Average at best is how I can describe this brewery. Yes, they make their own beers but all of it tasted less than spectacular. I tried a flight to get a good sampler of what they offered. Meh... the atmosphere is ok given what they had to work with and the staff is ok. Not very chatty or welcoming. Given that there weren't many people in there, you'd think they would have been a bit more conversant about what they had on tap.

I went to Green Tree Brewery with my boyfriend on our travels through the Quad Cities. It's located right next door to Mississippi distillery. They usually have decent craft beer, but they were out of a lot of their popular craft beers when we went. I liked the cool green lights above the bar. It was disappointing that staff weren't that busy and still didn't help us that quickly or well, they seemed to be too wrapped up in their own affairs...chatting. Hopefully you can visit this place on a good day if so, you'll have a Great experience; if not, try a different time.

Have you ever wanted to get the hell out of Illinois and just enjoy a good beer? If so Green Tree Brewery is the place for you. They have the best craft brews this side of the Mississippi. Whether you're in the mood for a fancy pants IPA or a nice taste of fall in an Octoberfest, they have a beer for you. If you're in the taproom or on the lovely outdoor patio, the river view at GTB is breathtaking.

Beer was great, the bartender was very helpful, and they have a great location. We bought a crowler to take home!

I am typically not a beer drinker but we figured we stop in and see what Green Tree had to offer. It was 6 degrees outside and was surprised how many people ventured out into the cold to come here. They off multiple variety of beers brewed there from Ales, IPA and Stouts. They provided samples of any you cared to try. I highly enjoyed the Berry Barley! Shocking since I don't generally enjoy beer. It has blackberry, blue berry and black raspberry but the Beer is green! It smells like a blueberry muffin, taste like a soft raspberry yet oddly has a mild beer flavor. My friend started with a blonde ale and said it was smooth and delicious but he ended up switching to the Berry Barley. The hubs went with a PB & Java stout. He stated it was very good a full of peanut butter flavor. Yet he two switched to the Berry Barley. They don't offer food but they do have fresh made popcorn for your enjoyment. We ended up purchasing a 64oz Growler of the Berry Barely for $18.

This brewery is a great little spot with tons of room and incredible views of the river! They offer a wide selection of 15 beers, various IPAs, stouts, and ales. I tasted a few beers and ended up having a glass of the River Bottom Red. Everybody in our group enjoyed the different beers we tried and will be returning!

Green Tree has some super delicious beers! My favorite was the Berry Barely Blonde. The space has plenty of seating, both indoors and on a covered patio. And there's an awesome view of the river too!

Road trip pit stop! Very, very good. :D Try the Chocolate Cherry Coffee Stout!

Fantastic Micro Brewery! I was on a road trip to Des Moines, Iowa, and stopped in Le Claire to rest along the Mississippi River. I did not expect to find Green Tree Brewery, but I'm very glad I did. The tap room was spacious, with floor to ceiling windows for a great view of the Mississippi River. There was bar seating, tables and outdoor patio seating available. Now that we've talked about the amazing atmosphere...let's get to the beer. Green Tree deserves my five-star rating for making great beers. The more traditional beers, like their blonde, red, IPA and hefeweizen, were spot on. Where they excelled, however, were with some of their "experimental" flavor beers. Two I wanted to really commend on are the C3 Stout and PB&J(ava). C3 stands for "Chocolate Cherry Coffee" Stout. It did taste like a chocolate covered cherry, but not overwhelmingly sweet. Every sip was full of flavor. The PB&J(ava) did have a nice blend of peanut butter flavor. Once again, tasty but not overpowering in peanut butter flavor. I was so thrilled with the brewery, I bought a commemorative glass. I certainly wanted to remember the place. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

We were in town visiting family. We made a day of Cody Road. This was our last stop. There is no food as they do not have a kitchen. They do have free popcorn. Sodas in a can if you are not drinking. They have pints and also 4 oz glasses of their product. They also do flights. Above the river with a view of the river. Staff was to the point but not overly friendly. All self service. You order from the bar, you help yourself to the popcorn and you sort of bus your own table. Bathrooms were clean. A good stop after our stroll of the many shops on Cody Road along with the distillery and wine tasting room.

The dog days of summer can be so delicious…read more Driving and exploring all morning and afternoon lead us to needing some food and beer to refresh and recharge our batteries. Emily wanted to check out Five Cities based on their logo containing a dog and liking most of their beer offerings. We dropped in around 1pm to a mostly empty place as there was only one other table. The bartender was beyond friendly and helped us at every step of the way. We ordered our drinks at the bar and took them to a table where we could be alone. Emily started with the Bikini Bottom and I got the Here Kitty Kitty Kitty. Emily's drink came in a pineapple glass and was very strong on the pineapple flavor. Here Kitty Kitty Kitty was just about perfect for an IPA. We ordered a second drink with our food. I stuck with the Kitty and Emily switched to the Crush Tangerine. Next door is Central Standard Craft Burgers & Beer. As we were walking in, I jokingly said it would be funny if the food we order here came from next door. Sure enough, that is exactly what happens. Emily got The Standard Club with coleslaw, and I got the Fire & Smoke burger. I'd say within 10 minutes of our bartender taking our order (which we had to do at the bar), our food was in front of us in these neat little boxes. Once you crack the sticker, heaven is waiting for you inside. My burger came with lightly battered french fries. This style is my favorite, by far. Both Emily and I were in heaven eating our delicious food. From the first bite to the last fry was some of the best food I've had in months, maybe all year. Pair it with the beer and we didn't want to leave. I'd say I would like to try out Central Standard itself and see if the experience is the same there. All in all, we had a blast at Five Cities Brewing. I got a shirt and some (free at the time) stickers in their merch corner. Emily got a koozie and some stickers herself. The shirt I got was a medium and ended up running on the smaller/athletic side. If I can lose about 15 pounds, you'll get to see the fun shirt pop up in a future review as it has a funny saying on the back.

Heavy metal vibes and ice cold beers…read more Needing a break from the afternoon shenanigans, we walked over to Stompbox Brewing after checking out the Skybridge for a quick drink. We didn't exactly plan to visit it this early into the day but since it was right there, we figured it was the perfect time to check it out so we didn't have to backtrack. Upon walking in, I knew I was in my place. I am a big fan of hard rock and heavy metal and this place oozed with tributes and references to many metal bands and songs. But, it doesn't beat you over the head with it too much and has a restaurant/bar vibe going as well. Emily and I took a table and ordered some drinks while we took this place in. We didn't have late lunch plans but knew we wanted to keep exploring before eating and settling in for the day, so we stuck with just beer here. The food menu did look pretty good and the hot pretzel bites did sound like the perfect accompaniment to our beer but maybe next time. I grabbed the Hefe Metal and Emily got a flight of beers. Her choices were: Devils Made Me Brew It, Flood Insurance, When the Levee Breaks, and Peach Fuzz. I really enjoyed my Hefe Metal and grabbed a can of it to go. Emily really liked the When the Levee Breaks but, in general, liked all her beers but the Devils. When we first took a sip, it was really good but at the halfway point, the beer started to smell and taste like a dirty gym locker room. She let me have the honors of putting the rest of it down. While we were relaxing and having our beers, we saw they had stickers and some sweet shirt designs. The stickers were only $1, so we grabbed two of each. There was a shirt design we both really liked but only mine was in stock. Emily was okay with that since one of the stickers had the design on it, too. Shirts were $25 a piece. Since we were only here for a quick stop, I'll keep this short. The beer for the most part was delicious. The people working were super friendly and the vibe of the place was killer. Between here, Wake Brewing, and Raccoon Motel, I'm starting to think the Quad Cities has a pretty solid heave metal scene... which is pretty frickin' a in my book. I'd highly suggest Stompbox Brewing if you need a place to grab a beer and do some light headbanging.
