My first two yoga sessions with Nathan were an incredible experience! He offers convenient private sessions on Saturday afternoons, which was perfect since we both have different routines. Nathan made us feel welcome and gave us a brief tour of his studio before starting the session. His calm and patient demeanor allowed me to fully absorb the experience. He began with deep breathing exercises, emphasizing their importance. Then, he led us through a series of yoga poses, each progressively more challenging. We had some pain in different parts of our bodies, but by the end of the session, it was gone! I'm looking forward to sleeping better tonight and feeling sharper mentally, as I was able to release the stresses of the day. Nathan specializes in sciatic nerve pain and also teaches techniques that can be done at home or at the office. I have been coming to the Yoga Channel since we moved to the area about 13 years ago. In that time, I have only had great experiences. I have had classes with several of the teachers, and I have never walked away from a class disappointed. Even when I took a class with a substitute teacher, I always had a positive experience. I have taken most of my classes with Maribeth and Nathan. Maribeth has a sweet, nurturing style - even when she is teaching a challenging pose. (You may not realize you've had quite a workout until you get home later!) Nathan has a way of seamlessly infusing his classes with yoga philosophy, which I appreciate greatly. Meditation and Pranayama (Breath work) are always woven into the classes, so you are not limited to only one limb of the yogic tradition. The overall atmosphere in the studio is warm and welcoming. I also am very grateful that there are Zoom classes available. This became my preferred way of taking class during the pandemic, and I still enjoy the Zoom classes because they are so convenient - especially when time is at a premium. read more

I just started going here as it is only 5 min from where I live. I was looking for two types of classes- relaxing stretch classes (I am 62) and more intermediate (but not fast) yoga. The classes I have taken from the owner Aurora Heinemann have perfectly fit the bill. They offer a multitude of class packages that will fit everyone's pocketbook and needs. Very nice and welcoming studio. The classes are held in an old house near the beach. The owner was so nice and showed me the studio and made sure I had a spot in the room. It was a full house for the class I attended. It seemed like everyone knew each other, but it didn't fell clique-ish at all. Regulars all said hello and were really friendly. The only problem I had is the carpet. I just prefer wood floor and although the studio was clean and tidy, I just can't do the carpet. Also, I was the youngest person there and I'm 52, so while the class was nice and relaxing, the class I took wasn't a challenge for me at all. I will go back though when I just want a nice stretch and breathing class in a welcoming little beach shack! read more

When a certain series of events occurred in November 2016, my desire for occasional me-time quickly turned into self-care being an absolute priority in this world gone mad. Survival mode! And not long after, my home-to-work geography changed, and this wonderful gem by the sea appeared to me. I am so lucky to have found professional, patient and loving teachers that have brought my practice to a new level, and this has allowed me to find peace, stability and happiness -- just when I thought that the world was going to be permanently gray and bleak. So grateful for the 5:30 classes which enable me to leave work in a timely manner, the wonderful weekend classes with my favorite yogis, and for the in-depth workshops. That, and the cozy, welcoming studio, steps away from a magical, shimmering stretch of the Pacific, has improved my mind, body, and spirit more than I ever could have hoped. read more

Sooo, TYC is probably hands down, the best place to renew your body, mind & spirit. Having just come through an incredibly intense few years, I decided to forge a new path in life. Aurora had a spring yoga challenge (12 classes in 30 days) that I've now finished. I've been attending TYC off and on for the better part of 10 years now, incorporating yoga into my boot camp workouts, however the last 2 years I've left the heavy boot camp work out and pretty much only do yoga along with paddle boarding, biking and walking. There are over 25 classes per week to choose from. From a slow flow, to an intense class or a relaxing Yin class. In conjunction with the vast amount of classes the TYC also offers many workshops per month. Just this week there was a workshop on how to reduce migraine head ache's by using yoga and a Yintensive 3 hour workshop which is always such a treat along with meditation. Whether you're a beginner or a hard core Iyengar practitioner you'll find a class that fits your style. Another great thing about TYC is all the teachers are very good about advising you to your level. If you're more advanced, just let the teacher know and they will give you a harder pose or show you what you can do for your practice. If you're a beginner and find yourself in a class you think may be a bit above your level be sure to let the teacher know and they will show you what you can do at your level. I've been to another studio where the teacher flat out told you or me in this case, "you should leave, this class it's your level". TYC is a must try if you're new or old :) to yoga. There are a lot of folks who are regulars and know each other, but new folks are always welcome. TYC also has a great little shop upstairs with a great selection of yoga wear. read more

What else can I say about this studio, other than it being my sacred, special place? I am currently enrolled in the 200-hr yoga teaching training program here, in which the tuition includes unlimited yoga classes for the duration of the training. What I love about this studio and what sets it apart from others is their emphasis not only on the physical yoga, but the meditative, spiritual aspect of yoga as well. As soon as you step foot into space, you feel at home...there's not a single aspect of this studio that makes it feel like "just a yoga studio". Being a member here is more than just a "membership", but a spiritual journey as well. The teachers have years of experience, and it is evident in their teaching styles. As well as their palpable passion for their practice, in which they're so willing to share with the community. The studio offers a variety of yoga styles such as flow, hatha, yin and are continuously offering workshops. I am looking forward to this month's yoga + thai massage class with Nathan! They also offer community classes for non-members as well quite frequently during the week. I'm so grateful that I found this studio! read more

I love this studio! I have been practicing here since the studio opened. I enjoy the variety of classes, retail center and workshops that are offered. The owner Maribeth is one of my favorite teachers. She kindly offers encouraging words that guide students through the postures. The studio offers classes for all levels and in a variety of styles. The prices are very reasonable where one may buy one class or a package. Upstairs there is a retail center where the selection includes clothing, props, jewelry ,artwork, gift certificates and other items. I've attended this yoga studio for 5 years and am currently in the Yoga Teacher training program with Maribeth. Before signing up, I researched training programs in all of California and found TYC program to be more diverse and thorough than any other. Now that we're coming to a conclusion of the 8 months training, I really feel like the education is thorough and has given me a solid base to share my practice and teach. Maribeth and all the guest teacher trainers are experts in their particular fields of yoga study. We all got the benefit of multi-faceted subjects and teachers. TYC also presents special areas of study and practice through the workshops to expand your knowledge and experience. The studio itself is a special place with a warm vibe (not to mention it feels like there's some sort of vortex right in the middle of the studio!). TYC is a welcoming and healing place for me.
