Mushroom melt - subbed with stuffed cheese burger + added bacon
Logitha P.

Their cheese stuff burgers are a craving sometimes! Just mouth watering and juicy! The service has always been pretty fast when I've gone. A cute little cozy place!

It's the first time since the pandemic that i have been able to get over to the works for a burger. Just wanted to say 10/10 it's even better than I remember and can't wait to go again! The Pickering staff was quick and very friendly! Wanted to just highlight the good and hard work of the girl working outfront giving people/Delivery orders to everyone. Quick and efficient. I Can not wait until I'm in the area again! Also I've been dying to find out what pepper or where the hotter than hell sauce is from?! It's the best ever! (Visited Friday evening)

Hangover burger and poutine

3.5/5 Delicious burgers, but there were some details that were lacking. My wife is vegan and ordered a burger with no cheese and a veggie patty. Her burger came with bacon it that wasn't supposed to there. Minus 1 star for inaccuracy, +1 star for free extra bacon for me :) I got the hangover burger which is typical burger with breakfast items on (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns). The eggs were weird. There was no yolk, and had a goat cheese type texture almost. The rest of the ingredients were great. This burgers comes on an everything bagel, which I think did a great job of holding up to the sheer weight of the burger. Service was slow, but they seemed understaffed with 1 waitress handling all 8 tables, seating guests, and take out orders. These burgers are also quite pricy, starting anywhere from 15 to 19 dollars, but it comes with a side and you will be full in the end. Overall, I will return some time soon to try some other burgers.

Started out with the 'Wrecking Balls' appetizer, Bacon-wrapped cheddar tater tots served with bacon and roasted garlic aioli. Very good, lots of calories... LOL. I then ordered the Kamikaze burger and added a fried egg, hash brown, onion ring, kraft dinner, fried onions, bacon and more. It was huge and awesome! 8 oz. burger. Great selection of burger options, buns, proteins, etc. Also a number of sides to choose from. I had the fresh cut fries which were excellent, my wife had the spicy die-cut chips, also very good. If I had to fix anything, the burger was slightly overdone, so next time I'll ask them to cook it to medium. Overall a great experience. Nice atmosphere, friendly customer service, great burger!

Son of a Beech burger

If you're ever shopping at Pickering Town Centre, The Works is the perfect place to go for lunch or dinner plans! They have lunch specials on drinks that range around $5, and a few burger meals that are about $12 until 3pm. I got the "Gettin' Piggier With It" burger, with a side of Spicy Die-Cut Chips & "W" sauce. I am exclaiming this with all that is within me, If you are coming to this location GET THIS as a SIDE! The spicy die-cut chips are like soft, potato-filled, kettle-cooked chip, and with the "W" sauce!? I could eat that combination forever! The burger itself was pretty good, however, it was very meaty with having a patty & bacon (I don't always enjoy bacon, especially with other meats). On the bright side, the onions were crisped to perfection; and if you like pickles, onions, and mayo, I recommend having it all in there! My partner ordered the "Son of a Beech" burger with fries - I don't remember the sauce, but it doesn't matter because the "W" sauce is all you need ‍. Anyways, the sun-dried tomatoes was a nice touch for the texture of the burger, and the patty was cooked to perfection. The feta cheese was a refreshing change, instead of the typical cheddar or swiss cheese in a burger. The staff was great as well! Our server was very friendly and helped us understand the menu since it was our first time there.

It was my first time here at this location. Our servers name is Kyle and he was extremely nice and efficient. He came with waters for the table and gave us recommendations for the menu as soon as we sat down. We ordered the nutella milkshake, however when it came, it did not taste like it should. After mentioning it to Kyle, he apologized and quickly offered a remake. He came with a small sample to ensure it was what we were looking for. He was very considerate and was able to act quickly for the satisfaction of his customers. I really appreciate his customer service. Shortly after, our food came and it was delicious! Kyle came by a few times to ensure everything tasted right. The Di-cut chips tasted delicious and was crispy as i have requested. Would definitely visit this location again! Thank you Kyle! :)

Wanted to try the wagyu burger and the spicy die cut chips. Burger was a bit dry and overpriced for the taste. It looked nice though and good. Chips got stale real fast. I would probably give this place one more shot before writing it off but it was "ok"....recommending to eat the food as soon as you can when you get it.

I've heard very good reviews about this restaurant from my friends. My boyfriend, sister and I decided to give it a try. Their special lunch menus included 6 burgers, which included a soft drink of your choice, and regular side dishes (fries, coleslaw, etc.). I always ordered the kamikaze burger since I like spicy food, and it was great. I personally liked the spicy sauce that came on the side. We also ordered the tower of rings. When it came, it was a lot smaller that I expected. It had about ~12-15 onion rings stacked up. It just tasted like regular onion rings, so nothing special about it. What I was most impressed about was their poutine. I always get their longhorn poutine, which is now my new favourite. The portion is huge, so it's great appetizer to share with other people. It was really good because they completely cover each layer of fries with the identified topping listed on the menu. The customer service is also very good. The server would immediately attend to your order, and very well mannered. They would spark some small conversation, which is always nice. My boyfriend and I met the owner one time, and he gave us coupons for free tower of rings if we purchase any meal (included the lunch special) when we left. Overall, my experience was great.

Order the gettin piggy with it and barking cow Burger. Both burgers the patties were cooked nicely and not burned. The bacon was crisp in the onion ring was battered as sufficiently. The burgers are generous size at 8 oz. Save rooms for the fries because you get lots of them.

Being an avid fan of a good burger, I had heard much about this place and it's gourmet burger. So on a Thanksgiving Monday we decided to try it out. Having had a huge Thanksgiving meal the previous day, I probably could have done without , nevertheless.. First impressions, the place is very trendy, love the decor. It was very quiet hardly any customers, but keep in my mind it was Thanksgiving. The server was great and very knowledgeable about the menu. Since this was our first time he took his time to explain the menu as it can be overwhelming at first. We settled on two burgers, one was the Maple burger (just lovely) and the other was Turkey burger. We also got a side our poutine, healthy right! The food did take longer than expected given that there was only couple besides us in the whole place, however the burger was great. The maple on the bacon was divine, the turkey burger was good but kinda dry. The price tag is a bit hefty for two burgers, poutine ($40) but I knew that going in. I would suggest Baldwin Burger in Brooklin over this place

I'm so glad there is a location in the east end. I really enjoy this burger place. I came once before and really enjoyed it. Ordered the Great Canadian (a specialty limited offering at the time) with Poutini Martini, which was basically poutine with onion rings. The burger was fab, albeit huge! I could only eat half. The poutine was...ok. I didn't like the onion rings. They were too sweet for my liking so I had to pick them out. Service tho, was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I knew I'd be back. Today was the day I returned, this time for lunch. I was pleased to see they have a lunch special. A 4oz burger, with side of fries and pop for $10.97. I got the Hamburger Mary, with egg, cheddar, bacon and mayo. I also upgraded my fries to the poutine again. The burger was excellent and the right size for me. The poutine however---wasn't good. The gravy was too thick and not hot enough to melt the cheese curds and it was way too salty. I won't be ordering the poutine again. It just isn't good. Other than that, service was great and we've made plans to come back and try a different burger. I'll just be opting for a different side next time.

(2.5 stars) I've been to The Works in Waterloo, Ontario many times before with all my friends and I've always had a great time. I decided to try the Pickering location with my boyfriend since I enjoyed the Waterloo one so much. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't too packed but they only had one server. We stood at the door for awhile before we were seated... along with 3 other groups of customers that came after us. Finally after being seated we ordered both our drinks and dinner. My boyfriend started off with a beer and I ordered a strawberry banana milkshake (which was absolutely delicious). His dinner order was the Notorious P.I.G. While I got their Ho Hum #34. Food took so long to come! We thought the drinks took long but then when my dinner finally came out, my milkshake was almost all done because I was getting so hungry waiting. Food was tasty but the wait time paired with the $$ was why I gave this place a 2.5 stars. Overall, it's pretty steep for what you get, which is essentially a burger.

Elk on a Beech with Onion Rings and Beechhouse Sauce
Alyssa P.

I came here yesterday for their birthday to get one of their signature burgers for only $5.15! It was the busiest I had ever seen it, but we managed to snag the last table upon arrival. Who could resist their burgers at this price? I decided I would finally try the Elk on a Beech burger since it is the most expensive option on the menu. It was pretty good, but I did not find it was exceptionally better than some of their other creations I have tried. I do love it's uniqueness because where else do you find an Elk burger? Based on the price though I wouldn't get it again. I still can't get over how good their onion rings are, my favourite! Haven't found any that are better yet. Don't forget to join their WIP loyalty program because it is so worth it! They give you $15 on your birthday if you use the card at least once before it occurs and $10 for every 150 points. I know a lot of people say it's pricey and it is, but at least this program helps to recover some of the costs. For example, I managed to get 150 points on my card and then my birthday passed so I had $25 available to spend. I used my card to pay for my meal (which was already discounted thanks to their birthday special) that was less than $10 with tip so essentially I dined for free. Also fill out their online survey with your receipt to receive $5 off on your next visit when you spend $20 or more. See tons of ways to save some money and enjoy a great burger! I also want to mention that the service we received from Nick was excellent. Really cool guy and a great server! Also as another review mentioned, if you sit by the garage door, it is pretty cold! I hope they can fix this problem for next winter. On the other hand I look forward to enjoying this feature in the summer!

Decided on their flight which consisted of their lager, pilsner, IPA and a sour ale. All good beers! Enjoyed the sour ale the most the bartender mentioned it is fermented for 2 years for the taste. Speaking of the bartender, she was wonderful. Took time to discuss each beer as I tasted them. She even went out of her way to find a sticker for me before leaving (knowing I live in Chicago area).

It is hidden in the area that is a mix of small industrial offices and homes - just pops up in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Comfortably serving neighbors, celebrating their own craft beer. I arrived at around 3:30 pm, but the place was full of people enjoying a live music performance. I saw their calender- they have events almost every day to entertain their guests. We had a flight consisting of 4 beers that include: - Munition (IPA) - Among the clouds (hazy pale ale) - Krumlov (pilsner) - Ohh Vienna (lager) Enjoyable! I liked "Among the clouds" because I thought it had the most hoppiness that I like. Recommend to go in the patio season, they have a small and quiet patio that offers sun, breeze, and relaxation. It is located in Ajax south which is very close to the lake.

My previous review provides more detail. However, I want to add the the Fox continues to serve great food with friendly, helpful service. Our server, Devon, made helpful suggestions, didn't hesitate to make informed recommendations, and handled a very busy evening with confidence and good cheer. Service was excellent, as was the food! The Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding is simply the best! I also enjoyed the adorable fox photos and art throughout the pub. The Fox is a sister pub to Magwyers (in Ajax), another well-reviewed pub. While Magwyers is very popular and often full, the Fox Goes Free seems to be a bit off the beaten track, located in that West Pickering Turning Into Scarborough area. There is plenty of parking both in front and behind the pub. Set back from the street, with a spacious, heated patio in the back, it has a welcoming, almost cottage-like atmosphere. Mix that with some tasty fare and great service for the Fox's winning combination!

Upon expressing my displeasure to our server, she advised that they now only have it occasionally as a special but that she would check with the kitchen to see if they would be able to prepare it for me (even though it was not listed as the special that evening) and they obliged. Now I'm not exactly sure what's happened over the course of time but this was the worst Bangers 'n Mash I have ever had! There was far too much gravy on the bangers, none on the mash and only a pittance of baked beans. To top it off, the bangers themselves were horrible and had no flavour at all. Apparently I will be on the search for a new favourite place for Bangers 'n Mash. Even thought the service was very good and they did agree to make the dish despite it not being on the menu that evening, I have to leave them at a 2-star for now because this dish was a disaster. So sad.

We ordered the daily special 2lb wings with fries for $17.99. We chosed jerk and roastic garlic red pepper. The jerk flavour was good but they could have tossed more sauce in the wings. The roasted garlic red pepper was a dry seasoning. The wings are very large in size. The french fries were fresh cut yukon potatoes seasoned just right. Now for the bad. The wings tasted dry or may have been refried. I would expect them to fry a fresh batch of wings for my order. We ordered the 1lb mussels with white sauce. The waitress told us they were almost out of mussels and not enough for 1 lb so they gave it to us for free. The mussels were served with buttery white sauce with green peppers and scallions. Mussel meat was small but the overall flavour was pleasing. We also ordered 2 pitchers of Stella Artois. Draught Beer was fine not watered down. Overall the experience was ok but the quality of the wings can improve. The server was new and she was not familiar with the menu offerings but I was able to download it myself on their website. Two fellows occupied another table. Hmmm, where is everybody? Despite being an Irish Pub, the owners appeared to be Indian. All the staff that I saw were Indian, including the lone server/bartender. Now, that's not a bad thing because I love Indian food. I was actually quite happy! I just never expected it to be disguised as an Irish pub. I chose the Butter Chicken (Authentic creamy butter chicken sauce served with rice and naan bread). It was actually quite good but not quite up to the standard of an authentic Indian restaurant. It seemed to be lacking some of the creaminess that I've become used to in butter chicken. So this was very good, but perhaps not as authentic as I was hoping for. The rest of the place looked like what I would expect from an Irish pub. The (faux) worn furniture, the dart boards, the pool table. the fireplace, a good variety of beer on tap. Hopefully the evening crowd is better. There is one thing that I found to be a turnoff - the strong smell of air freshener or some kind of cleaning agent. Tone this down for a better, more natural experience. Please.

Problem is, the regular patrons, that smoke, now smoke and vape on the patio. Servers do nothing. Pathetic. The smokers never followed the 9 meter rule, always a cloud of smoke at the entrance, next to a daycare. Now they take over the patio. So there are so more patios that are not ruled by the clients. Too bad, nice patio, and great food, but I'll leave it to the inmates. Mackenzie's, magwyers, portly, st. Louis, even Boston pizza respect your air.
