The way that the paint sessions are lead are creative, fun, and encouraging. I was told during recital prep that volunteers had a system to make sure kids and parents would be identified and no one would get lost. That system turned out to be a hair band on the parents wrist. Really? No wristband with the child's name? What stopped someone from giving the band to someone else or someone using a band of their own to get a child they don't have parental rights? The inside of the younger kids room was pandemonium. Kids were getting hurt because the older kids were horsing around and not listening to the adults. I had no confidence that my 3 year old daughter would have been kept safe without me being in there.

At first I felt excited and nervous, just because it's a new experience for me.However, Nicole, Blake, Megan & even Ms. Ivann made me feel so welcome! I joined in on a culinary class based on sauces, stocks and soups and the guests did an amazing job. The concept of the volunteer is to guide the guests & just be a kind person in their culinary journey This venue is breathtaking, the kitchen is awesome and the knowledge you gain is so worth the experience. I will definitely be back to volunteer again! The guests made: mac and cheese, green bean casserole, kale soup & an awesome salad with the veggies sourced from their own garden Please take a class! The Kitchen House is a not-for-profit garden and cooking school that focuses on teaching healthy…read moreplant-forward recipes to adults and children. Ever since Publix Aprons Cooking School closed, I've been looking for a cooking school that has fun adult classes. The Kitchen House has just started a monthly "book club" called Plot to Plate where they feature a book that relates to or includes recipes. This month was Lessons in Chemistry so my friends and I decided to attend. We bought our tickets in advance as classes can sell out. The classes are different prices depending on what the class is. The house is in a residential neighborhood in College Park and does not have a dedicated parking lot so I would suggest getting there early as you have to find a spot along the street. When we arrived, we were greeted and given a welcome drink, in this case Cardamom Decaf Coffee because it was cold out. One of the instructors said that normally we would walk the garden at the beginning of class and also eat outdoors but since it was cold, we were going to skip the garden and eat inside. Once everyone arrived (cooking classes can have up to 20 people), we met in the lobby to start talking about different themes of the book. Then it was time to wash up and go to the kitchen. All the ingredients were set out for us and we picked the Veggie Pot Pie table with other attendees. The instructor gave us some knife skills lessons and then we all started cooking, using the recipes at our station. Each station makes one recipe so you don't get to make everything. And, the instructors and volunteers don't show you how to make everything first (like Publix Aprons used to do). But, if you just dig in and start going, it is a lot of fun. We had some questions along the way, like is there a spatula we can use? Or, is this the flour or the cornstarch? The volunteers were great and answered everything in a friendly way. As it said you could do in the welcome email we received before the class, some folks brought their own wine and the Kitchen House provided glasses and would pour for you. I think if we go back, we would definitely bring our own wine. My friends and I made the drop biscuits for the Veggie Pot Pie, which were surprisingly easy to make. We were finished early so we also make the Brownies for dessert that used olive oil and maple syrup instead of butter and sugar. When everyone was done cooking, we gathered in the lobby again while the volunteers cleaned and set up the table for dinner. Then, it was time to eat! Dinner was served buffet style and the Kitchen House split our food for people who had different dietary restrictions. For example, some of the recipes used non-dairy alternatives as some people in the class were lactose intolerant and one person had a mushroom allergy so they got a small spinach gallette instead of the mushroom Gallette for everyone else. As we sat down to eat, we discussed the book more in depth. Everything tasted great and we had a wonderful time. We received all the recipes in an email after the class so we could make the foods at home. I will definitely be looking at other adult classes here.

233/100 in 2016 challenge…read more Great old time movie theatre. This movie house has been here since 1917. Truly 1917. Located in the downtown historic district of St. Cloud is this little gem. This is what movie theatres used to be like and should be again. They do it right and make going to the movies enjoyable. All movies before 5pm are $6.00 per person, after that it is $8.00 per person. You can actually go to the movies and not break the bank. IF you go here anyway. I took the kids to see SING and even had money leftover for popcorn and drinks. The threatre is a two movie location playing all the current movies. They even have a Ms. Pac - Man video game. I had to explain to the kids that this is what a theatre growing up was like for me, not what the norm is today of 20 different movies where you can sit down and order your gourmet dinner. The staff was great and very friendly, seemed eager to help. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Each of the movie theatres had ample rows. Two seat on the right and a row of 7 on the left. I believe there were 20 rows and then there was also a back step up few rows in the rear of the theatre. Good crowd that appeared wanting to see the movie as no ones phone rang and there was not one time anyone had to shush anyone.

Once proven they were ours he walked away. Upon leaving, I requested to speak to the manager. Yet another pompous kid pretending to have any sense of managerial expertise. She "Lily" was rude and dismissive. The rest of the staff x3, 2 females and 1 male, surrounded the counter and rudely interjected multiple times attempting to intimidate me. I made it clear that I was speaking only to the manager and was told to calm down from the male. One female also claimed to be managment as well in an attempt to justify her rude interuptions. I questioned as to who the manager actually was. I then requested said managers name over and over. She refused and kept repeating" you wont let me answer". I requested the owners name, she, "Lily" refused over and over. I again began requesting her name she then spoke to one of the adults I was with, but clearly not involved in the conversation, again dismissing my concerns. Finally, I told her I will formally complain without her assistance. That is when she gave her name as Lily and began yelling "what's your name" to me. Another patron yelled out to the staff "Thanks for ruining our night. Merry Christmas." Indeed. We have only one theatre in St. Cloud. It is severely lacking but we try to support local businesses even though. It is disheartening to go to a business, spend money, and have an awful experience due to less than mediocre service. The entire staff should be removed and revamped. The four people that work there should be fired immediately as they are bringing the business down rapidly. Their behavior will one day entice the wrong person in a dangerous, negative, manner. They are an awful representation of Saint Cloud and our local businesses. They're nothing more than sheer embarrassment. If this is what the owner of Saint Cloud Twin supports he will surely lose his patrons and soon enough his business. If there was an option for negative stars that is what I would have given.
