My mother was not clean probably so I put her in the shower myself and cleaned her backside which was literally caked on. I felt very uncomfortable in that place no good vibes SO MY SISTERS AND I GOT HER OUT OF THERE. We went to Mother Love in Santa Rosa which is a real home, in the neighborhood, and Mother Love and her daughter fell in love with my MOM, When I first met them I said okay sisters this is the place, The vibes were so good in there, Suddenly my mother was herself again, Shining with the Holy Spirit, she hated Sunrise she felt scared there. If God isn't there then what was , She lit up when she stary with Mother love, Always protect your loved ones from darkness and soulless people when they are at that age. She died in Peace with Gods light. Cost of Sunrise with a caviler attitude rip off dont leave your loved ones there. Eight thousand dollars a month, Theres a place in hell for this place. read more

This place is off the charts amazing! I only have one experience with this type of place and that was with London house in the 1980s when my grandfather was there and the only thing I remember was that the whole place smaller like urine! Disgusting! Sunrise Villa is NOTHING like that though! This is a fancy pants place! When you walk in you are blanketed by the amazing smells of the delicious food from the kitchen, and the dining room has chandeliers, cloth napkins, crystal glasses, and table service with huge menus for every meal! It's literally like a fancy restaurant for every meal for the residents! That cannot be beat! The entire place is immaculate, with no dirt or bad smells anywhere that we can detect, and that's a huge plus. Just the idea of assisted living usually conjures up negative things but Sunrise Villa creates a whole different experience, a wonderful one. My folks have only been there for one month, having come from a beautiful hilltop home on sonoma Mountain, and they are both already saying they are happy there. There are tons of amazing activities scheduled all day long, and their amazing two bedroom apartment gives them a living room, a bedroom,and an extra bedroom for my father's computer and office. On top of all that, Grace, who helped us through every step, is the most kind, loving, understanding, and patient person to help your family through this difficult time. She is amazing! Thank you Grace! Sunrise Villa is not cheap however, and you'll need plenty of money in order to stay there, but it's definitely worth it, and they have created an assisted living facility that takes the sting out of the painful family process that leads to the need for it. Vintage Sonoma, at 91 Napa Road, Sonoma CA 95476 is a residential care facility for the elderly (RCFE) that is top notch. Over the last year, I did a lot of research about elder care, benefits, rights, and the options for two elderly family members; one with Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease. I had heard of Vintage Sonoma and thought it looked niced on their website. I liked that it was only about 30 minutes from my town and other family members in Santa Rosa, but other places looked good, sounded nice and they were not so that didn't mean that much. Between me and others in the family, I would say we visited and talked to more than 25 RCFE's and nursing homes in the Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Sonoma County areas over the last year. My family member moved from home-care to an icky nursing home to an assisted living/memory care facility more than 1-1/2 hours away to Vintage Sonoma. When it came time to make our decision for a Sonoma County facility, we almost selected a different facility. I had doubts so I called Vintage Sonoma and met with their Executive Director David and Sales Director Lisa to learn more about Vintage Sonoma. It was exactly what I was looking for and what I thought my family member would like and feel most comfortable with and cared for. Vintage Sonoma has a beautiful exeterior; 4 landscaped back yards with patios to walk around; a warm and inviting entrance with a friendly concierge and smell of fresh baked cookies; lovely furnishings, decor and fresh flowers in their dining and living areas. (These "things" make those of us who don't have memory impairments feel better, but I don't think they matter to a person with Alzheimer's.) But, what I really loved could be seen. It was a feeling. A very positive energy that my brother and I felt as we heard Executive Director/Gerontologist David talk so passionately about life and his education and experience in caring for aging individuals with Alzheimer's Disease. He and his Sales Director Lisa were so honest and genuine. Neither of them ever made us feel pressured into choosing the facility or said things about other facilities to make Vintage Sonoma sound better. They didn't have to. What the facility had to offer, and the positive energy we both felt, spoke for itself. And, it was huge. I like that Vintage Sonoma thoroughly screens their prospective employees; they have a good caregiver-resident ratio; their Program Director or RN conducts thorough assessments of prospective residents, which includes having a conversation with the family about the family member, the ways in which the person communicates, things he/she likes/dislikes; hand signals or visual/verbal cues used; positive and negative events in the person's life, etc. This impressed me so much and was contrary to what I observed at other facilities where no one seemed to care too much about anyone as an individual or if they had individual needs. I just can't say enough about how good my family and I feel about our decision to choose Vintage Sonoma for our loved one. The monthly cost for any RCFE can be a shock to people when they realize they can no longer care for a family member at home and start looking at various care options. In my opinion, and based on much comparison, Vintage Sonoma (private-pay) rates are quite reasonable for the quality of care, spacious living environment and amenties included (one of which is tasty chef prepared meals 3 times per day). The town of Sonoma is a charming community and a beautiful scenic short ride from many Bay Area communities and Vintage Sonoma is well worth the drive. This facility is now called Sunrise Villa Sonoma. My mother has lived here 3 1/2 years. I have never had a negative experience. The facility is very clean and comfortable. The staff is wonderful. They take great care of my Mom. Most recently with the fire in Sonoma, they were very proactive and removed the residents from town. What an undertaking! All the residents are safe and comfortable now. I would recommend this assisted living community to your family. read more

We placed our father in this facility and it turned out to be a good find. He was there for more than a year, and I give it a thumbs up. There were always activities taking place, along with a movie room (with popcorn and snacks). On the top floor was a library with two desktop computers, so that was cool. The dining room was large and they would prepare ad-hocs also, such as grilled cheese even if it wasn't on the menu. The grounds also have grapevines, which is appropriate for the area. It is just down the way from the town plaza...you can walk there if you're used to walking. There is a gorgeous garden with roses and a pet area (yes, you can have pets). They also have a memory unit attached for residents with Alzheimer's. The only reason I don't give it a full five stars is because the road outside is busy with cars (both front and side) which makes it difficult for senior citizens to cross the streets. Also, the residents are not able to walk all the way around the facility, because part of it is gated off for the memory area. It would be nice for a full trail to be available, as some of the residents would like to walk each day but don't want to brave the traffic outside. I thought this place was great for my father. We had to move him in with his own furniture, but it was darn good. Like family. read more

My mom moved to Vintage Sonoma in August of 2011. We toured several assisted living facilities in Sonoma, as well as Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Vintage Sonoma had a family feeling that was unmatched to any other place we visited. The staff was bright, cheery, and welcoming. We asked several residents if they liked living there, and they said they enjoyed it very much. My mom found the perfect apartment that was bright, clean, and had a beautiful vineyard view. My mom always had wonderful things to say about the staff. They were always friendly, attentive, caring, and compassionate. They always welcomed me and my two young daughter's with open arms, and treated us really well. My mom enjoyed the food they served. Whenever she had a special request, the staff was sure to accommodate. The residents became fast friends with my mom and were always friendly and welcoming to all of us. The activities they offered were diverse. They often have celebrations such as Mardi Gras, Crab Feeds, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and many more festive events where families are encouraged and invited to attend. The excursions around town were some of the most memorable for my mom. My mom spent her final days at Vintage Sonoma. I can't express enough my gratefulness for the compassion and love they showed my mom during her final hours. They were so attentive to all of us, always asking us what we needed; food, drinks, ice cream for the kids. My mom would be the first to say that should you consider Vintage Sonoma for your next move, you will NOT be disappointed. My dad spent the last year of his life at Vintage, and it was a hard year. The staff at Vintage (now Sonoma Senior Living) was extremely supportive. I do not know what I would have done without the management and care giving team. The staff was professional, attentive, patient, and very communicative. My mom lived at Vintage Sonoma ( now bought by Sunrise and called Sunrise Villa Sonoma) for almost 2 years until her passing last week. The level of care, consideration, love and attention she was given by the staff of an assisted living facility was extraordinary. It was difficult for my mom to make the move initially, but soon she would start calling it "home". She had advanced Parkinson's Disease and need quite a bit of extra help and attention. The staff always knew her name and interacted with her like she was a close friend. Even if I showed up unannounced, it was always the same. My mom was incredibly well cared for. I am also so impressed with the Sunrise Organization. When the Devastating wildfires started in Sonoma in October, Sunrise was told there wasn't a mandatory evacuation for the facility at that time. However, a VP or high official in the organization told the staff although they don't HAVE to evacuate, they should for the safety of residents. The Sunrise organization had a brand new facility that had just been built in Pleasanton. Instead of opening up Pleasanton to the public, they held off for a bit and had the entire Sonoma community move their facility to Pleasanton to get away from the soot, smoke and ash. The organization got buses, the staff and their family members got cars, and they moved all the important stuff. The organization rented beds and furniture for the residents for their 2 week stay and tried to make the transition as smooth as possible. I am so impressed with this company that put the needs of people first before profit! I would highly recommend Sunrise Villa Sonoma. read more

It all started back in May 2011 when we called a family meeting to address Dad's early onset of Alzheimers. He had been Mom's primary caregiver for the last few years and we needed to discuss all the possible options that would allow them to stay in the comfort of their own home. We decided on Plan A where we hired a registered nurse to come in 6 hours a day, 5 days a week to assist in putting on compression stockings, grooming, countless doctor appointments, distributing medications, some light cooking, grocery shopping and a myriad of other tasks. My siblings, their spouses and I took turns on the weekends providing meals, double checking on their medications...basically filling in for Kathy, the nurse, any way we could. In a few short months and after a couple of fairly traumatic instances, it was becoming painfully clear that Dad's condition was escalating and our parents were in dire need of 24/7 care. We had looked into hiring professional help around the clock but it was both cost prohibitive and invasive of their treasured privacy. As a result, we embarked on the daunting task of searching for the "perfect" assisted living facility that would accommodate all their many special needs. Because I had the most availability, we made the difficult decision to uproot them from their long time home of San Jose to be closer to me in Petaluma. After visiting several facilities in the North Bay and not feeling inspired by any of them I drove into the Vintage Sonoma parking lot and immediately thought "Hmm. This could be good." As soon as I walked through the doors it felt like home. There were people leisurely chatting in the front area, others waiting for the Vintage bus to take them on a fun-filled excursion. There was this unmistakably friendly buzz in the air. Everything smelled clean and the décor was warm and welcoming. After the tour, I made a call to my sister from that same parking lot and said, "I think we may have found it, Kel." It's been 8 months since we have joined the Vintage family and we are both happy and relieved to say it was the best decision we could have made. What we have found to be the most impressive and comforting is the caregiving staff. It was paramount that we find caregivers who would tend to our parents' special medical needs and keep us involved in the process. Suffice it to say they have far surpassed our expectations as shown in their loving and astute care of Mom and Dad. They manage their medications, alert us to any changes in their health, accompany them to doctor appointments and are always available for hugs and a comforting word. All this is delivered with the utmost respect and sincerity. We are convinced they are a supreme staff of super hero status that give us all peace of mind. The other wonderful perks are icing on the cake but also so essential to their day to day living. The food is amazing especially when they go all out with their holiday banquets. There have been a few occasions where Mom wanted something special and all she had to do was ask and voila'...sweet potatoes. The daily activities list has a little something for everyone. Thanks to the addition of their talented activities coordinator and his hard working assistant, Vintage is a place of music filled happy hours and summer concerts where the residents can all interact. I know that this stimulation has particularly helped my dad and can say that his demeanor has markedly improved in the short time he has been here. At Vintage, we have the luxury of a first class concierge who coordinates everything from soup to nuts, a wonderful RN, the sweetest chauffer and I could go on and on. Of course, this fine operation is only enhanced by it's hands on director who obviously has a special place in his heart for his residents and demonstrates this on a regular basis. I am very pleased that my mom is at Vintage Sonoma for the following reasons: The management, administrative, and nursing staff have been very easy to work with. From the beginning, they have been professional yet down to earth. The dysfunction in our family requires understanding and diplomacy which I experienced with the administration. Colleen was very professional, non-judgmental, and understanding. I felt very good about Vintage Sonoma from the minute I entered to tour with my mom. I like the fact that it is a relatively small facility with approximately 92 residents, that it is out in the country yet easy to get to, and there is a dog park! The facility is very clean; not just surface clean but the corners are clean...consistently. Maintenance is obviously a big priority because the interior and grounds look like they are brand new. There was always transparency and honesty when I made inquiries. I am a registered nurse, and I have worked in these kinds of facilities so I have a point of reference. Vintage has a strong nursing staff that anticipates needs and also works with the family keeping them informed. I would say the best part is the communication between the staff regarding the family and resident's needs. If any entity has good communication, everything else usually falls into place. This really means a lot relative to making life easier for the loved ones caring for their loved one. My mom has been in one other facility which I never felt comfortable in. That was not the case at Vintage Sonoma. It is welcoming, airy, friendly, and very competitively priced. I feel very blessed that my mom lives there. A fellow RN friend that is a native of Sonoma, and still lives there, told me that she has always heard nothing but positive remarks from the community about Vintage. I think that means a lot if the community also feels positive about the facility. Sonoma is a small town. read more

I work at a local hospice agency that serves this community. Over the last several years there have been some positive improvements that our team has noticed. The residents are engaged in activities, the staff are welcoming, and there is a great management/leadership team that has been wonderful to work with.
