What a pleasant stay! We booked into Windsor for our last night since it is only a $20 taxi ride and 20 minutes away from Heathrow and you can walk around the village, shop, and visit the castle, much more fun than staying at the airport.
This hotel was in a quieter more residential part of town, but an easy walk to shops. Rooms were small but clean, and we would stay here again, as long as you don't mind narrow stairs up to the rooms. There are also one story rooms off the back parking area, but not nearly as charming. Breakfast is served in a back sitting area (additional charge).
The pub downstairs is a fun place to hang out with the locals. There is a pool table, and picnic tables outside in back. Even better, a good Elvis impersonator was performing on the Saturday night we booked in. We shared a table with some of the locals that sang along with all the old favorites. Since my husband and I were married in Las Vegas by an Elvis, this Elvis posed for photos with us, and we had a grand time. Music and crowd dropped off after 11 pm which is also the time flights out of Heathrow slow down, so we slept fine (Flight pattern is right over Windsor Castle oddly enough). read more
