Sara created a brunch menu with us and catered it to our budget initially. We did a tasting about 6 months later and found it delicious. She was very responsive in planning and being flexible as our tasting. However, there were many hiccups for our actual wedding day which is the purpose of hiring the catering company. Donut tower - I sent photos of other donuts towers I had found online, she thought it was a cute idea, but the donuts at our wedding ended up being just stacked on a plate and on a board that I remember them using at a previous event. While the board was creative, the plate was not the donut tower with coffee and tea we were hoping for in lieu of doing a cupcake tower in the morning. I did see at a later wedding that fall she provided them a donut tower. Coffee for preceremony in the woods--There was not enough coffee for the guests which was poor planning and unprofessional. If that was the plan because no one from the catering staff (at least 4 servers or 2 bartenders) could run another coffee urn to the forest or have enough there to begin with then it undoubtedly should have been communicated to the bride and groom before the wedding. We told our guests to expect it upon their arrival as that is what we were paying for and planned with Sara. Brunch food: A buffet or station brunch usually starts with breakfast items first and working your way down to the lunch items for a natural order. The owner of the company even suggested using the Indian food later in the day rather than being placed out all at once for different food station around the barn like our idea was. It surprised me when the coordinator told us to start with the Indian food first. For many guests, it was impossible to fit any more on your plate by the time you got to the other breakfast and sandwich stations not knowing what exactly was up there. It also would have been good for the coordinator of their company or servers to go around and let everyone know the food truck was serving omelets in front of the barn even if I went up to the DJ so he announced it. It may have been the farm's first brunch, but it's certainly not the first brunch wedding in existence. Afterparty (food truck): We don't believe Sara estimated the number of our friends and family staying overnight at the hotel and who were coming back to enjoy the venue since we had it the entire weekend until Monday morning. It can be difficult to estimate, but we knew who were staying based on feedback and hotel reservations. And in event planning, it's always better to plan for a little more than less. The Yard did run out of supplies and had to leave to purchase more then return so there was a delay in some getting fed. We did not receive an invoice for the tacos until we followed up in late December which would have been beneficial in figuring out how the count came out much higher than anticipated - double the cost we agreed upon. We had email and verbal confirmation from Sara that the taco prices would be $3 a taco. When I asked her again to confirm the price she said, "I wouldn't switch prices on you." Instead, it went from $3 maybe $4 to $8 for a taco. There was also no option for any vegetarians though we had a handful present for the wedding and later that evening. When I followed up with Sara for an itemized invoice, she said she would need to look around for one. With back-and-forth correspondence she advised of the total which I explained didn't make sense to a few of us who were trying to figure out the math. She then advised it was actually $8 a taco but was not sure if it was 50 or 100 tacos. She then explained she ran out of small tortillas and had to use large ones so some were $4 while others were $8. I've asked guests since and no one can remember a change in size of tacos from when the truck first opened to the end of the night. Further, it is not the clients error if the catering company does not provide enough supplies for the agreed upon size of the food. It honestly seemed like she was trying to cover her tracks and back into a number. While the error in calculation and price is important, it is the lack of owning up their error that is truly disheartening. Overall, I am not sure if we were taken advantage of because we live a few hours away so they figured we would not provide recommendations. We have family in both Pittsburgh and Ohio of various ages that we would have made recommendations to or they would have spoke highly of the experience with the coordination and catering to. Sara may have assumed we would not follow up, but my communication with her since early 2017, my attention to detail in emails and over the phone, and my call to her day of coordinator a few days after the wedding should have avoided that. Sara was my absolute FAVORITE wedding vendor to work with. Not only does she operate an awesome food truck, she does wedding planning and flowers too! Now for the food review. I had been to this food truck before my wedding and enjoyed their Korean BBQ tacos, pulled pork sandwich, amazing white Mac and cheese, spicy crab cake sandwich and Asian lettuce wraps (yum!) I liked this food truck because the people were always pleasant, it's great food at a great price, and they change their menu often so you can always try something new. So that's why I chose them to cater my wedding. I definitely wanted my wedding food to be different, fun, and still in my budget. As soon as I presented this to Sara she came back with unique ideas like tomato soup shooters with mini grilled cheese, stuffed mushroom caps, and even a late night slider and fries menu out of the truck for after the wedding! All cute ideas but I had a budget to stick to. We went with a queso bar, meat and cheese display and stuffed mushroom caps for appetizers (see photos). My guests raved about the apps so much that I never even saw them! Everyone went to the appetizer bar and left with a full plate of goodies! For the main course I decided to do a BBQ buffet. We chose BBQ chicken, brisket in a whiskey and brown sugar sauce, white mac and cheese, Mexican street corn, cornbread muffins and side salad. I've had a million compliments about the Mac and cheese and I was sad there was none left over! I was hesitant about the street corn but it was a nice creamy mix topped with feta, with a hint of jalapeño. My guests awed at the presentation, and came back for seconds once they got a taste. Sara took care of all of the day of details: set up, clean up, display of food, plates, serving ware etc. she was available with any concern I had. I used The Yard A Mobile Eatery for my wedding catering and wedding cakes. The food and cakes both turned out delicious! Sara and her team sat down with my husband and I to create a custom wedding menu on a budget. We decided to have braised Italian beef sandwiches, herb rubbed seared chicken with a lemon basal cream sauce, and smoked gouda penne with vegetables. Everything turned out AMAZING. Our guests couldn't stop talking about the smoked gouda penne pasta! The Yard A Mobile Eatery uses a food truck to cook their food, which all of our guests found to be a fun and an interesting twist on the normal wedding catering. Sara also made our two wedding cakes. We had a 8 inch chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and a 2 tier lemon blueberry cake with almond cream and cream cheese icing. Sara arranged the cakes with fresh flowers and fruits. I had them cater our rehearsal dinner at the bed and breakfast on the deck the night before as well. From the first initial email and phone meeting to the narrowing down ideas which matched my budget, I knew I had the right girl for the job! Everything went honestly better than expected. My mother's passing was quick and unexpected. I was completely overwhelmed with grief and planning.
