As this place is local and close to me, I wish I could give it a better view. The drinks are generally fine and the food is pretty good. The thing that is really horrible. Here is the service. The bartenders are pompous and there is no really any type of customer service or staff to assist the customers. We thought we'd try it again tonight just to see after years and years of being disappointed and alas, was disappointed once again. I walked in. It's modestly busy on a Thursday night. Looks like they rolled out their fall menu which include what I ordered: Pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw ON the sandwich (only way to eat a pulled pork sammy) and I got the black widow, which includes lemon juice + whiskey + blackberry . Have been coming to the place for years and have loved it up until now. This rating is not at all a reflection of the service I received. Especially from Spencer. He is always excellent. However the "bar manager," Stacy, was catering to a single couple in the bar as opposed to multiple people when it came to the music selection that we paid for on the TouchTunes app. When we addressed our concerns, Stacy came over and condescendingly dropped off $5 for skipping multiple songs and walked away. The servers and bartenders are very friendly and the food is delicious, especially the fried appetizers with house-made Ranch. My friends and I keep coming back for the free live trivia on Tuesday nights. I definitely recommend arriving early for trivia to ensure getting a table. Everything from the staff, the drinks, the music was great. The music was a mix. Sometimes good country, sometimes 90s and sometimes current hits. They have a large bar. Plenty of options. Drink prices aren't too steep. They can make you well drinks or cocktails. They also have beer in bottles and on top. For those that like seltzers, they have a few available. My friend and I have been here twice and it was an amazing experience both times! We always get the skillet que so and we love trying their different drinks. The manager Steven is just the nicest and the atmosphere is so fun. This place is best for you and just a few friends; def not a big group type of thing. The bathrooms are always clean and back patio area is cute too with connect 4 and prob some other games. We walked in got our temps taken by a very nice lady, we took a seat and the waitress came right over. She told us the drink specials for the day and we ordered our drinks. She came right back with my wife's Peach Long Island which was delicious! And my Old Fashioned, which was one of the best I've ever had! But it was very short.... we ordered our food which took about 15 minutes. I got the breakfast burger and once I put it together it was a monster sandwich! But it was great, meat cooked perfectly lots of bacon and fresh veggies! My wife got the steak fingers and fries and she really liked them, and the fries are so good! We also got an order of the fried pickles, they were hot, fresh and crispy! The staff here is great very friendly and helpful! They also sanitized tables after people left which is nice! It's better than average but still typical in most ways except one. Pros: The #1 reason to go here is... SERVICE: Staff is On point and attentive. It's Better here than most other places. I had to squeeze in at the bar and yell my drink order to the bartender, twice. Pricey: 6 drinks + avg tip = $80. The 2 of us got 3 beers (on tap) and 3 Redbird Paradise. If we go back, it'll be because someone else wants to meet there and only if it's not at a crazy busy time. Crowds, while good for business, are overrated. My wife said it best, "It's good for a bar. This place had good solid food with good flavor and good sized portions and it's really tasty food to be honest. The burger had really good flavor and was cooked medium to my liking. The fries were great and the drinks were on point. The service was a bit slow but probably caught them on a busier day or maybe someone called in because our friends who were with us said, this is the slowest service they had ever received. Just moved into San Antonio and this was the first spot we checked out. Met up with a few of the new neighbors and ill be honest we are hooked! Great vibe, awesome whiskey selection (its a whiskey bar) great selection of other spirits and beer as well. Friendly staff, cool atmosphere. Pretty good sized inside area with lots of TVs, good sound system and decor. Big outdoor patio with TVs and games. Second time here! The people in my neighborhood (situated just down the street from this place) rave about this place all the time. Regulars, I'm guessing. However, while our first visit was more of a 4-star rating, this is my experience the second time around... THE LOCATION: set in a small strip mall-type setting. THE AMBIENCE: Low lights, small bar with table seating. The evening we went it was quite busy and there were no available tables so we were stuck at that bar. We came to support this small business, to spend our money where we figured it would be much more appreciated, than heading to the Olive Garden or other large chain eatery that we normally enjoy. There is a DJ setting up to play music or karaoke or something. THE SERVICE: With my husband and his service dog in tow, it drew attention (as it usually does) and the male worker who worked the front area approached us to ask if we were going to sit outside in the "patio" which I believe is located in the back of the bar, he is staring at the dog and obviously hinting that this is the only area we will be welcomed. We said "no" that we were waiting for a table to open up inside. He tells us that dogs aren't allowed inside, we point out that Max is a service animal. He leaves us to speak to his manager, which we welcome and we take a seat at the bar and proceed to order. We know the law, even if he doesn't. Frustrating as this is our second visit at this establishment. He comes back to tell us that "it's fine that the dog is here, as long as he doesn't run around the place". I couldn't help but laugh. Comedy! I cannot tell you how insulting it is when businesses don't learn up on ADA laws. It's part of the privilege of running a business to take the money of the general public. Disappointing. Service is slow at the counter, but it is busy and the workers aren't just standing around, so it's no big deal. THE FOOD: we ordered food, burger and chicken sandwich with fries. They are ok, the coolest thing about them is their initials "TRN" are branded into the top of the bun. Hubby drank an Arnold Palmer and I had a Shirley Temple. WORD TO MANAGEMENT: Please educate yourselves on ADA laws so your disabled patrons with service animals aren't inconvenienced or feeling harassed by illegal requests your workers might make. It wasn't bad this time around, but then we are patient people for the most part. My husband suffers from PTSD, of which stressful situations can trigger and is the result of his service in the US Army and his tour in Iraq. The dog helps a lot but isn't a miracle worker. All I'm asking is for your establishment to please do your part. The next guy may not be so easy and may become a very tough lesson to learn. And remember, knowledge is power. We are mostly beer and wine drinkers and he answered mixed drink questions and seemed genuinely happy to do so.
