Really really good place to stop and try I was very impressed with the burgers and pizza and those carnitas cheese fries could be a meal by themselves you must stop and try.

Unfortunately, both visits were disappointing. My first visit, I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar salad. The salad was bland and lacked seasoning, and the chicken had a rubbery texture that tasted like it had been cooked earlier and simply reheated. Hoping it was just an off day, we came back. This time I ordered the Spring Roasted Chicken with risotto. For a nearly $30 entrée, I expected much better. The dish looked nothing like the photos advertised online. The risotto resembled a bowl of watery oatmeal more than a properly prepared creamy risotto, and the rice was still undercooked. The chicken once again had that same rubbery, reheated texture, making it hard to believe it had been freshly prepared. My daughter ordered the chicken strips, and they were so over-fried that the breading was painfully hard to chew. She literally had to peel most of the breading off just to eat them because it was hurting her teeth. To be fair, my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak both visits, and he said it was excellent. It looked great as well, so there are clearly some dishes they do well. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a local business. We genuinely wanted this restaurant to become one of our regular spots. But after two visits, the quality simply didn't match the prices or the expectations of an upscale restaurant. I hope they're able to improve because we'd much rather support local than drive into San Antonio.

26 Jul 2023 We had…read moremade a reservation for 4pm, because it sounded like you needed a reservation. We got there at 3:50pm, walked in and no one was at the host station. There was a sign to seat yourselves. OK. We sat down and the bartender brought us menus. Us and a group of three were the only customers. Brought us waters. While looking at the menu, a server comes over and asks if we wanted appetizers or go straight to order. Straight to order, please. The husband ordered the brisket pot roast. It came with asparagus and what he thinks was puréed squash. I had the pecan chicken. Panko breaded with pecans and a bourbon sauce. Maple and bourbon were the flavor elements. Came with baked Mac and cheese and sliced slightly charred carrots. This was really good, as was the husbands plate. Warm Sourdough bread and butter is served with the meal. We split a Caesar salad. The salad was OK, the dressing was a little tart and served on the side. I'm taking a slice of chocolate cake to go. As I peek into the bag, it is a generous slice with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Stay tuned. The restaurant is part of the Hillside Resort. Looks like a bunch of rooms. When we were about to leave a group of women came in and sat at the bar. I told the bartender we'd heard about them through Texas Eats. He said 'are they still showing that? That was about six chefs ago!' All righty then. I'd say it's worth a trip to try.

Reservations were made ahead of time for 4 and upon arrival we were were seated right next to the large open windows. Ordered the Berry Patch cocktail- nice and refreshing with a splash of mint leaves. Menu wasn't overwhelming and had a nice assortment of dishes. Starters ordered - pork belly bites and fried Brussels sprouts. Both highly recommend! Dishes ordered- salmon, pork chop, pot roast, and steak. Pork chop and steak were not dry, but juicy with lots of flavor. I loved pot roast growing up , so I had to order it here. Although tasty, texture was a little chewy and tough. Also would have enjoyed a little more helping of vegetable/potato purée underneath the roast. The salmon dish looked fabulous, but was slightly salty. The sweet bun that accompanied each dish were delicious! Service was good. I'd come back to try the pork chop next time around.

Started with the spinach artichoke dip - creamy, cheesy, and lots of artichokes, spinach, and mushrooms! The chips served with it were fresh, crisp, and had the perfect amount of salt! My husband and I shared our two entrees - the chicken fried pork chop and the pork chop marsala. Both were excellent! The pork was tender and juicy with each dish. And the Marsala sauce was one of the best I've tried! We wish we could have tried more items...but it would be well worth the drive to come back for another visit!

Not very many patrons there. I know it gets crowded. The inside is very small, yet they managed to not make it feel cramped. Very intimate, and I loved the decor. Our waitress, again forgot to get her name, was attentive, and provided great service throughout our meal. I can see this place being a GREAT date spot! Let's get to the grub! We started off with appetizers. We had the fried steak calamari and boudin sausage. Let me get the one negative out of the way on the calamari. The portion for the price. It was a bit high. Also, it's not just calamari, it was fried veggies and jalapeños in the mix too. Although it was amazingly delicious, it needed more actual calamari. Also, menu stated it came with aioli. It came with a spicy paste type sauce. We weren't complaining as it paired nice, and think it was a happy mistake. The boudin, which outside of Baton Rouge, I'm not a huge fan of, was spot on! Perfect balance of spice and ingredients! The one thing I will suggest is perhaps not serving it with rice, since there is already rice in the boudin. Maybe a nice sauce or a roux? Either way it was good! The offspring, I love they are adventurous, had the blackened fish, and seafood jambalaya. Let's start with that blackened fish. Not over-salted!!!! Wow was that a relief! The sauce paired perfectly with the fish! The sautéed spinach was ok. Lacked more seasoning. The jambalaya was also pretty good! They didn't skimp on any of the ingredients. Very much appreciated! Nothing was overcooked, and it was seasoned to perfection! All the meals came with a roll, which I think was yeast. The problem with those is when they get stale, they almost taste a bit like beer. They tasted like beer. I had the Mardi Gras pasta. I was scared it would be too rich or oily. It was neither. Again a very well balanced dish! It's not cheap, but not outrageously priced. With the exception of the calamari, the portions and quality of the meal were worth the price. Whoever is in the back cares about the food. I could've been in Louisiana how good it was. The menu isn't just Cajun. They have a great variety. We did order desert. Just cheesecake, but I can almost bet they didn't make it in house. They did get creative with the plating though! Also kudos for having stevia at table! Highly recommend and def coming back on a date night!
