    Diving area, 12'+ deep.

We have been taking our kids here for 10 years for swim lessons. Great facility and friendly staff/swim instructors. The place has a baby pool, kids pool, Olympic size lap pool, and a diving pool. The water always is clean, but in the heart of winter it can run cold. Staff are usually high school/college kids, but are well versed in swim instruction. All have been engaging with the kids and seem to be assigned well to certain aged groups. Another perk if you are an Arlington Heights resident, is that when you by the pool pass, you get access to 7+ community outdoor pools and the Arlington Ridge pools. So, you can be covered in the summer at an nice outdoor pool, you can also have indoor swim options in the winter. In addition to the pool, there is a work out facility. My wife and I used this years back and it was a pretty busy place. Can't speak to recent experience here, but it had many machine and weight options. Lastly, there is a large multi-basketball indoor court. Used for basketball and other sports - volleyball for example. On the upper deck, there is a track you can walk/run around the courts. Seems very busy with lots of pickup games. Great community center, check it out.

    The ARC

The "ARC" is the name of the newly renovated (as of Jan 2020) Olympic Park. The main building was expanded from an aquatic center to include a beautiful 4-court gym and a fitness center. I've been a member of the fitness center for a couple of weeks. Here are my ratings (on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best. Traffic - 5 (afternoons) Gym - 5; Locker rooms - 4.5; Staff - 4.5 (friendly and helpful) Fitness center: Free weights - 3.5; Treadmills - 3.5; Circuit training machines - 2; Elliptical - 2 Overall the place is new and clean. But the machines, especially the elliptical and the weight machines are not high quality like you might expect from a health club.

I am a 78 year old woman. I have always been physically active, but after a diagnosis of ""severe"…read moreosteoporosis, I decided to seek out a personal trainer who could give me a more systematic exercise program. My goal is to see if resistance and weight training will improve bone density going forward. Eric lives nearby and seemed like the perfect solution. He's knowledgeable, accommodating, and easy to talk to. We've only been at this for six weeks, but I'm very happy with the program so far.

For the first 40 years of my life, I thought exercise wasn't for me. I didn't know the first thing…read moreabout it and I had the body to prove it. I was delighted to find a local trainer here in Arlington Heights who was not only willing but eager to help me learn how to make fitness a regular part of my life. I've loved working with Eric for the past year. He focuses on functional fitness and helps me train across different exercises and disciplines. This includes traditional weight training, but also kettlebell, cardio, combined strength exercises, and even yoga. Eric has even helped me get my diet under control, reviewing my eating habits and helping me find healthier alternatives. I am in better shape than ever before, but thanks to Eric I've made fitness a regular part of my life. I went from someone who could be winded by two flights of stairs to running my first-ever half-marathon, something that would have seemed crazy to the old me. Throughout it all, Eric has been a kind and patient guide. I'm grateful to have found him.
