A last minute change and my friends said we were going here instead. So, I was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We had to get a taxi as there's no easy way to get from Blantyre to Bothwell in the evening, even though we're just over the River Clyde from each other. I hadn't realised as well that this was hotel. It's a very quaint old style building set just off the main road in Bothwell. It was a busy Saturday evening but we had booked so we were taken to our table straight away. We had cocktails to start, a Pornstar Martini for me of course (with a shot of Prosecco on the side), and I found some tasty options on the menu straight away. We ordered and it didn't take long for each course. I had the smoked duck salad with a beetroot and raspberry vinaigrette to start with and then ricotta & beetroot tortellini in a lemon and mascarpone sauce with spinach. My food was pink!!! I loved it! The dishes were so pretty. I didn't get a dessert as I was so full but wished I had taken a photo of my friends. The salted caramel and hazelnut tart looked amazing. She gave me a wee taste and it was as good as it looked. I would definitely go back here and wouldn't mind trying something a little different the next time. If you're out this way I would recommend popping in for a cheeky wee drink and a meal of course.

The place was packed, which is usually a good sign. They did have a table, and after we ordered, we noticed most people were drinking. Not to worry, as it was getting later, and we figured most people were just there for a drink before heading home. One of us had a slow-braised beef, which had a large amount of fat, and mash which was rather tasteless, almost like out of a packet. The other had a pretty good beef dish, but nothing out of this world. The service was lackluster. Give it a miss.

It's a small pub, but I thought it was really cosy and warm and I quite liked it! It's sort of an old mans pub, but the interior is quite contemporary, with bare stone walls and big plush couches, and a well populated darts board in the corner. It's got a couple of 'rooms' almost, with two seating areas away from the bar, and its also a sports bar, with large screens showing sky sports channels. Great wee atmosphere, and good for a drink after dinner in Riva!

It was a Wednesday night but i assume they only had karaoke on then because it was Christmas. The bar is pretty old fashioned inside, with the bar in the middle of the pub and tables surrounding it. We ordered some vodkas which were reasonably priced (just slightly more expensive than The Brandon Works) and sambucas. Instead of the normal clear shot, the barman gave us Luxardo Sambuca cream, a kind of coffee tasting liqueur, which blew my socks off. Safe to say the rest of the evening is a tad blurry. The locals were really friendly, the karaoke host was lovely and had some great banter with us, we even got up to belt out a bit of the classic Kenny Rodger's The Gambler! The pub always has entertainment on, with bands playing and themed parties for special occasions. It also has quite a sizeable beer garden which is perfect for summer. I would suggest that they make a website for irregular punters like me to see what is on and when. Other than that, it seems like a great wee pub!

If you'd like their famous Steak Pie, get in early because when they run out, that's it! No more until the next day. It is excellent. So all eyes were on us so we promptly left. Mind you I cannae complain about the age thing since I am considerably over the drinking age. Mon my youthful looks! Although it was a bit of a put off, I really did want to try the restaurant since it was upgraded a few years ago. My main was honey and mustard chicken skewers on a bed of rice and lastly an After Eight Sundae. Nomolicious I say! I couldn't finish my sweet though, this burd was stuffed.
