As a nurse myself--and with my mother also being a nurse--it takes a lot for me to fully trust that she is in good hands. But here, I truly have peace of mind. Karima, the Nurse Manager, is calm, patient, kind, and an excellent clinician. Her professionalism and compassion shine through in every interaction, and I know my mom's medical needs are overseen with the highest level of skill and empathy. Equally important are the caregivers who provide day-to-day support. Sonia, one of my mother's primary caregivers, is not only attentive and patient but also brings warmth and humor into the room. She treats my mom with the same dignity and kindness I would give her myself, and that means everything. Living in Hawaii and only visiting every 4-6 weeks, I rest easier knowing my mother is surrounded by staff who care for her like family. Caligraphy has given us the gift of peace of mind during one of life's hardest transitions, and for that, I am deeply grateful. -- Lisa

My friend who moved in here has a lovely room with a huge window with a view of the hills. He says the food is good. All the care staff are friendly and attentive, and the man who runs the place is terrific. His adult son also works here as head of maintenance. This is a long-time family run business, handed down from father to son through generations: very cozy with a down-home atmosphere. Furnishings are not fancy, but that doesn't matter. There's a couple of cute resident dogs who add to the homey atmosphere. There's a good vibe here and my friend (in his 80s with multiple chronic health issues) is well taken care of. I love visiting him there.

Both Sabrina and Jasmyne jumped through hoops to get the ball rolling and did everything they could to help us through the process. They were responsive, compassionate, and genuinely seemed invested in helping my family find the right care for my loved one. Unfortunately, circumstances outside of their control prevented the placement from moving forward, but that doesn't take away from the kindness, professionalism, and effort they showed us. When families are navigating difficult decisions involving a loved one's care, having people who communicate, listen, and actually try to help makes a tremendous difference. Thank you, Sabrina and Jasmyne, for the time, effort, and compassion you showed my family. It did not go unnoticed, and I truly appreciate everything you did to try to make the placement happen.

The manager at the time was a very friendly, helpful man whom I don't think is there anymore. The initial review does bring up legitimate concerns about housekeepers&dietary aides doing work outside their sphere of training. While I did witness that a few times, most of the time, they simply made sure my friend was clothed, fed, and had a clean environment. He was able to live as independently as he could, until his Alzheimer's was so debilitating he was moved to another facility in Arizona. Aegis is clean&appealing. They have a friendly, personable, attentive staff. While it has its shortcomings (all facilities do), the positives outweigh the negatives. The parking lot is kind of small, but one can park on side streets. Very pleasant.

My husband has had to call daily, begging and pleading them to please fill out the paperwork that they are REQUIRED to provide by the State of CA!!!! So please, think twice before boarding your oldster with these people unless you have no paperwork requirements at all, none, or you will be ignored like we are. VERY SAD AND FRUSTRATING. We have been campaigning for their State-mandated cooperation for MONTHS and we are about to file a lawsuit, at our own expense of course. So please avoid all the frustration and expense that we are experiencing and find a place run by people who give a damn about CUSTOMER SERVICE. It's literally like a fancy restaurant for every meal for the residents! That cannot be beat! The entire place is immaculate, with no dirt or bad smells anywhere that we can detect, and that's a huge plus. Just the idea of assisted living usually conjures up negative things but Sunrise Villa creates a whole different experience, a wonderful one. My folks have only been there for one month, having come from a beautiful hilltop home on sonoma Mountain, and they are both already saying they are happy there. There are tons of amazing activities scheduled all day long, and their amazing two bedroom apartment gives them a living room, a bedroom, and an extra bedroom for my father's computer and office. On top of all that, Grace, who helped us through every step, is the most kind, loving, understanding, and patient person to help your family through this difficult time. She is amazing! Thank you Grace! Sunrise Villa is not cheap however, and you'll need plenty of money in order to stay there, but it's definitely worth it, and they have created an assisted living facility that takes the sting out of the painful family process that leads to the need for it. I recommend it highly, if you can afford it.
