or my sweet tooth was calling for it. Either way, I requested that along with my coffee. The barista even offered to warm it up. I tell you, this may be one of the best cookies I have ever had. I've had some of the best across Illinois, especially at Insomnia Cookies, and this place may rival them on the cookie level. The interior is very formal with out being too formal. It felt cozy but modern. Everything was gray/white/black with nice furniture and some wall decor. But the best part? The two stuffed bears in there. One was about 5 feet tall and there was a baby bear on the other side of the chair, holding a coffee cup. You can see them below. They aren't taxidermy bears mind you, but stuffed plush bears from the store it is attached to. This is the second coffeehouse I have been to with bears in it, the first being Thirty-Thirty Coffee Co. in Peoria, IL. Bears and Coffee go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly... maybe? No bear puns yet? That's un-bear-able! Overall, Aroma Coffee is Amora indeed! The coffee was great, the cookie was beyond amazing and getting your photo taken with the bear is an added bonus. Aside from it being a bit hidden so one could easily drive by, it is worth hunting for. The coffee/cookies that is. Not the adorable bears inside.

I made my usual list and she picked the places to go and this coffee house was one of our first stops. We nearly missed it as the parking lot can come up on your pretty fast due to the location but we made it without issue. Upon entering, we were greeted to a nice and pleasant coffeehouse filled with plants and cozy. We got in line and that's when I noticed the Specials menu was Harry Potter themed. I stuck with my usual americano but Emily got the Three Broomsticks. The baristas were super nice and since there were a few people ahead of us, we took the time before our drinks came out to browse the area. In the side area where we sat for awhile is a bookshelf and board game section. I always love to see a coffeehouse lean into board games and books. I believe the books were also 'leave one, take one' so if you need something to read, this place has plenty to pick from. There is also a counter in this area but I didn't really see the purpose for it as there were no menus or anything. Possibly for food but I wasn't for sure. Emily and I chilled in this area for a bit before switching back to the main area. On our way over, Emily grabbed a shirt to take home with her. While we sat there, Emily was in love with the vibes, aesthetics, and plants of the place. But, how were the drinks? Delicious. My americano made up for the last few I had that were weak by being borderline too bitter. I wasn't upset about that at all. I will say that the ice was super compact and filled to the top so the 24oz felt like maybe half that with how quickly it disappeared. I ended up taking the water they had out and topping it off a few times before we left. And how was the Three Broomsticks? Emily said it was incredible with a smile on her face. I took a small sip and I would have to agree. If I had her foam on my americano, it would've been a match in heaven. Coffee House Cafe and Goods was a wonderful stop. I really liked the Harry Potter-themed drinks, I really liked the vibes and friendliness of the place. I just wish getting into the parking lot didn't feel like pulling a move out of a Fast and the Furious movie.
