I've seen Cinderella, Little Shop of Horrors and most recently Peter Pan. What a great experience! They spend quite a lot of money on the staging and costumes. Always a very impressive performance. The sound system is excellent and the seating is graduated so the back row is still a great place to sit. Never had a bad seat in the house. The serve 'complimentary' wine and beer before the play and during intermission (please tip to be respectful!). They sell $1 concessions beforehand and during intermission as well. This is a great place to take your family or even go on a date. Main stage tickets are $22 for adults. If you don't mind heading to Lakeland for a show, it is well worth it. On a side note, most restaurants and bars close at 11pm. Check out Texas Cattle Company next door for drinks and/or food!

The houses were scary with some cool features (no spoilers!) and the actors were very interactive with really good timing. We got there and there was plenty of parking and a really cool looking 'house'. They checked us in quickly - and we had ordered the quick entry. I liked that they only let in a small group of people in at a time - 4-5 people max. They also spread out the groups so you'll never be in a long line or having people immediately behind you. Nobody is safe from their scares! The actors have their frights perfectly calculated, so whether you're in the front, middle, or back, you'll get some scares. The immersive swamp was just amazing. We are planning on going back every year now. Loved it (and loved that it was haunted Christmas theme in December!)

The Lake Wales Arts Center is located in a former historic mission style, Holy Spirit Catholic…read moreChurch. The church architect was Peter Cornelius Samwell of Winter Park and the landscape architect and decorator was A. E. de Leon. R. W. Burrows Construction Company built the Catholic Church in 1927. For the next sixty years the church congregation steadily grew until finally it reached capacity in 1988 and moved to a new church on 9th Street. Mrs. Frances Donnellon Updike, a parishioner and Ann W. Norton, an artist and educator, co-chaired a movement to raise the money to purchase the old church and transform it into the new home of the Lake Wales Arts Council which was founded in 1972 to promote arts in the region. Throughout the 1990's, the Arts Center expanded its programming by adding performances, exhibitions, summer camps, and community art education. By 2001, $1.4 million was raised for structural restoration and a new addition. The Michael Crews Education Wing and Gallery opened in 2001, named in honor of one of the Arts Council founders. In 2011 Polk County State College took over the building and renovated it. They held college classes and art events but they returned ownership back to the Lake Wales Arts Council in 2018. Today the Lake Wales Arts Center serves as a regional destination for visual and performing arts. They offer many free events throughout the year including concerts with partners like Bok towers in the Updike Concert Hall, in the grassy courtyard, and in the outdoor seating area. They also have art exhibitions, workshops, classes, festivals, and community events. Annual events include an international photo competition, black history month exhibit, and Hispanic heritage month exhibit. Art from seasoned and emerging artists is displayed in the Michael Crews Fine Arts Gallery. Art is rotated every 1-2 months. They offer the most publicly accessible pottery wheels in Polk County and they have the only publicly accessible stained glass studio in Central Florida. They are the home of the Lake Wales Chorale, a group of community voices that have toured internationally. On a recent trip to Lake Wales I was able to pop in for the free art exhibit Sacred currents Spirituality in African Art. I love how the Lake Wales Arts council was able to turn this historic church into a cultural resource for this community.

The circus came to town! We came we saw we watched we had an amazing time!…read more This circus was awesome like this was a real old school experience that was honestly just a super fun time which exceeded my expectations like I haven't been blown away by a circus on this level in many many years! First thing I have to say is their live band playing all the music for the show which was about 2hrs or so long was truly amazing as playing instruments for that long is definitely a workout and while hitting all those notes honestly that was true showmanship on soo many levels! The show itself was also really cool they had several different acts with alot of their cast doing multiple roles and jobs in the circus like a few of them we saw selling drinks and snacks then going changing and performing multiple times over you so know that is very hard to do shoutout to all of them for wearing soo many different hats! I'm not going to go into too much detail about the show but let's just say go see it because we all were left saying how good this circus was and that we totally enjoyed our time here! We bought our tickets from the show I feel it saved us a bit if you do that rather than getting them online so definitely plan accordingly because they do some deal where kids get in free with adults. Overall awesome show we are totally gonna catch them again next time they come around!
