Dear LA Fitness Management,…read more I am writing to formally complain about my repeated experiences with Angelico Garcia and the way I have been treated at the gym. I have been an LA Fitness member for many years, and previously I had an account for myself and both of my sons. At one point, my wife wanted to have her own membership again, so we canceled our previous memberships and opened a new Family of Four membership. Angelico Garcia assisted us with opening the new account. At that time, he was very polite, professional, and pleasant to deal with. Unfortunately, my experience with him changed completely afterward. On one occasion, I had an issue with checking in. The check-in was going through, but the check-in mark was not appearing in my LA Fitness app. I asked Angelico for assistance and explained the issue. His response was, "I don't know." I then asked him to direct me to someone who could help me resolve the issue. Again, he responded that he did not know. I found this response very inappropriate because he works for LA Fitness, and I was simply asking him to direct me to the appropriate person or department. Instead of helping me, he pushed his chair back, turned away from me, and stopped engaging with me. When I told him that I felt his behavior was rude, he responded, "I'm rude, so I'm not going to talk to you." I found this behavior extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. There have also been repeated issues regarding the complimentary personal-training session. I have been asked to come to the gym on approximately four separate occasions for a trainer appointment, but each time there was an issue. On different occasions, I was told that the trainer did not show up or that the appointment was not properly scheduled. I repeatedly made the effort to come to the gym based on the information I was given, only to find that the appointment was not actually arranged. Today, I had another similar experience. When I arrived, I spoke with Angelico and told him I was going to put my bag in the locker room. He told me to go ahead and said that when I came back, he would arrange the trainer for me. I went to the locker room and returned approximately one minute later, but he was no longer there and I could not find him. After I finished my workout, I spoke with him again. I was then told that the trainer had not shown up and that he would call me to schedule another appointment. Based on my previous experiences, I have not received the promised follow-up calls or proper scheduling. At this point, I feel that I have been given the runaround multiple times and have been unnecessarily inconvenienced. I also feel that his attitude toward me has become increasingly hostile. I have noticed disrespectful behavior and looks, and he does not communicate with me in a professional or courteous manner. Because I previously told him that I felt his behavior was rude, I am concerned that his subsequent treatment of me may be retaliatory. I cannot say what his intentions are, but the repeated pattern of behavior has made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome at the gym. I have been a loyal LA Fitness member for many years, and I do not believe any member should be treated this way, regardless of any disagreement or interaction that may have occurred. I am requesting that management please review this situation, speak with the staff involved, and ensure that I am treated respectfully and professionally going forward. I would also appreciate it if management could properly arrange my complimentary personal-training session without requiring me to repeatedly come to the gym only to discover that the appointment was not scheduled or the trainer was unavailable. I am bringing this matter to management because I would like it resolved professionally and fairly. I hope LA Fitness will take this complaint seriously and address the repeated issues I have experienced. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from management. Sincerely, Ali Agha

spent a year and a half of my life dedicated to Anytime Fitness Schaumburg, working as the manager…read moreand often putting in 12+ hour days. Many times, I even worked off the clock because I genuinely cared about the club and its members. However, after my experience, I now understand why this location has such high manager turnover. Last month, my father had a mild heart attack at 3 a.m. Thankfully, he was able to signal me to call an ambulance. I spent the entire morning in the ER with him, during which my phone died. By the time I got home to process everything, I had a severe panic attack. I've experienced panic attacks before and can usually calm myself, but this one was overwhelming. Without sleep and still traumatized, I notified my area manager that I couldn't make it in that day. My father was in no condition to read or write any forms, and as the only family he has left--living with a cousin who is mute and deaf--I was the only person who could care for him. Despite all of this, when I returned to work the next day, I was handed two write-ups for missing that one day. It was shocking to see how little compassion was shown by a company that prides itself on being a "family." I've since spoken to other former managers who shared similar stories, even recounting how the owner has said, "We are all replaceable." This experience was a harsh reminder of the reality at this location: the dedication of employees isn't valued, and genuine care for our own families is dismissed in favor of rigid policies. I'm sharing this in the hope that it sheds light on the lack of humanity and support for the very people who keep this club running. For those considering joining this location, here are some tips: 1. Sign up online: The pricing is significantly cheaper. While in-person pricing starts at $33 biweekly, you can often find online rates as low as $22 biweekly with better promotions. 2. Beware of the contracts: These are designed to make it difficult to cancel and ensure the club continues to take your money. Staff are trained to do everything possible to keep members from canceling. 3. Wait for seasonal promotions: These are the best times to join. Enrollment fees are often waived during these promotions, which could save you a good amount. 4. Know their priorities: Managers and coaches at this location don't focus on building genuine relationships with members. Their primary goal is to upsell you on training or coaching, much of which is either improvised on the spot or copied from generic online templates. I hope this review helps prospective members make an informed decision and shines a light on the realities behind the scenes at this location.

My expectation was for her to just pass. She will be taking the CFA soon and is now positioned to be very competitive, being better than average in pull-ups, pushups, sit-ups and shuttle run. Working on basketball throw and mile run where she is below average but well above passing. My daughter is strong, toned, and more confident than ever. Her trainer Kurt has been outstanding. He understands our goals and developed a program to meet them. He is responsive to feedback, and assesses progress to adjust the program according to strengths and weaknesses. He is also a really good guy. Overall, SAA is a very positive, high energy, high motivation environment. Can't say enough about these guys. I will be back to update after the CFA.

If you go to SAA you will accomplish whatever goals you want to achieve regarding your fitness…read more This place has top notch trainers who are well versed in many training techniques and methods with an amazing community of members who motivate each other to achieve their goals. I started at Superior in 2012, the summer before my junior year of high school. I originally wanted to work on my strength and speed as I was working towards furthering my baseball career in high school and college. I saw results after training with Will and Boone for a few months and solidified myself on the varsity baseball roster with the extra power I gained in my arm and my bat. I ended up leading the team in multiple batting categories my junior and senior year and acquired multiple looks from DI and DIII baseball programs. After my senior year, I was accepted to the Coast Guard Academy and earned a spot on their baseball roster while concurrently serving in the military. The strength that I gained from SAA helped me during boot camp and got me through that with ease. Fast forward to 2018, I recently moved back to Chicago and got involved in Olympic Weightlifting. I had a sound basis of the technique that I learned all the way back in 2012 when I first trained at SAA, but I had not trained full time for a while. I wanted to find a program that I could get personal feedback from while having a tailored and individualized workout made for me. I was confident that the coaches could bring me to another level with my lifting abilities. So I decided to take a chance and see what I could learn with the coaches at SAA. I started training with Will and Kurt in August of 2018 and I have seen tremendous gains in my technique, strength, and volume that I can lift. My lifts have gone up various amounts, and I have learned so much about training methods, technique, recovery, and programming with the coaches here. I came in clean and jerking 127kg/279lb, and SAA has helped me get to a 140kg/308lb clean and 151kg/332lb jerk. My squats have increased by 10kg/22lb in the back squat and 15kg/33lb in the front squat. I feel stronger, and I can handle much more volume in training than when I came into SAA in August of 2018. My technique has improved immensely, and I consistently receive feedback on how to lift better. Overall, the community at SAA is hard to beat. Everyone knows each other and motivates one another to reach their goals. The atmosphere is a great place to train and learn in. Everyone is there to help, and the coaches put a lot of time and effort into writing each workout and explaining each part to you. I have felt that if I ever have a problem with any part of the lifts, I can come to any one of the coaches and ask them how to fix it. I am looking forward to the future with SAA, and I am proud to be part of this community.
