I didn't wait at all before a nice woman came straight to me and took my bags. While I was there, two other women were busy helping a lady figure out how to load a cool dresser into her probably too small car. Inside, I wandered around happily. I really enjoy browsing thrift stores, always have. I was able to find several small treasures while I was there. Check out was fast and efficient. I waited for less than two minutes before another really friendly woman came up and opened her register for me. 11/10 will definitely return for more treasure hunting.

I've stopped in here multiple times to poke around and each time I've said hello to the woman working behind the counter and she's ignored me. Fine, maybe she's had a bad day or didn't hear me...but she watched me intently as I walked around. I made eye contact with her, smiled and said "hi" and she ignored me and looked down. Now I don't think I looked like a shoplifter and in fact I'd be right in her target market since I'm very much into kitschy vintage home decor, but I won't be visiting or buying anything from this place because the employees can't be bothered to be decent to the customers. I'd much rather go to any of the downtown antique stores where the customer service is friendly and helpful and the items are more reasonably priced. 2* because their stuff is cute but attitude is unfortunate.

It's quite rare that I give any small family-owned business this low of a rating as many small…read morebusiness owners work their absolute hardest to stay afloat. This takes me to the Riverbank/Modesto area where I had the opportunity to check out "Thrift Shop & More". When searching for thrift shops in the Modesto area, a different business name came up tied to this address, "Shaws Hole-n-The-Wall". However, at some point, they had changed their name. Located at a small strip mall at the corner of Oakdale Rd & Sylvan Ave, it is tough to determine as to when this place actually opened. The front parking area leaves a lot to be desired as I saw a ton of miscellaneous furniture and other various knick-knacks placed in cardboard boxes. Once entering, there were three (3) ladies (which I am guessing is the owner & employees) sitting down and chatting away. My lady and I were quite surprised that the narrow pathway went as far back as it did. Think of the actual walking area as a somewhat rectangular layout yet with used, secondhand merchandise placed in all directions. The primary issue I have with this place is that I did not see a single thing I liked here! Parking here with the 'main' entrance seemed a bit questionable as the entire strip-mall was quite dilapidated. But the inside had stuff that you're more likely to see at a yard sale. However, the one drawback is that none of the merchandise had price tags on it. There was one clutch purse that my lady liked; however, it had some defects on it. One of the ladies said $10 then the other lady said $5. However, having thoroughly inspected it, I don't think it was even worth that much. When you factor in the cleanliness of the establishment, weird layout, a suspect location (even though In-N-Out Burger is a block away), and no prices on what looks like more trash than treasures, I am giving "Thrift Shop & More" a lower than average two-star rating. I would hope Yelp updates the name as well as the business hours. As of August 2026, their business hours are 10am-6pm seven days a week. Will I be back here? Probably not. But if you ever pass through this part of Modesto, check it out for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

We got it home and it had been modified to fit a queen size mattress. We attempted to contact the owner multiple times. The frame was too long after my husband managed to adjust the frame to fit the width of the bed. We had to spend an additional $100 to get a frame that would fit our mattress because the one we purchased was not advertised correctly and we heard nothing back. Very poor customer service and we won't be coming back unless we FINALLY hear back. But it's been 3 weeks so I assume we will not. Very disappointed.
