Colonel Mustard In The Courthouse - Upstairs bar with cocktails and bar food like burgers £10

Out for an Anniversary meal tonight, we decided to try out the newly opened Colonel Mustard in the…read moreCourthouse. I've been a fan of the co-owned next door sandwich shop Mibbies Aye since it opened and hoped the restaurant would be just as good! Inside has been renovated to a really high standard, sleek flooring, exposed brickwork and a nice well lit bar. A cocktail/whisky bar is opening upstairs soon and there's a lovely windy staircase leading to it. Menu isn't extensive but should have something to suit everyone, and is very adaptable as I heard a customer mention they were very fussy and staff were happy to miss out certain ingredients. For starters we both got the Chilli chicken and herb croquette on dresses leaves and lemon sour creme. It was a generous portion, more like fish cake size and served beautifully. They tasted great, tender chicken in mashed potato - although I didn't get the kick of chilli. For main I went for the Slow cooked beef cheek on mash with balsamic roasted beetroot, honey carrots and red wine jus. Never before have I had such tender, gelatinous beef. Soooo tasty! The beetroot added a lovely sweetness and the sauce was delicious. Id suggest heated plates though as the sauce got cold quick but only a slight niggle. Other half had Chargrilled seabass with smoked chilli potatoes, lemon Mayo and dressed leaves. The fish was beautifully cooked and had a lovely charred flavour on the skin. We both went for the Orange infused chocolate ganache with Raspberry foam and honey drizzle. Literally so so rich but really flavoursome. We both didn't finish - but we wanted to!!! Service was quick and seamless, food came quickly although the place was pretty dead so I would've expected it to be. Waiter forgot id ordered a tea - was only a few minutes but he swiftly removed it from my bill! Only negatives are that its pretty pricy for a joint in Hamilton. The food is beautiful but I think maybe slightly overpriced, more of a city centre type price scale. However I will be back.... Definitely when I'm not pregnant though as I seen some of the cocktails being made and I've earmarked them for a non-oreggers dinner :-)

Menu is very limited & not a great selection. My partner got the chicken which was really dry & bland. I got the steak which was ok but very expensive. Not a place I'll return to.

Crooked Lum - Twisted chimney near the entrance is the source of the name of this restaurant.

At the bottom there IS actually a working fire that is on every cold day I've been there. The bar has three levels with comfortable seating all over. There are high tables with comfortable stools as well. The bar has a good selection, only missing are the variety of shots that you get in other bars. No aftershock or Jaffa Cake vodka. Don't ask for any fancy cocktails, this isn't that kind of pub. The bar food is good, made by the same chefs that cover the Beefeater menu through in the restaurant part. Everything from Lasagne to paprika chicken salads, just not tuna. The best bit about the place, though, is the service. The staff are well trained and very attentive. They help you with you orders and even beyond the bar. They are very good interacting with children too. The management seem to be very hands-on. All the staff seem to be happy to serve you. It makes all the difference to your visit.

The crooked lum is named after the giant wonky chimney in the middle of the bar area. It's a Beefeater, so isn't awfully unlike Wetherspoons, but a bit classier looking. The restaurant area is huge, and wasn't close to full, so I was surprised when we were told we'd have a 20 minute wait as the kitchen were running behind. That should've been the first sign of a bad experience. Once we were actually seated, it took just over an hour to get our food. I ordered the T-bone steak, my mum ordered a sirloin and my dad the mixed grill; a rump steak, gammon steak, lamb chop and chicken breast packed onto a plate. When the food actually arrived, I cut into my steak only to find a thoroughly cooked through steak, when I'd asked for medium rare. I sent it back and waited 20 minutes on another one, which is unacceptable because medium rare cooking does not take anywhere near that long. They did take money off the bill for all the drama, and the only reason they're not getting one star is because we actually had a really good waitress, and she cant be faulted for the issues that were going on in the kitchen. I probably won't be back here though.

Having visited several times before and knowing that there wasn't going to be an issue accomodating us after 8, my mind was made up almost automatically. When travelling round the country I've been to quite a few of these Table Table restaurants. With them all I've always been greeted With a combination of comfortable and homely surroundings, a decent menu selection, good service and tasty food which looks like the menu. The best kind of pub grub. Being a Tuesday night When we arrived, the service was impeccable, with no wait to be seated, no delay in taking drinks orders and fast efficient delivery of our food. Service even came with a warning that the middle of the chicken might be hot and to take care. Also, during the evening (after 6 I think) they run a specials menu which has the option of 2 courses for £9.99 or 3 courses for £11.99. The specials had a varied selection of food ranging from burgers and salads through to a delicious chicken and ham pie. This time I had the chicken goujons with a caramel glaze, which was just delicious, followed up with the fish and chips, and the tastiest apple crumble with custard I've tasted. The pasta dishes and banoffee sundae also comes recommended. The beer garden outside looks like it could be a nice place to sit when the weather gets better and the premier inn next door could come in handy if the reasonable drinks prices prove to be too much of a temptation for any drivers. I'll be back here for sure. Location : 8/10 (only marked down a bit for the road running past the beer garden) Atmosphere and Surroundings : 10/10 Service : 10/10 Food : 10/10

So if you live in Stewartfield you owe it to your community to visit here! I came here with a pal who has just moved in a few minutes walk (lucky him) on a Friday evening and we had some beers in the bar area. Here are my thoughts: +Friendly bar staff +Friendly locals and regulars +Nice Guinness +Has Sky Sports and BT Sports -No craft beer of any type -It was a chilly evening but the bar was so cold everyone was standing around with the jackets on. It was pretty cold! -BT Sports wasn't working for the first half of the football so most of the punters left. It came on during the second half -On the pricier side for somewhere in East Kilbride - £13 for 4 drinks All in all I would probably give this place a 3*, but apparently the food is really good so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for being a community asset!

First thing to mention what an absolute steal the lunch menu is £10.95 for 2 courses or £12.95 for three courses and the place was buzzing so I'm glad I booked ahead. I had a start of black pudding and chorizo salad, the chorizo was bright and flavourful whilst the black pudding was nice without being overspiced. My Gran had the haggis fritters and she said they were some of the best things she has ever eaten. For main I went for Fish & Chips, nice without blowing me away, I've never really been a fan of pea puree as I'd always prefer my own and the chips were pretty average. Gran went for the Spaghetti Carbonara and devoured 2/3's of a massive portion before admitting defeat full but very happy. For a bargain lunch on a Sunday afternoon this was pretty much bang on plus it made my Gran pretty happy and for that reason alone it gets 5 stars!
