Willows consists of a 2 buildings. One is 3 stories and has a lot of vendors. There is no AC so if you go earlier in the day try to start at the top. I always end up getting tired and have never finished and looked at everything on 2nd and 3rd floor. There is another building that is smaller and one story. I always end up buying something at both. Most of the parking is up on this hill and you walk down the gravel driveway, so if someone has difficulty maybe try parking below or drop them off. They take Amex too. During Covid they have closed the restrooms and have Portapotty outside, so maybe go ahead of time They post featured or new vendors on their Facebook page.

Discrimination at it's finest. I have shopped there multiple times with my daughter and her service dog, we were wearing masks minding our own business - when we were told to leave that dogs were not allowed . She then asked if it was a service dog - yes - she asked what disability we had? Which we told her was illegal- and she then asked to see paperwork - which is also illegal. She went and got a man who continued to harass us - I went to leave and found a credit card next to my vehicle and had to go back I and return it - I wanted to leave it in the driveway but I'm better than that! Don't let them bully you. We left, but I'm not sure what we could have done in that situation. We know our rights but why argue with people who don't. We were embarrassed enough. So if you are disabled with a service dog, unless it's absolutely obvious to them be prepared to be humiliated!

The place is large with lots of vendors but the owner and people running it are rude. If you have kids or a drink with you forget about it!

I can't speak for the service dog reviews, but I know if they are not legal service dogs then I back the place 100%.

At best, I was moderately amused by the men yelling "oooonnnnneee dalla one dalla one dalla Heeere" and the ice that I'd receive at the junk quests end if I behaved. There was just something about the flea markets that I didn't like, because we went to all of them, the name "flea" always bothered me - nobody else shopped there that we knew - I'm not sure if it was a secret or not - but I never muttered a word about it. I'm enjoying walking the aisles today - buying a few nick knacks and paddy wacks along the way. I've looked this up and learned that the biggest flea market is in Texas, no surprise there I suppose -- and there's one in Silicone Valley but these would likely take days and weeks to explore. So, not looking for anything in particular, I'm browsing the smaller markets - the big one in Brunswick isn't worth the time in my opinion. With roughly 30 vendors, this Riverside flea market is just the right size - sweet older people peddling their wares with a joke and a smile - always engaging and with the spunk of youthfulness. I don't want the "pot of gold - honey hole - diamond(s) in the rough - special edition - 1st edition - authentic " eBay reseller finds - for me, it's typically about shopping what brings me joy and, oddly enough, those are nostalgic items from my youth. A case of coming full circle I suppose, however they don't sell ices and I don't have to behave.

It seems there are very few vendors any more. Most of the table spaces on our most recent Saturday visit were empty. The sellers continue to be an interesting bunch which is true of the sellers at any flea market I've ever been too. They will chat you up with stories of all kinds; they are "characters". Most of the vendors here are Mainers with a few other folks who travel from flea market to flea market around New England in the summer and warmer climes in the winter. This flea market holds a special place for me though. More than 25 years ago when I first came here with my husband (an inveterate collector and antique maven from childhood!) I found what became the first of my now overflowing collection of vintage cocktail shakers....and in fact the one I bought here is one of the most valuable in my collection. I remember I paid $22.00 for it having "talked the seller down" from $25.00 dollars. That emerald green glass shaker is now worth a couple of hundred dollars but I would never part with it. It's a beauty. At that time I was not nearly as interested in flea markets as my husband was and is. He would stop at any flea market he saw back then to my eye-rolls and groans. He would say to me: "Find something to collect and you will love them too". How right he was! It was the memory of my parents NYC cocktail parties that got me thinking of collecting the cocktail shakers and some other vintage cocktail era memorabilia. As a child peeking into the living room at one of my parent's parties, I saw glamour, sophistication and beauty....the women beautiful in their dresses and the men handsome in their suits and ties. I have photos of my parents' parties with cocktail shakers at the ready to pour martinis and I was inspired to go on the cocktail era memorabilia hunt. It's been sad to see the decline in vendors here at Montsweag...and maybe this means a decline in interest in flea markets? We will still stop here when we are in the area with high hopes there is a turn-around. If you're vintage hounds like we are, it's simply a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
