The place was very clean, and was rather busy with a lot of customers in. the tables are a little squashed together and you feel your pushing past all the time, but it is never the less a nice 'homely' pub. They had a good selection of food on there menu, and I decided to have gammon for my meal and it melted in my mouth, it was cooked perfectly, the home made soup was out of this world, it was delicious. Id definately recommend the goldberry to anyone who wants to have a bar lunch.

As we were travelling it made a great stop-off point to use the free wi-fi service. I was able to log in via 'The Cloud' on my laptop and catch up on my emails. This place is…read morecold, dirty, has ignorant staff and the recent birthday party I was at in the upstairs function room was an absolute joke. I used to attend a slimming class here too, the room was cold in the summer and worse in the winter, the toilets have been done up but there is no hot water, they are dirty, the decoration is shabby to say the least and some soap would be nice too. I couldn't recommend this place for any sort of function. My husband helped decorate the hall for the party we were at, he had to clean the gents toilet up, the floor was covered in paper towels and toilet rolls, the ceiling is covered in drawing pins that the staff have never bothered to remove. The room was incredibly hot when we arrived because there was a large heater that resembled the exhaust of a jet fighter and wasn't exactly the safest thing to have with children around (perhaps switch on the radiators?), when it went off the room was freezing cold. The staff couldn't work it and it took about half an hour for a senior member of staff to switch it on, meanwhile the birthday cake grew icicles. The DJ's were given the wrong information by the staff and were late and started to set up while the birthday girl arrived, it was a surprise party, wow big surprise, we're your DJ's! The staff were grumpy and ignorant and were disgusted that when they brought someone the wrong drink, the customer complained and was told well that's all we've got! Charming. Avoid avoid avoid.
