I've got 99 problems but my hair ain't one of them!…read more Like most ladies, I am slightly obsessed with having good hair. Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. So Angel Hairdressing, I'm sharing the Yelpy love and making sure my 200th review is a good one :-)

I've now been to Angel Hairdressing two times, and both of those I was pleased as punch by the…read moreresults! For one, it's absurdly close to my flat, which makes visits and appointments a breeze. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!

I suggested the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh so we could visit the spa!! I phoned up few weeks before to book a massage & facial session then about 4 hours later, I received an email from the hotel concierge saying he could book things for us - including the spa with 10% off!!! Arghhhhhhh a discount!!! But the spa terms & conditions state I would lose money if I cancelled (so I could ask the concierge to rebook it with discount!) so we left it. The spa is lovely, reception is like a shrine to the guerlain products, there is a waiting room though quite small and they only had one toilet which seemed to be used by someone changing in there! We had got changed in our bedrock and put on the dressing gown n slippers that were in my room. First we had a foot spa, it was great, relaxing and lovely! Then we got taken to the treatment room where we had massage & facial. It was great!!! One of the best!! It is expensive but if you sign up to their mailing list, the hotel send out offers. I didn't book one of those but off the spa menu. We signed for it to the hotel then I told her the story bout the concierge offering me a discount after I'd already booked! The receptionist said 'why didn't you say!!' And reversed the charge and applied the discount! Awww so sweet!!! If you are in Edinburgh and wanting a beauty treatment or spa time - you are allowed to use the gym n pool too, I recommend spoiling yourself!!

I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and able to recommend the right treatment for the individual. Recently I treated myself to a massage after suffering a tension headache for a few days, and was a little sceptical about how good it was going to be before I went along, as the charge was only £22 for 30 minutes. (Cheap compared to well known salons in the city centre where 30 minutes would be around £40-50). Stupidly I thought that the more money you spend, the better the treatment. How wrong I was! The room the treatment was in was beautifully decorated and smelt divine, with lovely relaxing music being piped through. The massage table was comfortable with a thick, snuggly duvet covering it, which had been pre-warmed somehow before I got into it. Before the massage even started I was already feeling less tense! Then the massage itself melted the knots in my shoulders and neck away leaving me so relaxed. I will definitely be going back in a couple of weeks for a repeat treatment, even if my back is fine, as the half hour of absolute relaxation and time on my own away from the darling kiddies was so reviving. (Wow, that's the name of the salon! A perfect description in my opinion!) And to know that the cost of such relaxation is half of the price you'd pay in a main stream salon makes it even better. For all new customers Revive does 20% off your first treatment, so there's an incentive to try it out. And there is also a loyalty card scheme for massage/facial treatments. I hope to fill mine up to get a free treatment down the line at some point!
