Such a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Especially regarding whiskey. Sooooo many to choose from- think they have 1500 bottles. Great selection. Food is always good and nicely proportioned. There is a patio outback with a few table top games and does allow for cigar smoking. read more

The Rusty Nail is giving "local hangout you wish you found sooner." It's laid-back, unpretentious, and exactly where you go when you just want to relax, have a drink, and mind your business (or not, depending on the night ). The vibe is chill, the crowd is friendly, and it feels like one of those spots where everybody either knows each other--or will by the end of the night. If you're looking for flashy, this isn't it. But if you want good energy, solid drinks, and a place to unwind? You're in the right place. read more

First time there and we walked in no one greeted us, we looked lost and the bartenders just looked at us. We sit down and the female bartender looked annoyed the entire time, especially when we asked for happy hour drink menu. The male bartender was nice more outgoing recommending some food and drinks. The brisket grilled cheese was NOT good, had no cheese in it and the meat was very dry. The jalapeño jam made it eatable. Fries were basic and not seasoned. Also had the fish tacos which were better than the sandwich but nothing to brag about the fish portions in the tacos were very small, but the pico and sauce was good. Overall it was ok, customer service and food could have been better the drinks and ambiance was cool. We may give it another try since it's close to home. read more

Fun place. Close to home. Food is good as well. When we want to get out and have a drink and play a few games, this place is right up our alley read more

As this place is local and close to me, I wish I could give it a better view. The drinks are generally fine and the food is pretty good. The thing that is really horrible. Here is the service. The bartenders are pompous and there is no really any type of customer service or staff to assist the customers. We thought we'd try it again tonight just to see after years and years of being disappointed and alas, was disappointed once again. I walked in. It's modestly busy on a Thursday night. I asked somebody behind the bar if I could please get a menu and they looked at me in the eyes and said that they didn't have time for that. Unless the owner is present, this place is horrible. Don't go. read more

Service has went downhill. Claudia is rude and disrespectful. Terrible service. Maybe she was racist against interracial couples. But this is NOT the rusty nail I have been accustomed to for the last 4 years read more

I would avoid this place on Mondays at lunch. If you have limited time for lunch then stay away. The bar unattender leaves and you never really see their face. I visit this area from time to time and it was never like this. The food is still great, but the service needs work. read more

As always, the Rusty Nail never fails. Looks like they rolled out their fall menu which include what I ordered: Pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw ON the sandwich (only way to eat a pulled pork sammy) and I got the black widow, which includes lemon juice + whiskey + blackberry . And it is 10/10 - made by the one and only Spencer lol! Everyone here gives exceptional service and always has a great vibe! The owner is super down to earth as well and really puts effort and quality into his business. Love this place read more

Kind service. Great atmosphere. Great place to hang with friends, TVs everywhere. Or play your own music. Didn't eat but food looks good! ‍

Have been coming to the place for years and have loved it up until now. This rating is not at all a reflection of the service I received. Especially from Spencer. He is always excellent. However the "bar manager," Stacy, was catering to a single couple in the bar as opposed to multiple people when it came to the music selection that we paid for on the TouchTunes app. When we addressed our concerns, Stacy came over and condescendingly dropped off $5 for skipping multiple songs and walked away. We are extremely disappointed in her customer service and lack of accountability. read more

The servers and bartenders are very friendly and the food is delicious, especially the fried appetizers with house-made Ranch. My friends and I keep coming back for the free live trivia on Tuesday nights. I definitely recommend arriving early for trivia to ensure getting a table. There are also a lot of TV's to watch different major sporting events, both professional and college, as well as videos of cute animals. read more

Took a drive fine Potranco to join my friend for her birthday at this bar and grill. Didn't know what to expect. It's located in a well lit shopping strip next to Pizza Hut. Everything from the staff, the drinks, the music was great. The music was a mix. Sometimes good country, sometimes 90s and sometimes current hits. They have a large bar. Plenty of options. Drink prices aren't too steep. They can make you well drinks or cocktails. They also have beer in bottles and on top. For those that like seltzers, they have a few available. We did try the fried pickles. They were good. Great tasting batter. They have inside and outside seating. There's games available and darts. read more

My friend and I have been here twice and it was an amazing experience both times! We always get the skillet que so and we love trying their different drinks. The manager Steven is just the nicest and the atmosphere is so fun. This place is best for you and just a few friends; def not a big group type of thing. The bathrooms are always clean and back patio area is cute too with connect 4 and prob some other games. We haven't tried too many bars that made us feel as good as this place; even the patrons that come in are super cool and fun to be around. read more

We walked in got our temps taken by a very nice lady, we took a seat and the waitress came right over. She told us the drink specials for the day and we ordered our drinks. She came right back with my wife's Peach Long Island which was delicious! And my Old Fashioned, which was one of the best I've ever had! But it was very short.... we ordered our food which took about 15 minutes. I got the breakfast burger and once I put it together it was a monster sandwich! But it was great, meat cooked perfectly lots of bacon and fresh veggies! My wife got the steak fingers and fries and she really liked them, and the fries are so good! We also got an order of the fried pickles, they were hot, fresh and crispy! The staff here is great very friendly and helpful! They also sanitized tables after people left which is nice! Very clean place and I'm happy they opened back up! Will definitely be back! read more

It's better than average but still typical in most ways except one. Pros: The #1 reason to go here is... SERVICE: Staff is On point and attentive. It's Better here than most other places. Different staff checked on us at our table 3 times in the 90 minutes we were there but only after the rush. It was packed at 6 on Friday evening. Location. It's a modem bar in Podunk country and that is why we went. We didn't want to fight traffic or crowds. Keep reading though... Safety. We live in an era of mass shootings, so sadly this is our new protocol whenever going out. Upon entering a new place, I always read the room when going somewhere new, especially bars and clubs. There's no bouncer here but I did not immediately feel like I would get shot, stabbed or threatened, so we stayed. No fighting or arguments occurred during our visit. Sheik style. Nice photos and neon lighting welcome you with many TVs showing various shows. Our favs were ESPN and ChimeTV with amazing GoPro videos mixed with some funny Fails. Knowledgeable staff: One guy who seemed very knowledgeable and accommodating offered alternatives on beer because what I originally asked for was out of stock. He even checked the stock room. - Much appreciated! The First Lady didn't so I felt stuck having to get a beer I didn't like, but the guy asked what I liked, gave me a sample of something similar which I did like and I proceeded to drink it the rest of the evening. Selection: Its a better than average selection of well drinks on display behind the bar. Look at the pics. My wife said her drinks were well made. Cons: Limited Parking. Big a$$ trucks intentionally hopped the curb and parked in the grass. The lot was full. We only got a spot because someone else was leaving. LOUD. Granted it was 6 o'clock on a Friday during happy hour and packed. Lots and lots of loud drunks, and Loud music didn't help. If you want conversation, you'll have to get closer and speak up. I had to squeeze in at the bar and yell my drink order to the bartender, twice. Pricey: 6 drinks + avg tip = $80. The 2 of us got 3 beers (on tap) and 3 Redbird Paradise. If we go back, it'll be because someone else wants to meet there and only if it's not at a crazy busy time. Crowds, while good for business, are overrated. My wife said it best, "It's good for a bar. I'd rather go on a Sunday when it's more calm." read more

Tried this place with some friends whom have eaten here a few times and took their recommendations and glad we did. This place had good solid food with good flavor and good sized portions and it's really tasty food to be honest. The burger had really good flavor and was cooked medium to my liking. The fries were great and the drinks were on point. The service was a bit slow but probably caught them on a busier day or maybe someone called in because our friends who were with us said, this is the slowest service they had ever received. So will give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an off day. However, if you live or are passing by, this is certainly a great place to eat and or hang out and have some good food and drinks. Will definitely be back again! read more

Just moved into San Antonio and this was the first spot we checked out. Met up with a few of the new neighbors and ill be honest we are hooked! Great vibe, awesome whiskey selection (its a whiskey bar) great selection of other spirits and beer as well. Friendly staff, cool atmosphere. Pretty good sized inside area with lots of TVs, good sound system and decor. Big outdoor patio with TVs and games. The Food is simply amazing, the brisket queso is so good and the White Truffle fries. OMG we get it every time. We haven't been steered wrong yet and will continue to come back. Tuesday night is trivia night, Wednesday is Karaoke, and im sure there are other themes as well! Come check it out! read more

Second time here! The people in my neighborhood (situated just down the street from this place) rave about this place all the time. Regulars, I'm guessing. However, while our first visit was more of a 4-star rating, this is my experience the second time around... THE LOCATION: set in a small strip mall-type setting. THE AMBIENCE: Low lights, small bar with table seating. The evening we went it was quite busy and there were no available tables so we were stuck at that bar. We came to support this small business, to spend our money where we figured it would be much more appreciated, than heading to the Olive Garden or other large chain eatery that we normally enjoy. There is a DJ setting up to play music or karaoke or something. THE SERVICE: With my husband and his service dog in tow, it drew attention (as it usually does) and the male worker who worked the front area approached us to ask if we were going to sit outside in the "patio" which I believe is located in the back of the bar, he is staring at the dog and obviously hinting that this is the only area we will be welcomed. We said "no" that we were waiting for a table to open up inside. He tells us that dogs aren't allowed inside, we point out that Max is a service animal. He leaves us to speak to his manager, which we welcome and we take a seat at the bar and proceed to order. We know the law, even if he doesn't. Frustrating as this is our second visit at this establishment. He comes back to tell us that "it's fine that the dog is here, as long as he doesn't run around the place". I couldn't help but laugh. Comedy! I cannot tell you how insulting it is when businesses don't learn up on ADA laws. It's part of the privilege of running a business to take the money of the general public. Disappointing. Service is slow at the counter, but it is busy and the workers aren't just standing around, so it's no big deal. THE FOOD: we ordered food, burger and chicken sandwich with fries. They are ok, the coolest thing about them is their initials "TRN" are branded into the top of the bun. Hubby drank an Arnold Palmer and I had a Shirley Temple. WORD TO MANAGEMENT: Please educate yourselves on ADA laws so your disabled patrons with service animals aren't inconvenienced or feeling harassed by illegal requests your workers might make. It wasn't bad this time around, but then we are patient people for the most part. My husband suffers from PTSD, of which stressful situations can trigger and is the result of his service in the US Army and his tour in Iraq. The dog helps a lot but isn't a miracle worker. All I'm asking is for your establishment to please do your part. The next guy may not be so easy and may become a very tough lesson to learn. And remember, knowledge is power. I am an advocate for small business and I truly hope yours continues to thrive. Thank you! read more

It was our, my husband and my, first but not our last visit! It initially just gave good vibes or maybe that was the welcome we received from the bartender. We are mostly beer and wine drinkers and he answered mixed drink questions and seemed genuinely happy to do so. Waitress checked on us regularly and kept our glasses filled with both mixed drinks and water. We went for drinks but had supper while we were there. The food was so surprisingly good. I was expecting typical "bar food". You know pull out of a freezer and heat. Nay, nay! Homemade ketchup! Hand-made burgers with meat like we buy from the grocery. Oh! And the brisket nachos with queso! It was all so darn good! I will be going back! Drinks, food, and service, what more could you ask? Oh and fans, TVs were also on. read more

Food was recommended by a friend but was completely different from what was said. The chicken tenders were as thin as chicken skins.

Every time we have come to the rusty nail we have a great time! The owner is super friendly and makes every one feel welcomed. Service level given to customers of the same demographics - you will see a difference! My friends raved about this place a few days ago, and decided to see for myself. Customer service from J (will not reveal his name) was outstanding and an amazing bartender! As shifts transitioned and the crowd filled the place, myself and company were not acknowledge. A solid 30+ minutes of waiting and observing the crowd, we wanted to make sure we were not being biased towards in the establishment. When requesting service and addressing concerns, I addressed being more cognizant of demographics and the negative perception it can foster - we were the only two black women sitting near the window amongst empty tables. The response we got from the waitress was a snarky "ok". read more
