I met the owner and was so impressed by everything about this place. I am currently only visiting the area but look forward to spending more time here when I relocate from up north. Love the aesthetic they've created behind such a busy road. I appreciated the open bay door AND outdoor pallets for people who want to practice under the sun and shade. The owner and the instructor were both really welcoming and put all of us 1st-time visitors at ease. The place is clean, and Danice (yogi) emphasized that all their materials are sanitized. They've got the floor taped off for spacing, and of course it smells calming and peaceful throughout. It's not a big studio, so I'm curious if spots fill up in most classes. I will be back! They have a website to reserve a spot and pay in advance. They may be on the more pricey side, but I honestly have no comparison.

But I did try Lisa Day's Candlelight Forrest Yoga Class at Innerstellar Pilates & Yoga Studio in Berkeley and LOVED IT! Lisa helped me find ways to makes the poses work for me and the level I am currently at. Everyone there modified - it was encouraging to see props, blocks and different variations. Plus, I never felt judged, stressed or like I was way over my head. I don't know how to describe it, the class was fun, easy to keep up with and totally kicked my butt, I was sweating and sore the next day, yet it never felt like work. I loved it so much I tried it again the following week. Her class grew from 13 people to 18 - I thought (ooo no) the secret is out, they know how awesome this instructor is.

Upon walking in, you can see how clean they keep the studio and there's a lot of storage space to put away your shoes and anything else before class starts and they also have a restroom available with dry shampoo and deodorant if needed. They also have a water station as well as some towels, including a cold towel to use post class since the classes are heated. The instructor was definitely helpful and made me sweat all my energy out while still explaining all the moves and give you modifications if needed. I'm looking forward to attending more classes in the future. Please keep in mind you have to bring your own mat, but they also have mats available for rent.

Some areas got more pressure than others and it was all just what each muscle group needed. I even went back the next day for a detailed session releasing my psoas. My hip range of motion is much better after only 40 min of focus on the psoas and hip area and my low back is feeling so much more free. Did I mention that I am a retired deep, therapeutic massage therapist who used to teach anatomy? Joi's massage was just what I've been needing.

On a whim (and a with very strained back), I found her number. She was able to get me in that day, which was fortunate for me but not necessarily the norm. I carry so much trauma in my body and really needed someone who understood this and how to help me release. Joi was able to do this, and provided such a safe and compassionate space for this release. Up until the holidays, I was seeing her once a month to continue the release. I need to get back to her soon (and will). I highly recommend booking a session with Joi. Her kind presence alone is naturally soothing, and you may find yourself on a helpful maintenance journey for your body and mind.
