I stopped in for a quick caffeine boost with a friend while visiting from out of town, and absolutely loved Cody Road Coffee! I had a hard time choosing which drink to order as so much on their menu sounded good, but I eventually settled on a hazelnut cold brew, which was great. I'll definitely return to try more drinks when I'm in town as I loved the western vibes and decor of the shop. The only downside is there's limited seating inside - so it might not be the best spot to sit and catch up with a friend. read more

Well the initial impression of this locally owned coffee shop is exactly what a small coffee shop should be. Open, friendly, a good selection of coffee beverages both hot and cold. As well as the energy drinks that have invaded coffee shops now. Sorry I'm a hot coffee purest. Anyways. The shop has a Western style thyme and as the name implies is based on Buffalo Bill Cody, as LaClair, IA is his home town. The shop is very clean and has a limited sitting space in side. As well as street and a side patio sitting outside. This was a Five Star experience. The Coffee on the other hand was strange. I will start with the drip coffee. They have two drip coffees on tap. A dark roast and light roast. When my wife was served the light roast the first red flag should have been when the Barista offered to steam the milk to heat the coffee. As my wife likes her coffee on the cooler side and coffee shop coffee is supposed to be served hot, she didn't want it any hotter than it should have already should have been. Except it was just hot then lukewarm. Which also means it was well past needing to be dumped and being replaced. I always test a new coffee shop with having them make either a flat white or a Barista's Choice hot coffee with a few extra shots. This time I went with the Barista's Choice. Barista made me a large Pumpkin Cheesecake Latte with 3 extra shots. The drink was delicious for the first 1/3 of the drink. But, on the start of the next 2/3 something about the coffee changed. The flavor was gone, the coffee's complete profile change too. As a serious coffee drinker and enthusiast with the mantra of I make coffee addicts look like quitters. So, when I can't say something about a coffee it's rare! It's a shame because the little that I did enjoy was really good, but threw away 2/3's of a large drink away. We also got a blueberry muffin. Didn't get! It only had 2 blueberries in it. Even though it was large, it was sort of dry and crumbly. It was more of a sugar bread with a two blue dots. I loved this little place as soon as I walked in the door. Great decor, great ambiance. The barista was so nice! I got a lavender latte - keep in mind these drinks are HUGE so you definitely get what you pay for! Well worth it and better than a Starbucks, both in price and quality. I would have liked just a smidge more lavender, but that was my fault for not trying it until I walked out the door. Other than that, the drink was great. Cute little coffee shop on LeClaire's main street. This western-themed joint is small but mighty with their limited in-house seating and vastly unique menu. I went to this shop on opening week and was impressed with their service. With multiple baristas, they were able to filter through the long line of customers fairly quickly. I was also impressed by their creative drink menu featuring drinks for coffee and non-coffee drinkers. I ordered the cold brew with oatmilk (psa they have most milk/milk alternatives) and enjoyed the flavor of the basic coffee. My sister ordered the strawberry açaí refresher that was packed with flavor and a perfect drink for a hot Summer day! They also feature a "drink of the week" which is normally a fun, out-of-the-box drink. The pricing is on the higher side, but for the regular size of their drink cups, you get your money's worth. This shop also sells some pretty cute merchandise that I will definitely be back to purchase! Regarding seating, they have limited in-house seating, but two benches and two more chairs outside. This seating arrangement could be a way of encouraging customers to get their coffee to-go and continue stimulating the LeClaire economy by walking around to the other shops. Overall, my expectations of this new, cute coffee shop were exceeded because of their delicious products, customer service, and overall atmosphere. Check them out! read more

Stopped in to check out Cody Road Coffee in LeClaire. Very cute place inside and out. I tried a plain iced latte for $5 which was tastier than Starbucks but more expensive. My mom tried a hot latter that needed another shot to taste the espresso. Baked goods looked interesting, tried the super cute buffalo shaped sugar cookies, I think they may be from Cookies by Design. I'm going to update and apologize. While it's true that one staff member wasn't wearing a mask the first time I visited, I've been back twice since then on assurances by friends that they were doing a great job with covid safety. Both times (once in store and once curbside pick up), they were great, masked and appeared to be requiring people to wear masks in store. The coffee is great and the curbside delivery was prompt and convenient. Great place, will be back for sure. read more
