Do not use their services! Needed a helper 2 times a week…read morefor my Mom. The helper they assigned left early by about 20-30 minutes her first shift. The 2nd shift she left an hour and twenty minutes early. Both times she clocked out at the time she was scheduled to end her shift. Falsifying her time card and we were billed the whole shift. After I complained, we decided to start fresh with a new helper. Found out the night before the new helper had car issues and couldn't take the shift. They found a new helper for the next shift, but she didn't show up and we didn't receive any notification that she wasn't coming. Upon calling and speaking with Araceli, I was told the new helper was uncomfortable that a family member might stop by to see how things were going. The helper just wanted to work with my Mom alone. HUGE RED FLAG. I left a message that I wanted to speak with Susan or Irene and neither would return my call. Found out later that the first helper that falsified her time card is still employed by the agency. Beware, they do not communicate well and will clearly bill you for services you do not receive. I had to tell them to remove the charges. Extremely unprofessional and unethical business.

If I could give a rating which includes negative stars I would. My mom required overnight care as a…read moreresult of an unexpected medical condition. She was in great pain and needed a caregiver to stay awake at night to administer pain medication and help her as needed. On four separate occasions, we tried Senior Helpers services, and each time was a disappointment. On the first night, the caregiver gave my mother inaccurate meds. Later that night she refused to wake me (I was staying in the room next door to my mom) and my mother had to scream my name to get help in administering her pain medication. I believe she didn't want to get in trouble because she did not want to appear like she didn't know what she was doing. I woke up and basically had to oversee her caregiver in giving care to my mom, which defeated the point of paying for overnight care. (I needed to sleep at night in order to serve as my mom's primary caregiver during the day.) The next day, we called and complained and were assured we would get a better caregiver. The second night, the new caregiver fell asleep repeatedly, even though we had explicitly requested someone who could stay awake all night. She allowed my mom to fall on two separate occasions while trying to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. She even yelled at my mom to "Get up!" while my mom was lying was on the floor. My mom sustained several large bruises on her hip and shoulder and was understandably traumatized. Again, we called to complain and again we were reassured we would get a better caregiver the following day. We were desperate for care so we agreed to try a new person. The next day a new caregiver came who again fell asleep on the job. My mom woke up in the middle of the night disoriented and called out to her and heard no response. She was terrified to find herself alone in a dark room. My mom's daytime regular caregiver walked into my mom's room to take the dog out in the morning and my mom burst into tears. When questioned about my mom's reaction, the Senior Helper caregiver lied and told me she was awake and accused my mom's regular caregiver of waking my mom. She also rudely called my mom's regular daytime caregiver "your girl", which we both found racist and offensive, as she is a grown woman and is not owned by me (or anyone else for that matter.) After three horrible experiences, we called to complain and were again assured things would get better with a hospice trained caregiver. We were suspicious but out of desperation we decided to give Senior Helpers one more chance. We decided to interview her first. When we did, we explained she must stay awake the entire night. As we were speaking with her she began nodding off, as if she were on drugs. When we commented on this she stated, "It's OK." We told her, "No, it's not OK", thanked her for coming, and told her we did not want her services and sent her home. I don't know where Senior Helpers finds its caregivers, but of all the four nighttime caregivers Senior Helpers sent us, all endangered my mother's safety by sleeping on the job (one even slept with her hood covering her ears and eyes!). Even worse, my mom was emotionally traumatized by having to argue with caregivers to get pain medication or because they yelled at her for falling or waking up confused in the night. After this upsetting experience we immediately hired an in home care provider via MiFiji Homecare, and our amazing caregiver needed to spend two weeks in my mother's room to help her feel safe again overnight with a caregiver. My mother and I have no doubt that the caregivers we received from Senior Helpers seemed perfectly comfortable yelling at clients (whom we assume intern have dementia) and lying to family members about the care they provide. If you care about your parents, steer clear of this eldercare agency! The owner may want to say he doesn't know me. This is not true. My mother was Arna Munford. And unlike other clients, she did NOT have dementia or mental illness and was able to communicate the abusive and negligent behavior she experienced. I witnessed it too. This agency should be shut down. Do not out your loved ones in their care.

I highly recommend Napa Valley Care Center. They did such a great job with me that I would NOT have been ready to go home after my fall without them.

I was quite cautious about having my mother go to Napa Valley Care Center after she fell and broke…read moreher pelvis because one of the recent State surveys was not glowing. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. While I always think it is important to have family advocates visiting and interceding for their family members, I found the staff attentive in a myriad of ways. Even though, this is a large facility, all the nursing staff seemed aware of my mother's fears, issues and likes and dislikes and were quite helpful. They genuinely seemed to appreciate her sweet personality. The physical therapy and occupational therapy department worked well with her and got her up to speed quickly. The facility itself has been recently remodeled and is pleasant to the eye. The facility did not smell like a "nursing home". The nursing aids were friendly although pulling extra shifts, due to being short staffed. The social worker and the head of nursing were very approachable. I think the recreational/dining area could use some work, and the food was often on the cold side, but my mother always ate everything and seemed to like it. All and all, my mother healed quickly and was not traumatized by being away from home during the Christmas holidays for a solid month. My family will be forever grateful to Napa Valley Care Center.
