233/100 in 2016 challenge…read more Great old time movie theatre. This movie house has been here since 1917. Truly 1917. Located in the downtown historic district of St. Cloud is this little gem. This is what movie theatres used to be like and should be again. They do it right and make going to the movies enjoyable. All movies before 5pm are $6.00 per person, after that it is $8.00 per person. You can actually go to the movies and not break the bank. IF you go here anyway. I took the kids to see SING and even had money leftover for popcorn and drinks. The threatre is a two movie location playing all the current movies. They even have a Ms. Pac - Man video game. I had to explain to the kids that this is what a theatre growing up was like for me, not what the norm is today of 20 different movies where you can sit down and order your gourmet dinner. The staff was great and very friendly, seemed eager to help. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Each of the movie theatres had ample rows. Two seat on the right and a row of 7 on the left. I believe there were 20 rows and then there was also a back step up few rows in the rear of the theatre. Good crowd that appeared wanting to see the movie as no ones phone rang and there was not one time anyone had to shush anyone.

Upon leaving, I requested to speak to the manager. Yet another pompous kid pretending to have any sense of managerial expertise. She "Lily" was rude and dismissive. The rest of the staff x3, 2 females and 1 male, surrounded the counter and rudely interjected multiple times attempting to intimidate me. I made it clear that I was speaking only to the manager and was told to calm down from the male. One female also claimed to be managment as well in an attempt to justify her rude interuptions. I questioned as to who the manager actually was. I then requested said managers name over and over. She refused and kept repeating" you wont let me answer". I requested the owners name, she, "Lily" refused over and over. I again began requesting her name she then spoke to one of the adults I was with, but clearly not involved in the conversation, again dismissing my concerns. Finally, I told her I will formally complain without her assistance. That is when she gave her name as Lily and began yelling "what's your name" to me. Another patron yelled out to the staff "Thanks for ruining our night. Merry Christmas." Indeed. We have only one theatre in St. Cloud. It is severely lacking but we try to support local businesses even though. It is disheartening to go to a business, spend money, and have an awful experience due to less than mediocre service. The entire staff should be removed and revamped. The four people that work there should be fired immediately as they are bringing the business down rapidly. Their behavior will one day entice the wrong person in a dangerous, negative, manner. They are an awful representation of Saint Cloud and our local businesses. They're nothing more than sheer embarrassment. If this is what the owner of Saint Cloud Twin supports he will surely lose his patrons and soon enough his business. If there was an option for negative stars that is what I would have given.

The announcer was great, the bulls and riders were thrilling, the barrel racers were fun to watch, the pickup men and clowns are always the cherry on top. What ruined it was the event coordination. Being from a place where the fair and rodeo is the big event of the year that draws in everyone from the local tri-state area Silver Spurs arena has a lot to learn. The parking was horrendous, thank God we didn't drive, there was no designated Uber or Lift pickup or drop off spots, there was no direction from staff or security in what direction to go, only screaming when you went the wrong way. I had to tell a security guard who was screaming at a crowd of 100+ people trying to leave that it wasn't helpful if you only yell "you're going the wrong way" and don't follow up with direction to where you want us to go. I see this this has been a reoccurring issue for years. I can't imagine what next weekend would be like. Hopefully they consider hiring a 3rd party to help plan a better settup in the future.

We were not told before hand that no purses larger than a clutch would be allowed, Unless clear. We had to go put our purses in the car. We were still early. The show room floor was nicely laid out, but the concessions were way over priced.

The signature event of the JAO is the annual Orlando Japan Festival held every November. This year was the 24th year of the festival. The Orlando Japan Festival is held in the spacious Lakefront Park in Kissimmee. I was pleased to see that there was plenty of free parking only a few blocks away. Nothing ruins my festival mood faster than circling an hour for overpriced parking. Another nice feature of this festival is that admission is free. The festival is large and spread throughout this beautiful park. Near the water we were able to catch some relief from the heat with a cooling breeze. There are over 50 vendors selling Japanese goods, food, and drinks, and entertainment that includes Taiko drumming, Koto (the Japanese harp), traditional dancing, exhibitions of martial arts such as Judo, Karate and Kobudo. This Japanese culture festival ranges from the traditional to modern pop culture. My favorite part of the event was people watching because many attendees arrived in elaborate costumes. We started off with boba drinks and shopping but it was very hot and the food was expensive and the lines were long. After enjoying a walk around the festival we headed out to somewhere where we could sit and enjoy air conditioning while we ate. My recommendation is to arrive early for least limes and so you can enjoy all of the entertainment.

Love attending the annual japanese fetsival down in lakefront park in kissimmee around November!…read more My experience every year is always interesting especially the array of food booths and market booths that they offer. My favorite booth is the japanese anime / souvenier booth that offers kimono's , anime items, hello kitty, japanese ceramic tableware just to name a few! I recall the few times I have attended I have bought TONS of hello kitty items for less than $10! Last year I bought all of the kimono's they had for $10 each! I use the kimono's as beach or pool coverups. I also scored a big Hello Kitty Toki Doki backpack for $10! My favorite food booths are the gyudon beef bowl booth and the onigiri. I think its reasonably priced and you get full from eating it throughout the day you spend at the festival. You will also noticed some guests dressed in anime costumes and some in their kimono's. I attended wearing a kimono one time but the weather was too warm to wear all day. They finally sold souvenier t shirts for $25 last year and I ended up buying one since the past years they haven't sold any from what I recall. The japanese festival is a great way to experience japanese culture and to try out the awesome food the food booths offer. They also showcase cultural music on stage and also kimono try on's. Just a tip - If you want nearby parking try to come in 1 hr early before the festival starts. Try to attend it this year if you can!
